Photoshelter performance today

Recommended Posts

I'm finding the Photoshelter site very slow and cumbersome this morning - pages not loading, keywords not saving, just clunky and weird performance. Time-consuming and frustrating. Just wondered if other have noticed the same. From experience I know that contacting PS they will just bounce it back to me and say the problem is at my end.

I've tried Safari and Chrome without success.

Time to have a break and enjoy some rare sunshine in the garden ........😀

Don't look at it that often though, might have been like that for a while, it's not my doing though.

Photoshelter nice and snappy for me today. I don't really use it, certainly haven't uploaded anything to it for ages but I'm going to have to shortly.

Weirdly at some point the Navigation symbols below the gallery image seem to have changed to something random - 'e' for Previous, 'b' for Next Image, 's' for 'Thumbnails, '|' fpr Pause, 'n' fpr Ful Screen & '8' for Share. I don't remember what they were of course, I'd better have a look under the bonnet.

Did Photoshelter ever come up with all those upgrades they were promising years ago?

No, on that front I feel quite disillusioned with them.

About once a year we get an email mentioning all the exciting things on the horizon but nothing ever actually arrives.

It is working as normal today so I just get on and use it in the way that I know. Probably new 'improvements' would just make everything harder for me.

Ah yes, I see that I missed this one provisionally about their new marketing website back in March. but in addition...

"Additionally, we're actively working on several product updates for PhotoShelter for Photographers. Our product team is looking for photographers to join our product council to test new solutions and offer feedback. Interested in participating? Fill out this form to get involved!"

Looking at their new website they look to be going after corporate asset management and photographers' sites have gone on to the back burner at best.

I could get annoyed but there really is no point.

Photoshelter does what I need and I use it just about everyday.

Best to count the positives and get on with it 😄

I'm on the verge of cancelling my PS website as it just sits there gathering dust. Apparently, "mandatory Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)" will be added to PS websites soon. Not sure what that might entail, but for some reason it sounds like it could be painful. 😝

For what you do I'm not sure there is anything quite like it, the archive etc. but how would anyone know what it does from their website? I just use what you might call the 'front end'  for galleries but I had rather hoped that they were going to bring in extra features as they were promising to do about 4 years ago. Ah well, it does what I want for now, which isn't a lot frankly, it's cheap enough for an occasional showcase.

There used to be all this hype about how innovative it was and going to change the world etc.

My sense is that it is not much more than a cash cow these days.

That's okay with me as long as they can keep going!

Does anybody else remember the Digital Railroad crash?

I've been with them since 2008 and have tens of thousands of files backed up there. I just hope they keep their photographer's website but it sure would be nice to have all the bells and whistles they promised.
