Allan,

 

Adobe Illustrator has a feature called “Image Trace” that will attempt to convert a continuous tone image (jpg) into a vector image but I have not had much luck with it. The Waikiki image does have a lot of sharp detail that could make a good vector but I don’t know if all that work (tracing every little detail) would be worth $49 RF…?

 

I have made some vector images using Adobe Illustrator to trace simple artwork and they look good. Using Illustrator is a great way to master the Pen tool.
