You are right. It must seem very weird to be approached out of the blue etc

On the other hand some families are absolutely thrilled when they see the images of their Dad ( or whoever) on the internet and when I do a blog post about them.

I saved this one!

Floating village at Manaus, Brazil 1962, destroyed later in the decade as part of slum clearance.

It became a tourist attraction and used in a Bond movie before its disappearance.

Licensed today so will be seen by the WORLD!!!!!

Interesting link. I also need to trace families because of copyright. The reactions from them are unpredictable and varied. Some are delighted and positive, others suspicious, some just plain not interested. Some people seem to feel  some sense of criticism of their family in allowing the situation to arise that I have their pics.

Of course, there are also enormous rewards in terms of self satisfaction.  A former student of the Manaus photographer follows my blog and has made several wonderful comments. I don't think that I should publish her recent comment here but do go and have a read.

What a testament to a wonderful geography teacher way ahead of her time and also to the power of photography.
