February 2022 Challenge 'Chiaroscuro'

Interesting subject Martin, thank you! - had to think about this one - In-putting chiaroscuro to my keywords would have produced zero results!

Here are my entries:

1. The American Air Museum hangar in the Imperial War Museum, Duxford Cambridgeshire

How did you do your scans, Ed?

Eh?

Oh, sorry, Mark! Yes, those last two images were shot on film. When I joined Alamy in 2007, I copied about 2 dozen film images onto digital using a Repronair slide copier (spelling?). The Rome image was taken with a Nikon DSLR.

That's a great photo of the American hangar at Duxford, Doc. Curses, I have stood within a yard of that very spot drinking a tea from the little café just behind and taken lots of images, but I never saw that dramatic composition.

Thanks Colin!

It was taken last week when I went to see the spitfires exhibition. The place was so crowded that there was a huge queue for the cafe - otherwise I would have had a coffee and probably missed the shot as well!

Best,

Congrats on your win Martin!  Great - if difficult - contest concept.

Wish I could shoot something new for this - it's such an inspiring topic - but my Mac is in the shop and I'm struggling on a 2009 MacBookPro that is temperamental at best. It took me hours and hours to do my DACS submission yesterday - kept having to restart, etc. - I finally switched to my husband's PC (which I hate to use) - and of course I just saw this today. Been very last minute all month. Glad we'll soon be into March with Spring on the horizon. An ice storm here last night.

Sorry I still can't seem to make the images larger. It used to be easy to drag from one window to the next but it doesn't seem to work any more. Right clicking doesn't give me any options.

Fun challenge. Have a good weekend!

Edit: Trial and error figured out the large image thing at last so re-posted below.

Since drag and drop and right-clicking no longer works on this or my much newer Mac to get the full-size image, I kept experimenting and found that if I hit shift when I right click and then hit "copy image location" it works. Eureka!
