Alamy Infringement Team - any news?

geogphotos

Question

Anybody have experience of the new improved Alamy infringement team reporting payments?

Have you reported any potential infringements - and if so have they been treated successfully?

What are the fees like - an improvement on the previous system which seems to be essentially retrospective licensing?

At the moment I have labelled all images as non-exclusive so as to pursue infringement myself but am open to persuasion if the Alamy team is making headway.

So here's the answer from the legal team...

Separately, please note that the email sent to the end user was a notification enquiring about the end users use of the content, given it had been identified by our systems as exclusive on the Alamy platform. This initial correspondence aims to establish the existence of a licence by the end user regarding the image in question and by no means does it accuse the end user of copyright infringement .

What i don't understand is if all they are doing is sent to the end user was a notification enquiring about the end users use of the content,  why are they only doing that for items marked exclusive, if the request is no innocuous as @Alamy claims why don't they send it to all usage of images represented by Alamy?

@Alamy feel free to send your non accusatory email to all usage you find of my images, marked exclusive or not, and keep 60% of any amounts you manage to get if user can't provide a valid licence.

The unreported front cover use on a magazine finally came through via the infringements team. My highest ever sale at $678. Thanks Alamy!

This infringement was reduced by $10 a week later, never cleared, was refunded yesterday and reissued for $230 less. Now I’ll have to wait ages for the new license to clear. It’s 18 months since the image was used.

How disappointing, and frustrating. I hope it clears eventually.
