Anyone on the forum speak Welsh?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have just submitted two posters from the first war - in Welsh. Does anyone here speak Welsh and can translate? I know Cymru is Wales, after that I am lost.

Thanks

Colin

According to Google Translate:

The first one:    to the walia boys army.   A man hates not an enemy of his country

The second one:  You must Every Man Worth It Enlist until the end of the war

Hope that is somehow helpful.  I'm sure someone will come along who knows the actual as opposed to literal translation.

I can't guarantee the translations but my limited knowledge and google translate suggest these from the Imperial War Museum are pretty accurate.

To the Army, men of Gwalia!

Hateful the man who hates not the enemy of his country.

Wales for ever!

All able-bodied men required.

Enlist until the war's end.
