In hindsight, I probably should have gone with one or other, sorry folks. Using Chrome, I open two widows and drag the photos into the discussion thread.

Editing our own work is always tough for us togs, so it's good practice to look at our work this way and whittle it down. It's nice to have a challenge where everyone has a lot of choices rather than trying hard to come up with something that fits.

Thanks Marianne, that was my goal, I wanted everyone to participate who wanted to.  I imagined that most everyone had photos of doors and windows.  I have over 600 in my collection.

i agree.  plus we have to try and guess from the cryptic little information we received what the client wants....

"I am looking for creative and interesting photos taken of or through all sorts of doors and windows."

as example, i think your second image might fill the needs.  But then again, it may not...  😉

Ha! I guess I am "the client"!  Well fortunately I didn't have any preconceived imagery in my head, I want to be surprised by the photos and tortured by the task of having to cull them down to a top 8!!

to me this is always part of the fun of this game.  Look at the comments, see the examples provided, try to differentiate the offering....

in fact this would have 2 clients.  You are the person that goes through the image bank to provide a selection that fits the imagery, then the voters are the final decision makers....

plus we also get to see others' interpretation of the brief.

For some unknown reason, and whilst I've never had an issue in previous years, it's decided to squash my pictures out of shape.
Back soon...

☹️

Double-click on the image in the edit pane and tick "maintain aspect ratio" or something like that.

Took me a while too- some bright spark on the forum told me what to do.

Many thanks Mark, I'd given that a bash but it reduced the image size considerably (evidently I'm a technical idiot, as it seems to work for you!)
Anyway, a quick scan of the forums brought up John's method ...

I open the image's page and right click on a blank space right next to the preview image. I then click on "View Page Info" in the drop-down menu, copy the URL with "/comp/" in it and paste it into the "Insert image from URL" box in my forum post (bottom right).  Works every time.

P.S. I'm using Firefox.

...which seems to work fine. Why the "drag and drop" method I've been using for years has suddenly gone AWOL is a total mystery.
Again, thanks both for the help and advice,
👍
