How was your 2020 ?

Recommended Posts

2020 - 453 sales compared to 2019 - 465 sales.  Gross revenue $170 more for 2020 than 2019 which is less than half of my best year 2013.  For volume 2020 has been worst year since 2015 but worst for gross revenue since 2009.

A good year for me considering I only started making regular upload and sales from mid 2018. Massive push up in Gross and Net in 2020 with two just above $$$ sales although no sales from 2nd Oct till end of Dec.

        Year         Sale       Gross         Net
2019 15 306.55 116.9
2020 24 778.41 370.07

An end to a fairly appalling year - good riddance 2020!

661 sales (2019: 858); $18,524 gross (2019: $23,817) Best year for sales and income was 2016 with 858 sales and $27,798)

Views also down - 2020: 314,000,  2019: 429,000,  as were zooms,  2020: 2231;   2019: 2823

Mainly I think due to 1. COVID;  2. Most of my portfolio are travel images and 3. Relatively few images uploaded this year (1,500)

Two positives: June 2020 saw my highest ever gross sale at $2,200 which cleared very quickly, and June also saw the highest number of zooms in one day (35)

Bring on 2021 and bring back travel!!

Happy New Year everybody!

Best year ever! Thanks mainly to a large book cover sale (which I still haven't been able to find 😢)

24 sales for $1968 gross

Thanks Alamy and all the best to everyone in 2021

Pretty grim - worst year for 5 years. Running at 65% of the last three years in sales but at roughly the same average price.

Nothing for six weeks - longest period I can recall since sales became regular. When the payment comes in for Jan, I will only have one sale uncleared. It is so bad that even the latest one has cleared!

Oh well, onwards and upwards. Maybe this year I can get more than one batch uploaded which may help.

Good luck to all for the coming year - stay safe and sell well!

2019 - 322 for  $ 11,802 (5th)

2020 Identical number of sales as 2019 but revenue down. I uploaded over 1500 new images in 2020 but it seems fruitless. Perhaps 2020 not a good year to compare to others - the world is taking an economic battering and I don't expect sales to improve for a while yet. Need to ride out the storm.

Sales up by 370% on 2019

Revenue up by 300% on 2019

I doubled my port during the last year and I guess that's the key factor here.

NB: I'm talking about relatively low numbers compared to the regular forum members, but I'm quite happy 🙂

Bring it on, 2021!!!

All things considered, 2020 was better than expected. I didn't license as many images as in 2019, but 2020 was my second best year for total number of sales. Income is another story, though -- down 20% from last year and down 30% from my best years. Two disturbing trends for me in 2020 were declining zooms and a scary drop in CTR during the last quarter of the year (what goes down must go up, I'm hoping). Best of luck in 2021, everyone.

Not exciting. 60 licences for $2,786. So average price $46.33. Number of licences up by 6 from 2019, but revenue down $152. Only 138 images added, it's been a tough year, healthwise with two big cancer operations, and I did not pick up the camera for over 10 months. Nor have I been able to dive. With another surgery due this month on my dominant hand, I'll be out for another three months or so. After that, lets all hope covid vaccines start allowing us to travel again.

Thanks Gen. That's so lovely of you. It takes a lot more than two bouts of cancer in 17 months, and almost dying on the operating table to keep this old biddy down!!! I'm back to walking up to 35 km a week now, but it can be hard at my age.

I hope the border closures don;t curtail your travels too much. cheers

Final tally

46 licences, $960 gross.  As my first year of really focusing on it i am OK.  The start of year was more promising, but then life happened,  Too many $3 licences for my taste, i keep telling myself it helps the image ranking, but the only one that sold again got me another $3...

But all things considered i am satisfied enough to continue in this adventure, as it keeps me focus and learning new stuff and skills....

A true blue Aussie you are. That's the right attitude to help you pull through.

My travels are on standby right now, still in our motorhome but waiting for a cataract op. I'm certainly not complaining, we had a fabulous year and a half on the road, even during Covid. WA will have to wait.

Only my third year on Alamy but I improved over last year on both sales and revenue, so I'm happy. I've been way behind on keywording for a long time but I am down to (only!) 905 still needing keywords. I didn't get to shoot enough in 2020--hope that changes this year.

Sales up 86%

Revenue up 80%

Av sell price $24.18 (boosted by a couple of $$$ sales

Uploaded 2145 images this year.

This is not my day job but it is my passion and the reason I pick up my camera. Being out shooting is my happy place and I get such a thrill when I land a sale.

Happy NY to all and the the Alamy Crew. Hopefully the introduction of the vaccines will improve life globally for all.

How did you manage to post these images? I tried to post mine, but couldn't find a way, even after uploading them to pbase

Sales down 16%.

These two lines explain overall results:

Gross Revenue down 55%.

Average sale declined from $54 to $29.

Worst total revenue since 2005.

Added 379 images, had added 797 in 2019.

Not a bad year for me in the end, although December was rubbish due to a sizeable refund 😞

2020 - 84 sales for $2,088 gross ($996 net) from an average of about 5,200 images on Alamy

2019 - 67 sales for $2,041 gross from an average of 4,500 images on Alamy

CTR% has been climbing steadily for last 5 months and is now above 1, so I'm feeling optimistic about 2021.

Happy New Year to all.
