Market for old ariel city images

Recommended Posts

A friend has just acquired some (not previously seen) boxes of RAF ariel photo runs across two northern UK cities of very good quality. Is there a market for him to sell these via Alamy, or should he publish elsewhere?
Any opinions?

I've sold some old B&W images, they have done relatively  well considering the numbers involved.  Wish I had been more active with the camera when younger!

I suspect that your friend's images will sell here, but I don't know if it is the best place for them. Need somebody with specialist knowledge to comment on that.

Hi Bryan,

A PM was forthcoming from someone which re-enforced my view that he would be on tricky ground, so not sure what he'll do.

I was active myself in the 80's with my own darkroom, then in the 90's I had a big clear out. What a fool I was, I dumped loads of negs and prints which would definitely have sold now.

They could sell, could be on a sticky wicket regarding copyright, I'm guessing they are still subject to crown copyright.

Yes, unfortunately for the OP, until at least 2070.
