I guess humour is another casualty of these times.

Got me!! My Bad . . . silly me, I forgot some people find "humour" based on demeaning others by way of gross generalisations really funny.

No,  I do not know anything about you, never said that I did and you did not quote everything I wrote.

I was responding in general and specifically to what you had written concerning monetary returns of

images of the worlds #1 concern and news .

Chuck, I think that you and MichaelPhoto are actually in agreement.

You are saying that photographing Covid-19 should be left to experienced, qualified photojournalists and he is commenting that Alamy have sent out image requests to those who are not specialists and he is wondering why people would put their lives, and the lives others at risk, especially given low financial incentives.  These are the people you call 'dabblers' and who you think should stay at home the same as MichaelPhoto does.

Many of us say much the same thing about low fees and is it worth the expense and effort even for day-to-day photography, so that thought is even more relevant here. But if we are going out anyway, take the camera along and who knows?

From how I read it you are both coming at this from different angles but saying the same thing.

I hav'nt seen my chin since January 1971.  Lord knows what's under the beard.

Your comment reminds me something that has stuck in my memory for a long time, I think it originated from the hilarious Cheech and Chong.

A hippie greats another hippie and asks if he has any food to spare. In reply he is told, yes, and he rolls off a long list of food. The first hippie says great man and is told to hold out a plate. The other hippie then wrings out his large beard over the plate. Disgusting, I know.

I've had a beard since around 1969 and its clean! Now out for another walk while the sun is shining.

Ian,

Thank you and once again I do apologize for using the word "dabble."

For the record what I wrote was a general comment and not an individual

critique of anyone.

Some years back my wife bought me the Cheech and Chong DVD set. Will have to look them out and digitise them and add them to the hard drive that lives behind the TV. Something to amuse me again if I eventually end up spending time at home.

Astounding article. I think this underlines Chuck's point that photographing Covid-19 should be left to experienced, qualified photojournalists.

I am continually gob-smacked at the heroic (in the true sense of the word) work being done by front-line staff all around the world . . . I hope one brighter, safer day they all get the recognition and respect they so thoroughly deserve.
