Can covid-19 disease outbreak influence photos sales worldwide?

It would be more fruitful if we discussed what we can do with the additional time we are likely to have at home....

Well I’ve bought some jigsaws which arrived today, taken phone pictures of the pieces, uploaded, and they will go on Alamy via St***imo tomorrow. Might take me a couple of months to complete a jigsaw though!

I'm thinking that, although we have some sharp differences in politics and religion -- nether of which Alamy would allow us to get into if it was not for this health crisis -- we are a pretty tight, supportive, caring bunch in this forum. Keste!

I decided not to continue with the bears stuff. Too bad, because I had a whole bunch of military animals to discuss: Flying Tigers Screaming Eagles, Tunnel Rats, and of course Navy Seals.

Not sure why someone has given this a red arrow. Seems good to me. Thanks for posting.

Please don’t stop Edo. That was really funny and I promise not to tease anyone.

Tunnel Rats in the Nam, right.

Remember the film Day of the Dolphin, with George C. Scott? I understand that George was harder to get along with on the set than the dolphins.

I think that bit has run its course, Michael. T'was John Morrison's idea.

OOOOO Betty. Those moving dots make me very nervous. Are they the insects you get in your mulch??

Love, Paulette

Hahaha. I don’t get insects in it, but when the heat hits, some might seek shade under it. If they like the smell of rubber. 😊

Day of the Dolphins. Cried my eyes out. Saddest movie. Really good, but I don’t believe I could watch it again. “Paaaa...”

I would think that doubtless, overall, the pandemic will have a negative effect on sales (excepting news, of course), but I got a rare Sunday zoom yesterday for someone searching on the Danish town of Aarhus.  Could it be that, as the Danes went into lockdown on Saturday, there are lot more people worldwide in this industry working from home: searching for, downloading and (hopefully) licensing images?

Trying to remain positive! 🤞😀

I don't know if this will be useful information but I have appreciated hearing from members what is going on in their location. I had my annual check-up last week and at that time my doctor had not seen any cases of corona virus and there was a sign on the door asking anyone with symptoms not to enter but to go home and call for instructions. I neglected to get a new prescription for my asthma inhaler when I was there. I am doing very well lung-wise and rarely use it but carry it with me at all times. I belatedly realized my current one expired last month and though it probably still works fine I like to keep a new one on hand. My prescription had expired so I called my doctor's office. The office is closed today and the answering service doesn't know why. Something to do with the virus I'm sure. Perhaps they are disinfecting or preparing an isolated room for exams or someone on the staff is ill.... who knows? So I left a message and I assume my pharmacy will hear from them. Kind of spooky though and something to bear in mind if you need any regular medical care. Stay well!!! Our restaurants here in NYC are now only open for take-out and delivery. Definitely not a time to visit the city!

My meds ordered days ago only just now were filled.

State of Emergency called today for Kansas. Friday, gatherings of above 250 were banned, the officials just now lowered it to 50. I approve. So far no confirmed cases in my county.

Good luck with your inhaler, Paulette. I need one, too. Mine seems to have gone dry.

Many suspect similar of the Australian gov (cynics all, line 'em up against the wall I say . . . 😉 )  . . placed self-isolation requirements on arrivals from many countries, but not the US . . . then to avoid having to single out the US, they then went and imposed requirements on all arrivals. Neat eh?  🙂

Some Australia states appear to making the 14 day quarantine manditory, with police checks, and a AUS $14K or so fine if in breach.

Almost all cases in Central America appear to be from returning nationals who vacationed in Spain or Italy.  Nicaragua officially doesn't have any cases.  I tend to believe that because we don't have reports of dead or seriously ill old alcoholic expats in areas close to Costa Rica.  CR closed its bars, clubs, and casinos; Panama which topped 50 cases today, closed its borders to all except its own citizens (most likely to bring in cases, actually) and legal resident foreigners.

The EU just closed its borders to all but essential travel (moving cargo, basically).  As soon as all the Nicaraguans who went on vacation in the EU or US come back, we'll know whether they've imported Covid-19 or not, unless it's already here.

I'll  be shooting still lifes and cats upstairs over the next week.  My town is rather far from the CR border, but Honduras has cases.   The town's largest pharmacy's clerks were using hand sanitizers between customers last week and had a run on hand sanitizer over the weekend and limited purchases to two bottles.  My local small shop is also using hand sanitizer between customers.   The owner said that Trump was a lunatic, so people here are following what's happening in the world.  Much fear that the disease is here, and some weird beliefs that either this was a Chinese bio weapon or a US bioweapon depending on the speaker's politics.

The saddest thing about this is how politicized it's become.  And the second saddest thing is that so many have no gears between denial and panic.

It's no surprise that Panama, with Panama City being the most cosmopolitan city in CA, has the most cases. British Columbia has at least 73 confirmed cases last I heard, and sadly three people died in a Vancouver nursing home today. I'd say that people here are mostly in denial, except when it comes to hoarding food. However, Canadians tend to be polite, even when panic-buying -- "Sorry, ma'am, I didn't mean to grab the last four rolls of toilet paper."

Just made my weekly trip to the grocery...was going to go yesterday figuring it would nuts then but I think it was just as nuts today!  Did not take any photos...probably should have.  I did not do any panic buying or hoard, got my usual stuff (if it was there).  The aisles that were empty were: water, canned food, frozen veggies, much of the fresh meat and of course all paper products!  I hope when I go back next week, it will be more sane and shelves restocked....I know, don't kid myself 🤪

It was just announced today that my state (Maryland) has made it mandatory that all restaurants, bars and gyms must closed until further notice...restaurants can only stay open to serve carry out or delivery food...no dining in.  So I think that added to the rush of hoarders at the grocery stores.

Under the circumstances, I took down the picture of me smiling.

Went to the Apple Store, Boots Pharmacy, and the M&S Foodhall today. Apple was closed. I was able to upload some images to Alamy using their wifi from outside the door. I wonder if Alamy will close. Picked up my new eyeglasses at Boots. The staff was using hand sanitiser between customers. But they had none to sell and they had no masks either. I got my month's supply of Rx meds yesterday.

No loo paper at M&S. (I bought some last week.) They had food on the shelves but not everything I wanted. They had no blueberry muffins. No blueberry muffins for the last three days!!! Does Boris know about this?

The solitary days and nights that medical folks are suggesting for all has in fact been my normal life for the past two years. In addition, I wash my hands a lot and am careful what I touch when I'm out.

I find this article very reassuring and sort of understand the reasoning.
