Cheers - just had this, also. Doesn't say if QC will definitely be working, understand it will take longer but perhaps not worth uploading anything until after 2/1/19, apart from Live News?

They should at least have someone on the live news desk - Boxing day is hunting.  I will have my laptop with me to send off photos fastish, before following for a bit, then a football match in the afternoon.

Hopefully in this day and age LIve News is a 24 hour thing? Boxing Day - hunting for bargains or pulling out shot? Both very unappealing but football sounds more like it!

Its the day of the year most registered hound packs have a big meet and go out - now they will be trail hunting, before the law change they would have been hunting quarry animals.  The photo below is my local pack - I did not take it I am in it somewhere lol.  Football I do all the time - boxing day comes but once a year.  I do not have the time or money to follow hounds more often.  If you have not ever tried it I recommend it.  You do not need a horse - just a car or on foot.  Most packs have websites - google one close to you and find contact details let them know it is a new experience for you and they should sort you out with a friendly guide to what's going on and why.

I see you've been given a red arrow which isn't very fair on you, but given for the subject I assume. They're still illegally hunting foxes with two events of late also seeing the deaths of hounds chasing across busy roads and railways - plus the hunt's attitude to the fallen animals hasn't helped. Yes, Live News are still at their desks for Boxing Day events as I've had a number of images published.

Another subject absolutely not appropriate for debate here - suffice to say MSM report one side and do not mention the deliberate calling of hounds across roads by sabs.
Boxing day is one of those where the papers will all decry what they claim still goes on while wanting lots of pictures to report on the huge numbers of people out supporting.

As for giving red arrows for the subject - I also cover some work for a local 999 news service - again people will condemn us for photographing and reporting on the incidents and then greedily lap up the results of our work.  If I was sensitive to needing everyone to like me I would not be here.  I am comfortable with my decisions and have no issue explaining to polite enquiries.  I do not expect everyone to agree but it would be nice if certain groups stopped painting the world as black and white filled with saints and monsters.

Good photo. Vile people who think persecuting a wild animal to death is a worthy of turning out. And yes, I do live in the countryside and know all about country life.

Torturing animals for our entertainment -- bullfighting, fox hunting, rodeos, etc. -- is something we need to get rid of. It's taking a long time unfortunately. Traditions die hard. In the meantime, it's good that photographers document these cruel activities. One day people will probably look back at pictures like this in disbelief.

Its the amount of kids in the image that makes me sad. These kind of folk would probably turn out for public executions if they were reintroduced. Thats why I prefer animals to people. Most People these days I find untrustworthy, self obsessed and insincere. Animals are unconditional. I better stop there or I may  be visited by three ghosts. Then again I am a bit of a loner who doesn’t like socialising unless Absolutley necessary. Having said that there are some good people out there thank God.

Uh, we do get that the hounds are now chasing a vicious piece of rag they never catch right?

The photo above is taken by the hunts official photographer who works professionally - and his shots of the jumps are incredible.

And in case anyone is interested - that village is the (or one of the) birth place of modern photography.

We're a very odd and contradictory species alright, but a potentially smart one as well. Evolution hopefully isn't done with us just yet.

Happy New Year

A little less of the negativity, please. This isn’t a forum for social comment.

Evolution is only a theory. Don’t get me started on that one.

Star,

You are not in my book.....

P.S. Alamy always has someone to speak to on Live News.  They have been

really great, but then again I've been contributing to Live News since it started...

Chuck

I will come back and re read this in the morning - as right now it is befuddling me.

Possibly the old problem of trying to work out context from typewritten words (I am constantly guilty of aiming for the ironic good humour and accomplishing sounding like a Richard)

More likely a problem with mixing Martini and scotch.
