  1. Has anyone had much experience with "Refunds" and Returns... I had a huge sale.....I was thrilled....but ....3 weeks later it was returned/refunded.... Does anybody have any stories about why this happens..??? Usually, not such a big deal...but this was such a big sale......I'm so disappointed... Also, the sale was for massive usage, including billboard, tv, display, ads, etc.,etc It makes me wonder, who the buyer was?.... I'm a little suspicious ....
  2. Does anyone else find that a lot of their images sold for "Personal use, Personal prints, cards and gifts, or reference for artists" are purchased and then refunded a few weeks later ? I find it hard to believe that these very high resolution photos are regularly downloaded for small amounts of money, refunded and then never used. What are other member's experiences ?
  3. I got a video clip sale refunded from 18 months ago, $450 licenced April 2016 refunded 19 December 2017. Is there no time limit for refunds?
  4. I’ve taken a look round the forums, and the subject of “personal use” photos has already had plenty of debate. One I sold last month on that basis was almost undoubtedly not for personal use … it’s of the pre-amp unit of a guitar (see AFK256). To add insult to injury, the sale was refunded a few days into this month, creating an issue where someone downloaded one of my pictures, presumably used it and stored it for future commercial use, and finally got his/her fee refunded too… So, a couple of issues: Is there not a case for no refunds being given on “personal use” photos? Do the infringements team look at all refunds as the most likely source of potential misuse? I could, of course, just opt out of personal use sales, but before I do so, I’d like to know a lot more, so I’d be interested to know what anyone else thinks on these points, and any other measures that could be put in place to limit misuse.
  5. I have generally been a supporter of the open-style reporting from Alamy, even if getting sales refunded is disappointing. Recently, however, it has become quite depressing, as many of my healthiest sales have been refunded - one resold at a lower price but the others all just gone. Has anyone else seen an increase recently or have I just been really unlucky?
  6. I'm not as active as I once was with selling stock so I don't often go looking through my Alamy account balance. Last night I had cause to pull up my account balance and I trawled through it in detail. I noticed that there were two sales in 2009 that had never cleared and I had never been paid for. Because it was late at night I decided not to do anything about it at that time, but leave it till this morning to contact MS to find out what was going on with them. As I logged on to the site this morning - both of those sales were showing as 'refunded' with a refund date of TODAY! Is this just a strange co-incidence or are Alamy monitoring what we do on the site - did someone or some AlamyBot see that I had looked at those sales yesterday and flag them up to be refunded?? I'm starting to wonder if I need to break out the tin foil hat again! ;-)
  7. On the seventh of this month I had one of those nice $180 textbooks sales. On the tenth, it sold again, same details, but was, not surprisingly, refunded later that day. This morning it's popped up again. I'm fully expecting the same thing to happen, but fingers crossed. I've had duplicated sales and refunds before, but never twice in the same month. Has this happened to anyone else this month? (Edit - the second was another sale, not a slae, thankfully)
  8. When you look at you sales via the pseudonym summary, the total sales and zooms are shown, but the stats do not take account of refunds. If an image has been sold, then refunded and resold with a change, it shows up as two sales. Could the refunds not be included?
