  1. I'm thinking of ordering Luminar 4, has anyone seen the demo for the Luminar 4 upgrade and planning to purchase one. Also how does it compare to Lightroom . Thanks in advance.
  2. Here is a great video about how to preserve the 3D look when your camera reduces your image to 2D. Depth of field or lack of it, light direction, contrast, colour, perspective, haze, fog, are all our friends. Sometimes conventional shooting, and by the book processing, works against 3D and diminishes the image. The presenter uses the word "landscape" but it applies to other subjects as well. https://fstoppers.com/education/how-create-more-depth-your-landscape-images-368548
  3. Newish to Alamy so needed some advice Although I joined a few years ago only posted a few photos then not used this site for a few years. I am having issues with Processing the images I download and then fill in all the relevant information on the right...after that it seems to take an age while i just see the 'processing' screen and nothing happens What am i doing wrong?
  4. I uploaded 51 images yesterday but they are still processing with grey boxes. I should have uploaded just a few at a time, I know, but I forgot. Now I am not sure what to do. In the past if I reuploaded, some of the orignal ones eventually came in and then I had two of some images, which is a mess. I wish I could just delete the ones I uploaded or clear them some way and start over. Should I just assume that those are forever stuck and re-upload, or just wait indefintely to see if they go away or something? When I did that before (yes, I should have learned my lesson) it took weeks or months for them to go away. I'd like to know how Alamy would want me to handle this situation or how other contributers do it. Thanks.
  5. I have just tried to upload ~6 photos via FTP and Image Manager for Live News. They are "processing errors" and blank thumbnails. Does anyone know what this is?
  6. As I have said in another thread I am in the process of trialling a probable switch from C1Pro to Lightroom. I just need a quick tip as I have to recover some lost time due to the C1 problems. My usual approach with C1 is to tweak the exposure to roughly centralise the histogram (especially if it is short) and then adjiust the black and whiote points to spread it out across the full tonal range. I then go on to fine tune adjustments, mid-point, contrast and lift shadows/highlights with white/blackpoint adjustment if necessary before noise reduction etc. Usually takes me no longer than it takes to read this. How do I stretch out the histogram in LR? At this stage I just want to quickly get the image in the right area tonally before doing detailed adjustments. All I have found so far is how to stretch the shadows, highliughts, midtones etc separately which is not what I want at the start (may go one to do that once the images is somewhere near). Thanks
  7. I've just got a Fuji XT1 and 18-55mm kit lens and am using Lightroom 5.6 for processing. I'm wondering what standard import settings people are using, particularly Clarity/Vibrance; & Capture sharpening. I've been playing about and I'm not convinced that I've got the ideal combo yet. My settings are usually; Clarity +20/Vibrance+16. Standard LR sharpening. These work great with the Canon 5DMKII and the Fuji X100, but seem a bit soft with the XT1. Also I see that Adobe do not have a lens profile for the 18 - 55mm Fuji, any thoughts re this? TIA Phil
  8. I think a lot of us are still trying to get a handle on what will and won't be accepted for Stockimo, and which Apps will give us the best results. I learn by example so I thought a discussion of actual images and how they are modified might be helpful. If you are willing to share, please show us your successes and failures, both can be instructive, and what apps you used to modify the successful images (you don't have to say exactly which filters you used if you don't want to, just the App). I'll start off with one of my images that was first rejected, and after cropping it square and boosting the contrast and saturation with the Adobe Photoshop App it was accepted and scored 3.0.I tried posting the "before" image to both my Zenfolio portfolio and to Facebook but the image wouldn't drag in. The best I could do is a link. As you can see the difference between passing and failing isn't that much. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=335762966571754&set=a.139987982815921.32435.100004141602133&type=1 Here's the edited image from Adobe Photoshop App
