I still cannot get an image In ACR to open in PS. I’ve looked on the internet, but the one solution I found didn’t work. The reason I’m here today is I somehow turned a grid on in PS. I don’t remember doing it so I can’t figure out how to turn it off. I’ve looked at all the tools on the left side, explored the columns at the top. I suspect I’m blind & don’t recognize it when I see it. Anybody know how to remove it? I’m working on some portraits & really need to see the skin without a grid on it. And yes, I’m working in PS, but only able to do it through LR >edit in. Not through ACR. If I decide to uninstall ACR & PS,(I have the Adobe monthly subscription) how do I do it, and how do I reinstall them? Do I need to go to the Adobe site? First…THE GRID! 🤭

Hoping I can get advice on correcting an image in Photoshop ! I have no idea what caused the fault line in this negative, it hasn't seen the light of day since I took it in the late 1980s ! It is the only frame on the film that has the fault and I can only assume something was between the camera and my friend. I only use Photoshop for basic corrections and have little experience of using layers which I suspect may be required here ... and I have no doubt to many in the forum, it will be a very simple straightforward fix ! Any advice on how to darken the bottom half of the image to match the top half and removing the dividing line, in simple terms, will be much appreciated ! I've attended the free AdobeMAX Virtual conference for the past two years and have learned so much despite already being quite adept at Photoshop and Lightroom. In person, I think it cost $1,400, not including flights, hotels, food, etc. I've found that throughout Covid, Adobe has really made a commitment to its customers with free classes throughout the year, meetups on Discord, and making this conference available to everyone. There are classes 24 hours a day, so no matter your time zone, you can attend some live as well as watching videos of others that interest you. Anyway, thought many of you would appreciate the head's up. The joy of creation is something I think we all love, or we wouldn't be doing this.

Just a heads up for anyone like myself that is using an older operating system and has a Photoshop cc package ... I am running the ancient Mountain Lion os on my Mac which is fine but is now too long in the tooth and I am now finding that Safari, for example, will not work on many sites ... but overall it still works fine so I haven't upgraded as of yet. I am now getting a countdown box on my Photoshop cc that informs me as of today, it will only work for another 24 days as there is no connection to Adobe for verification which is no surprise as it tries to use Safari for the verification process. I contacted Adobe on their chat line and spent a fruitless 30 minutes with a disinterested and unhelpful "advisor", the upshot being that Adobe and Apple have decided between them that older os will no longer be supported. In my case for the Mac os, Photoshop will no longer work on any os older than Mojave so it's a case of upgrade the os or get a new Mac if I wish to continue with Photoshop ! I am now in the process of backing up everything that I haven't backed up already and will attempt to upgrade in 2 stages, from Mountain Lion to high Sierra and from there to Mojave. The Apple website indicates that I should be able to upgrade my Mac, just, although I have also noted the advice that MDM kindly gave me in the sky replacement tool thread in that my system may not cope with it ... but I don't really have a choice unless I get an older Windows pc and install the Photoshop 4 that I have on disc ! The joy of being tied to a subscription and being at the mercy of big tech I guess but if anyone else is using an older os wether on Mac or Windows, be aware that you may lose Photoshop very soon if you are on the cc subscription ...

I found this very interesting tutorial on how to create a rainbow not using the sky replacement tool. It's a bit more involved, but I think the results look a lot more natural. I also found out that there is a default feature using the gradient tool. Photoshop's built-in "Russell's Rainbow", who knew? Not me. There has been a lot of talk regarding highlight and shadows lately. Is there anybody here using that function in PS? Go to Image>Adjustments>Shadows & Highlights>Advanced. So glad I discovered this. I've been told by many in the forum to check my photos for sharpness at 200% on a Retina Display screen and have been doing so for some years now on my MacBook Pro when I am out and not able to use my iMac which has a regular screen, since the Retina Display screen makes everything appear so sharp. No more! I was toodling around on Adobe's site and came across this method for making the display on your Retina Screen emulate a regular screen in Photoshop, which means I get a better sense of how sharp an image really is, whether I may want to downsize slightly, and what any noise may actually look like. It also makes me more comfortable that I haven't oversharpeded my RAW photos when I view them this way. I thought this might be helpful for others who rely on their laptops while traveling. I've taken classes with her at PhotoExpo and read her stuff/watch her videos a lot. Great way to learn & keep my skills sharp. There is so much you can do in Photoshop and Lightroom, that there is always something new to learn. If you have other tips for checking sharpness, feel free to add them to this discussion.

I'd like to find out more about enhancing photo's. Not necessarily how to go about learning a photoshop type program, but more along the lines of what types of things you do to make an average photo stand out within the program. I understand the technical side of taking a photo. I even know a few things about processing film, but with digital cameras and no film, seems to me the processing side would be more along the lines of enhancing an image in Photoshop or other like programs. I'm curious to know if there are certain things that an average photographer can do on the processing side to improve the quality of an image. I'm hoping this isn't one of those things professional photographers don't like to divulge because I'd really like to know.

How do I just obtain the Photoshop download on the monthly deal? When I go to the Adobe site all I can see available is the complete package deal at over £20 p.m. I guess I'm looking in the wrong place but if anyone can confirm I can just download Photoshop and provide a link I would appreciate it. How do I save a 27MB NEF file to jpg so it is at least 17MB in Photoshop CC? When I go to save as jpg, it goes to 8 MB and no higher.

Hello, I am new in Photography but have gotten heavily into it. I take photo's daily as much as possible and spend a great deal of time learning how to post process the photo's in Photoshop better and learning the in's and out's of the program. I'm left with a few questions after going through countless other photo's from good photographers. First, I notice their photo's are crystal clear and usually devoid of noise. I've tried using reduce noise to reduce the noise in my photo's, as well as using a small surface blur, and even tried using a second layer with the image on top of the first layer as overlay or screen to increase contrast. I've tried using high pass also. While those things seem to work to a minor degree (Nomatter what I put the settings to) the images don't turn out like what I see with the professionals. While they look nice, if zoomed in to max resolution you see issues. If I use reduce noise or blur to fix the noise, it becomes too blurry. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to shoot photo's, using pro mode so that I have as much control as possible and even doing zoom manually to get the sharpest picture possible. I have the ISO setting at 50 or 100, sometimes 200 if it's dark. I realize shooting with a high ISO will cause noise so I keep it as low as possible and try to shoot in well lit area's. I adjust the shutter speed to allow only as much light as necessary to avoid blurry pictures, and in the settings I tell the camera to save the raw dng files so that I have more to work with post processing. I realize I need a better camera, but I don't have enough money at the moment to upgrade. I was hoping to make money with what I have so that I could buy a professional DSLR camera. So, the questions I have for you guys are: 1.) What is the best entry level camera? I don't have a lot of money to spend, but I need something better than this Smartphone I imagine. I've read the best entry level is the Nikon D3300 or D3400. 2.) How much better is an entry level DSLR over a Galaxy S6 Edge? Will the photo quality improve greatly? 3.) What kind of post processing in Photoshop do you normally do to make images look their best? Are there any good tips on making images crisp/clear and noise/artifact free? I was under the impression that the Photoshop "Image size" window was a reliable guide to the suitability of the size of my uploading image; however, this appears not to be the case. Moreover, the crucial part of the Alamy Image Manager's error message is unreadable, and won't scroll into view. Please refer to This Dropbox folder for screen shots. As you can see, Photoshop thinks the size would be 19.6M. Alamy's automated QC check obviously thinks differently, but I'm unable to read what it thinks. I've seen talk on this forum of some kind of Alamy image size checker, but I haven't found it yet. If someone could direct me to this Alamy image size checker and explain how to use it, I would be very grateful.

I have been trying to update to Photoshop 2018. It crashes everytime and even the crash report crashes. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck. Anyone else have this issue and find away around it? Jill
