  1. Hi there, This is my first post on the Forum, so I hope I’m in the correct section etc. Would it be ok to promote my Alamy images on a website I am building? The plan would be to use the image to illustrate an article on the website and provide a direct link to the Alamy image licensing page. The images would obviously be low resolution and watermarked. Apologies if this has been covered before. Steve PS. - any examples of this being done already would be welcomed.
  2. Hey everyone, I’m Alex, a new photographer at Alamy. I’ve got a few questions :) 1) How long exactly does it take for my images to be reviewed? I’ve heard a day and 3 weeks, but I just wanted some confirmation. :) 2) Is there a way I can stay signed in? Every time I sign in, after awhile I’m out again... 3) Can I not add a payment method (for now)? I’m willing to add one later, but will my account balance be rest if I add/change one? 4) Will my images go live after I add the tags/title/etc., or does Alamy have to do a quick check? :) 5) How can I create and access my portfolio? I know the URL is something like alamy.com/portfolio/username, but it doesn’t work... Thanks!
  3. On the Alamy Image Manager page, my image count is given as 3040. However, on my dashboard, the total of images under Status comes to 2859, a difference of 181. Does anyone have an explanation for this? Iain Lowson
  4. I have contributed to Alamy almost 10 years now and have well over 15,000 images online. I average a minimum of several image license sales every week of the year. I have been shooting professionally for over 30 years, using digital capture and Adobe Photoshop for almost 15 years, and have never had a digital image rejected for quality reasons by any other stock agent, including Getty, except by Alamy. In recent months I have experienced what I perceive to be inconsistencies in the Quality Control measures. After going years without a QC Failure, I have had two batches of images fail in recent months. The images were captured with a Canon EOS 1DX and Leica M9-P. In both cases I made (from the original files that Failed QC) beautiful 16x20” prints and sent them in to Alamy for further consideration. In both cases Alamy QC said the images were not up to their standards. I completely disagreed with their assessment, but to no avail. I am seriously considering pulling my images from Alamy. The amount of time spent properly preparing & submitting images against the increasingly low fees is not providing a very good return on investment. I am wondering if anyone else is having similar, inconsistent, problems with the quality-control group? Mark Weidman _______________________________ H. 5. I have image on Sthutterstock, Fotolia,Istock,Dreamstime,123Rf and Alamy. In all of them i have sells, but not in Alamy, why? What kinds of images could be sell on Alamy?
  6. I've just passed 10,000 images with Alamy!!! It's taken me nearly 12 years but i've made it before the end of the year, which was my aim at the beginning of the year. Here's to the next 10,000, which hopefully won't take as long! John.
  7. Hi everyone, I'm new to Alamy and am slowly feeling my way through the procedures. One thing I haven't been able to find an answer to is how to get a link to a specific image and/or a folder of images on Alamy. I would like to promote my images on social media and provide a link back to an image, or a folder of images on Alamy's site. I know you can provide a search bar to search your images, but I'm looking for a different solution. I appreciate your help. Cheers, Tim Anger
  8. Hi All, I am a photographer for many years, have no problem to pass QC here. I 've accumulated about 5000 images here. most of them have 50 keywords with good caption. But nothing was soled. why ?
  9. Dear All, I am very new and gave only 3 photographs for sale. After 2 days I find that my images are on sale with Poor Discoverability! How do I increase or covert it to Good or Optimized? Would be grateful if I get the advice! Thanks in advance Best Abhijit
  10. I'll kick this off with this historic villa overlooking Lake Como. I added grain in post-production and happy that Alamy QC didn't have any issues! Have a great May everybody.
  11. I'm sure there must be an answer for this but how easy is it to determine how many times an individual image has sold? I would like to easily see which images are selling and which to cull. Many thanks in advance. BW, John
  12. I've just passed the 5000 images milestone. At least 95% were taken on a Sony RX100 M1 or more recently a secondhand Sony RX100 M3. I have no other photographic equipment and just use Adobe Elements 14 for editing. Most were taken on days out/holidays which is where the small Sony comes into it's own. I can snap away while out with family and friends without disrupting the day or appearing rude. Anyone considering one of these cameras should look at my portfolio by clicking on the total images figure on the right. Stock photography on a shoestring maybe, but I have sales every month which are a useful boost to my state pension. John
  13. I would value some input on the shooting format my fellow contributors use. I currently shoot everything in RAW format with almost all camera with little or no in camera processing etc. This means I must must edit every image before submission etc and this makes for a very laborious and time consuming process. I have very recently been looking at samples of a friends portfolio shot with a quality Lumix compact camera in JPEG format and his results are very impressive indeed even without much post shoot processing. This holds good even for images printed on large canvasses and on display in his home. I would love to hear some responses and comments on the merits and demerits of JPEG shooting for stock photography purposes. Any constructive criticism or advice will be gratefully received. Thanks
