Screen brightness and printing
Steve F posted a topic in Alamy Quality Control and technical talkHey guys and girls, I just had a couple of my paintings printed professionally from high quality photos that I took (tif format), as a test for a larger scale print run. The quality was very good, but both came out quite dark. I'm using a HD screen and it is colour calibrated. But I'm wondering, is the darkness due to the printer settings (for which I have no info), or could it be because I have the screen set too bright when I'm editing photos? I normally set it one level below max. brightness. Has anyone got any thoughts? Does my portfolio look a bit dark for example??? Thanks, Steve
I have just changed the settings on my computer and monitor to reduce glare and brightness. Unsurprisingly the way my images now appear has changed. Many look too saturated with colour and also appear too dull even though they have been accepted by QC both on this site and on other stock sites. Obviously in many respects these are subjective observations but is there an unexpensive way to ensure standardisation of brightness and colour saturation levels etc to make them more universally acceptable. i may not have presented my question is a very coherent way but I hope you understand what i mean.
