  1. Hi. I found that we have a forum for photography issues, but there isn’t a forum for illustration issues. Is it because Alamy is stock photography site and Illustrations are less important? Sometimes I see a very few topics on illustration on this site, but not enough. I started learning ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR to sell vector illustration images on Alamy and other sites. I thought that it would be nice to exchange ideas and experience with other illustrators on this site. Excuse me If this kind of topic has been already discussed in the past.
  2. I just had a great idea on how to easily make millions at this business, and thought I'd mess with vector illustration a bit. So I had a few fundamental technical questions for anyone who would be kind of enough to answer. I do understand the basic concept of how vector files work as opposed to raster files. And I've gone thru a few informative, online tutorials. But I'd still like to know if "vector files" created in Photoshop CC using "paths" to design shapes can be saved as EPS files that are perfectly compatible with Alamy standards. (assuming all the technicals are perfect, of course). That is, can I get by solely with Photoshop or not at all, and will need to utilize other programs such as Illustrator? And then, after creating a vector file in PS, do you need to flatten all the layers before saving and uploading to Alamy? Plus, let's say you get that really nice design. Is it a good idea to make many similar variations- like changing sky colors, adding clouds, or other elements? Plus I've dabbled in making a vector illustration in PS, (using pen paths and filling shapes), but can I then use the art brush within those shapes so that the final product becomes an artistic (even painterly) illustration all as a genuine vector?
  3. Hello guys, im a new contributor on Alamy. Hope sales have been good for you all. As a illustrator that works with vector mostly i was quite surprised to see that they sell all vectors for 9.99 as opposed to photos/illustrations where there are alot of pricing options. So my question is - for a contributor, whats the advantage of uploading the vector file instead of only the jpeg? It seems like uploading the vector file will limit the amount of money he can make with the sales. Would love to read your opinions on this before uploading my work.
  4. In the case of complex vector images is it OK to upload a separate Jpeg version? (assuming that potential illustration buyers do not search the vector category only for simple designs.)
  5. TIA for any info/opinions. I have a number of photos that are not suitable for uploading as jpegs (file size too small, mostly) but that IMO make very nice vector art. My questions after looking through the forum are: 1. I've seen some reference to other sites more suitable for highly edited photos. Should I be looking elsewhere to sell vectors created by converting jpegs? These are images such as the Jamaa el Fna night market in Marrakech, taken from above, where converting to a vector with medium detail makes it look more like an impressionistic painting. Alamy, or elsewhere? 2. Model releases . . . same as for photos? If I have a jpeg converted to much a less detailed vector image that has wholly unrecognizable human figures in the distance . . . do I have to list this as people present, no releases? Sorry if this kind of question has been asked over and over in different forms.
  6. Did I missed the information that the price for vector images has been decreased from 49.99 to 9.99? Lowering the price by 80% would be nice to know.
  7. I hope this isn't a daft question, but is there a minimum file size that Alamy like for vectors as there is for jpgs?
  8. Hello, I created some logos (from different movies) and I d like to know if its better to sell them as illustrations (JPEG) or as vectors (EPS) ? I am hesitating because I know that illustrations can be sold at a higher price than vectors. But maybe there are more buyers for vectors?? What do you think?
  9. Hello, I am new here. How can I upload my vector images? For now, I have uploaded four photo images for inspection. I have just few photos and a lot of vector illustrations.
  10. Can anyone please tell me if the vector images that Alamy sell are AI files or Jpegs? Thanks in anticipation.
