  1. Hi I was pretty much dormant here on Alamy since 2007, with 75 images and 2 sales. End of 2017 I decided to try again, with a target plan for 2018 being 1000 images and one sale. I managed to go above and beyond on both, and have now several sales. However, I still don't understand one thing. None of the zooms I had since the end of 2017 resulted in a sale, and equally none of the sales were shown as a zoom (I think both these statements mean the same J ). Can anyone explain this to me? Thank you Pawel
  2. Hi I noticed that number of zooms for my images reduced overnight by one (not sure about the views). Does not concern me particularly, but I struggle to image what could be the reason for this. Any ideas?
  3. Question: What is YOUR favorite lens, and why should everyone else agree with you?
  4. I have no sell any images over the last 3 month but my zoom is 33. I can not properly understand what difference between zoom and sell as well as CTR. IS zoom is my future sell? Could you please tell me and how I can increase my sell. Many Thanks
  5. Looking to My Images today i noticed a behaviour that makes me think again to the relationship between CTR and similars. When i initially upload a batch of images which contains let's say 3-5 similars per subject i see a huge number of views for these images, let's say hundreds. I have these pictures foundable by "classroom Mali Africa" which initially returned 200-500 views/week for about 100 pictures. I guess that was probably because customers filters "New" so ALL my pictures of that topic were displayed in the search. At that stage 200-500 views/week for "classroom Mali Africa" were too much and in fact my CTR was affected and a few zooms and sales resulted. So, similars were badly affecting CTR but there was a benefit for me: at least 1 picture out 5 similars was the right one for customers and they bought some. Today, for the similar search i've let's say 30 Views (the ones more appreciated by customers) but these Views are only of the best performers with more chances of zooming so my CTR is higher. In the long run, similars not interesting for customers will disappear from searches so they'll not represent any issue at all. Let's sum.... similars generate customer curiosity if the topic is interesting, so not bad at all if viewed in this perspective right?
  6. I'm so excited – I just got my seventh view! Okay, okay. All you grizzled and gnarly old togs out there are variously snorting, laughing, yawning, examining your nails, rolling eyes, expressing utter disdain, feigning utter disdain, and throwing rotten veg in this direction. But it's ground breaking stuff for me - seven views! You wait until I get an actual zoom. (Sales, we won't mention) If any other noobs want to pitch in, feel free (first view/sale/zoom/CTR/massive sale/OBE/etc) – oh, and you big guns can as well, but it better be good – Leonardo da Vinci good.
  7. Since i started uploading to Alamy (1 year yesterday) i was wondering why a buyer should zoom an image. These are some of my conclusions: a) to expand a tiny thumbnail which is poorly visible b to check the final price (useful for RM) c) to buy the image d) to verify which other similar pics a contributor has e) to double check an image before buying it Which other reasons come in mind to you guys? 1 year, i have 2 sales out of 47 zooms so it seems case c) is just 4% of the total reasons
  8. I like to browse the Customer search activity of Alamy measures to identify possible clients interest. Specifically I search for search terms, that yield only a small number of pictures. What about an advanced search for the "All of Alamy" measures, where we could enter ranges for UCO, Sales,Zooms, Views and CTR. That way one could search a specific area of interest and narrow it down to say - terms that sold at least once, resulted in a CTR of x to y%, but yielding only 1 to 99 images. or any other combination. Also the number of search words could be an interesting parameter - ie only results containing Whisky with three or four words in the search term This would help to identify shortages in Alamy's image base within the photographers areas of interest. Any support for this from fellow "Alamists"?
  9. Whatever contributors think of the new suggestion of similar images that come up with a zoom, could the 'edit' option for the photographer please be put BEFORE the other images - I've just been adding a keyword to several of mine and it requires a lot of scrolling.
  10. When I am on the forum I often have a look at members photos as I am curious to see what sort of photos they have on sale. But if I zoom on any of them does that get recorded and show up on your Alamy measures?
  11. Anybody here using the Canon 16-35mm f/4 L lens. I have been struggling for some time with the 17-40mm and it's soft corners on a full frame, i understand that the 16-35 f/4 is better in this area. Some real user advice would be very appreciated. Thanks! Paul.
  12. Hi everybody, Has it happen to you already to sell pictures that were never previously zoomed by clients ? It happened to me and I find it strange, I wouldn't buy a picture without looking carefull at it before. Thank your for your insight
  13. I've been unable to find a way to increase the size of the thumbnails, window, fonts etc while keywording in manage images 2.4. Has anyone found a way to do that? Alamy, is it possible to incorporate a tool like that in a future version of manage images?
  14. Hi everyone. I am relatively new here. I joined around April this year. After a few weeks I had my first sale for a total of $134, and since then nothing. I have also noticed that the amount of zooms I am getting is very low. This month so far 0! For you more experienced contributors, what am I doing wrong? It may also be nothing, but I would really appreciate some advice. http://www.alamy.com/stock-photography/C2D9A136-7CF6-4E3E-916A-A8BFE487D575/Stephen%20Allen.html Thanks for your help, I think I need all I can get Steve
  15. Just had a look at my year-to-date figure for sales v zooms. No convoluted scientific reasoning behind it, just curious and was wondering how others compare. Since January 1, I'm getting roughly one sale for every four zooms (total zooms divided by total sales). Anyone else getting anything similar? (Don't know whether one in four is particularly good or bad by the way).
