  1. I've looked at the other topics discussing this issue, and none seemed to be exactly on point. I just got a bunch of photos passed of a tourist attraction here in the US. Not a vastly popular one, but in an area where surprisingly I've licensed a fair number on Alamy and some via my site on Photoshelter too - I think that these are two places where editors go for those hard to find images. I'm tempted to tick "exclusive to Alamy" because they are not the types of images I expect to sell often, hence I've uploaded them here, and I don't expect they'd be a big draw on either of the other two macro sites where I could also upload them, but obviously just having them here lowers my chance of licensing elsewhere. Have you found that ticking "exclusive to Alamy" has boosted sales? I know the extra 10% is nice and am kicking myself that I've had a few sales of images that are only here but which I did not tick as "exclusive." Most of my Alamy images are not on sale elsewhere, but I'm reluctant to restrict them. I'd love know what people's experience has been so far with this new development. I'm also not sure how much this locks me in. Am I correct that I can still license an image myself? How long is the exclusive period for? Can I change them back by giving Alamy a certain amount of notice? Has "exclusive" been defined? At other sites it usually locks you in for 6 months, or 2 years, or 5 years. Does anyone know what the time is here? Thanks for input.
  2. I have come across some subjects where there are very few images available, one even with no images. So my immediate thought was to upload new ones to fill that gap, but a search on all of alamy shows no search queries for past 12 months. Should I still bother here? Any thoughts?
  3. OK, I'll go first. Dreadful month: five sales, netting me <$56. 😞 To add insult to injury, my best-value sale of the month was refunded the day after it was invoiced and re-invoiced at 20% less. Uniquely in years, not one UK Newspaper sale. 3Bs, a J and a P. I've been uploading a lot; clearly just not what buyers want to buy.
  4. Hey all, it's about a year ago that I made my first submission to Alamy. With over 6000 photos online and with only a few sales yet I'm thinking about improving keywords and captions. Do you have any ideas what I can do better, should avoid or what mistakes I should definitely correct? Please note that I have already read the guides on keywording on Alamy. Or do I just need more patience? Cheers, Caspar
  5. Hi, l have been editing my photos description and keywords to try and improve there searchability. The bar at the top of the editing window remains static and will not turn green from orange, green indicating good discoverability. Can somebody give me advice on how to improve this. Thank you. Chris
  6. Hi First post on here & I would be very grateful for any feedback you may have to offer. SALES DECLINE My sales up to the end of 2018 were increasing roughly in line with the number of photos online, achieving an average of just under a sale a week last year. However my sales for Jan-Mar 2019 have been almost nil and I am at a loss to explain this sudden drop. I would have expected them to remain constant even without the 1000+ images I have keyworded from late 2018 onwards. FYI I am still getting roughly the same zooms. Has anyone else experienced a drop in sales with Alamy this year? Many thanks in advance, Regards, Rich
  7. It seems my total revenues on Alamy started to decline as soon as i converted quite all my pics to RF. I only left some pics to RM whose are the ones which sell better at the moment. Anyone experiencing the same?
  8. Since 1 week i'm having 0 for sales, zooms ...no views at all! I'm a bit worried... am i banned or did something wrong my ranking decreased a lot? Anyone having the same behaviour? It's the first time in about 3 yrs on Alamy something like that is happening. CTR is a bit above average
  9. Oh my goshhh! It's snowing hard in Florence (more on the mountains/hills around) and i'm strongly tempted to go out on Sat/Sun to grab awesome stock pics (and videos). It's not so common to have snow like this in our city and around. The "issue" is that i will change my house just tomorrow and this weekend will be full for me and my partner managing all dressed and stuff on the new home. We also have children and this is the first time they will sleep in the same house together (me and my partner are divorced from respectively wife/husband). I'm tempted to go shooting outside on the snow alone on sat/sunday but.... i don't wanna risk another divorce so... i'll go for "LOVE" instead of "STOCK" and stay home with my family And you?... have you ever been in this "hard" situation? or how will you behave if you had?
  10. The first of the year - and surprise, surprise, it's a 'Presentation or newsletter'.
  11. Hello dedicated photographers! This topic may have been questioned before long ago. But I need clearer answers based on your own experience, not theoretical one. Is it right RF photos are tend to get more sales than RM these days? Because I saw usual buyers are often from repeater companies, like The Sun, BBC, Guardian, and other media from British and Europe. This makes me assume ordinary buyers from another countries are prefer to buy RF than RM. What do you think? Thanks
  12. Ten sales, $120 net. Also a refund from October rebought for $7.50 more net.
  13. (Rubbing hands with glee) three sales dropped in today......hope it’s not done. Betty
  14. I have sales that remain uncleared since c June 2018...do some customers have credit lines? I would have expected Alamy to demand payment upfront, especially when these are relatively small amounts?
  15. Hey everyone I was wondering when you guys got your first sale. Im new to this so i was wondering if anyine wanted to give me some insights. Thank you!
  16. Hi, Four small sales today pushed me over the big 1000 sales milestone on alamy. I joined Feb 2010, so it took me just under 8 years and 7 months to get there. How long did it take you? Andy
  17. When I read threads about how few zooms turn into sales, I’m confused. A big percent of my zooms turn into sales. Sometimes a certain month is less, but on the whole, zooms bode well for me. Of my last 12 sales, 10 were zoomed. Its harder to evaluate looking at the zooms showing on my page right now because many times the sales take awhile to show up. All I can do is look at my sales and notice the ones that were zoomed. For me, the statements I often read here about how few zooms translate into sales makes me scratch my head. Am I alone here? Betty
  18. I see that some of this is being reported in the 'slow month' thread, but I think it deserves its own thread. So I'll start. I only just noticed that May was my lowest month for $$, for at least twelve months - but April was the highest! June has perked up again, 10 sales, c$120 net. Means that not counting last years' catch up of 22 back sales, I'm just over half last year's earnings, with fewer sales, over the first six months. I've resumed uploading at a 'reasonable' (?!) level over the last seven months; the sales were: 5xB, 1xC, 1XD, 2xF, 1xJ. It's surely a waiting game, but 2 of the Bs and the C were upgrades of previous sales. Thanks to the honest buyer.
  19. Last year i was optimistic that things turned around. I had 50 sales. But we are now half way thru 2018 and my sales are way way down and maybe no more for the year than in 2009. And yes, i keep uploading. I think that some of the other agencies have dropped their prices? Wondering if that is taking sales from alamy? I do know that AGE has dropped their prices a lot from this time last year.
  20. Dear All, I am very new and gave only 3 photographs for sale. After 2 days I find that my images are on sale with Poor Discoverability! How do I increase or covert it to Good or Optimized? Would be grateful if I get the advice! Thanks in advance Best Abhijit
  21. Hi, I've been a contributor now for around 12 years but only started really 'going for it' about a year ago. I've gone from 2,000 images last year to 7,200 images now and have not really seen an increase in either the volume or frequency of sales. Can anybody put any science around this or am I just expecting too much from an already saturated marketplace? Am I shooting the right range of stuff? Does anybody have a similar story to this? Thanks, Steve ( Steve Hawkins Photography)
  22. I don't have many images here yet, but I have already made 2 sales, which was probably more due to luck than anything! As expected, since then I have not made any further sales as of yet. My question is: do sales get affected by how active your account is? In other words, do you have to keep adding images to get more exposure or are search results not affected by your account activity? Theoretically, if you uploaded "the best" image of a particular subject, would it continue selling or would it get relegated to the bottom of search results as time goes by? Thanks
  23. I can't seem to get any sales, how can I start to get sales?
  24. To better understand RM vs RF battle i'd like to share my 2018 sales: - $$$ RM sales: 35% of total year revenues - $$ RM sales: 60% - $ RM sales: 5% I just started to sell RF on Alamy so i dont't have any sales at the moment . What's yours?
  25. Hi Everyone Can anyone please take a look at my portfolio and just give me some idea where im going wrong. Ive been submitting now for 2 months and not had one single sale. I sell to other microstock sites and do ok, why I am not getting sales here. Is my portfolio just not good enough or is what I photograph more related to microstock and shall I stop wasting my time submitting here Thank you in advance - Steve
