  1. I've 3500+ images on my port but following many contributor advices i decided to improve my existing images keywording instead of adding new ones. In particular looking at My Images i recently noticed that i've some Views related to the Location .. i mean , just the location keyword itself. For i.e. i've thousand of views for "Mali" which is strange.. I never imagined buyers searching for the country or the city only. In the above example i imagined searches like "Mali school" or "Mali children", from which i actually had views but much fewer than searches for the word "Mali" standalone. D
  2. Since i started uploading to Alamy (1 year yesterday) i was wondering why a buyer should zoom an image. These are some of my conclusions: a) to expand a tiny thumbnail which is poorly visible b to check the final price (useful for RM) c) to buy the image d) to verify which other similar pics a contributor has e) to double check an image before buying it Which other reasons come in mind to you guys? 1 year, i have 2 sales out of 47 zooms so it seems case c) is just 4% of the total reasons
  3. Hi Everyone I have been uploading and selling my portfolio since December. I have over 1500 images in my Alamy port so far. I like everything about the site except that I have not had one sale. I have lots of sales on other stock sites. So I am at a loss as to why none here. Most of my work is nature related and Pacific Northwest related. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks George Cole
  4. Just wondering how many of you are signed up to the Newspaper Scheme? I have been receiving good sales but tiny fees and have just opted out but I'm wondering if the clients will still see the images that are not in the subscription.
  5. We have nearly completed another year of Alamy sales and it is time to reflect, review and learn lessons. This chart I am very happy with : This chart I am not so happy with : Sales increasing nicely year on year, efforts being rewarded, careful keywording resulting in customers finding my images. But all that work, all the hours invested, to end up with a declining revenue stream feels like pedaling backwards on my bike or kayaking up a waterfall. Too many photographers I guess, too many images for customers to choose from, too easy to just use Google Images and grab any ima
  6. On 8th November, 2006 I opened my Alamy account and sent off my first submission - ten years ago today! This has given me the excuse to sift through the decade in terms of sales and content (and yes, I have better things to do): Total sales 844 Best sales volume, 2016 Best selling image, B0CMB3 Best ever net sale, $ 5838.47 (2011) (edited) Worst ever net sale, $0.35 (Mylene Klaas, 2011) Man hours spent on keywording, unknown Number of brand deletion requests (NT, Network Rail, Tate, Olympics etc,), unknown Number of personal deletion requests, 1 Most used keyword (probably), "Lon
  7. How was your October 2016? Mine was excellent thank you! A best month ever for sales volume with 21, BME for rolling sales for the month (29) and BME for rolling views for the month (10,106) Revenue wasn't too bad at $555 - highest sale $86.04. 1 refund which was rebought at exactly the same price and conditions plus 1 unreported sale. A very happy November bunny! John.
  8. Hello everyone, My questions may seem they come from a noob because in reality, they do. I often see a lot of people talking about CTR and Zooms, what are those and where can I check my stats? I have 66 pictures uploaded and on sale (I understand that's nothing), but my question is, how many pictures did you guys have before the first sale popped up? I have less than half of that on other sites and have had a few sales, though not many to be honest. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks everyone. David Edit - I've found out what CTR and Zooms are since creating this post henc
  9. Hi everyone, I joined Alamy a couple of months ago, and have now got 178 photos uploaded on here. I've very much an amateur rather than professional and I'm obviously not expecting huge sales through this site, but am a little concerned that so far I've only 411 views, and my CTR is 0. I've been careful with key wording, and have read around the forums for general advice, but I was wondering if anyone observed anything specific about my portfolio. I'm about to go on a 9 month trip around the world and plan to take a whole lot more photos! Can't wait Be great to get any views advic
  10. Hi all, Im sure this has been asked 10000 times but was wondering if someone could have a look see what I can do to increase sales and rank or any tips general to help me to improve my rank, would be most appreciated. I do know it takes time and effort and luck really as I only have 500+ images at the moment. Thanks in advance Peter
  11. I've been a contributor for about six years. My total income from Alamy is about $13,500. This year a whopping $243. Since 2012, the slide into oblivion has been accelerating to the point of nearly no action, as yet, I continue to feed the beast. Hasn't bothered me too much because of income from other companies, however, here it's July and with income of $243 it's hardly worth the effort continuing to contribute. I thought the expansion into the US as well as more attention to advertising would make a strong case for staying but this is out of hand now. Is there a consensus about what'
  12. I just had two sales show up, with exactly the same descriptors of usage, duration, etc. I was surprised to see that one was priced about half as much as the other. How can the prices be so different if the details are the same for the both of them? Thanks, Maria
  13. I see a lot of people talking about have sold a picture for $100, $200 and so on. I was wondering, how can I sale my pictures for more then only $0,90?
  14. Hi, anyone want to share their Stockimo sales average / low / high mine: $32,50 / $1,59 / $122,68 Update (13/07): $23,57 / $0,12 (SS-Sales) /$122,68 /Arthur
  15. How was your May 2016? Mine was average with 9 sales. Only $160 gross in total though. Lowest $2.23 (x2), which were distributors sales so netted me $0.67 -so about 40p! Highest $57.05. Views another record rolling month high. Zooms holding up to about average. John.
  16. EDIT: Scratch that - thought I'd found an unreported sale. But on second check it was there. The threads are STILL important!
  17. 10 sales, $97.47 net. So far I have about 1/3 of last year's cash, so holding steady, but 50% of last year's sales, so dollars per sale well down again. Zooms best of year; 20+ infringements reported in early Jan still to be processed.
  18. Let me share with you this case to know what you think. more than three months ago, Alamy asked me for one of its distributors one of my photos at a larger size. I did shipping, everything was right but now, nearly four months later, I have not received any notification about my photography and its possible sale. What is your opinion?. Thank you.
  19. Hello, I am kinda new here and these qustions might sound dumb, but I'm kinda discourged no ones bought my photos. Maybe you guy would have some suggestions to help me make some. Is this a kind of deal where you spend money to make money? What keywording companies do you use? Is rights managed a good option? Thanks, Jacob Y.
  20. I like to browse the Customer search activity of Alamy measures to identify possible clients interest. Specifically I search for search terms, that yield only a small number of pictures. What about an advanced search for the "All of Alamy" measures, where we could enter ranges for UCO, Sales,Zooms, Views and CTR. That way one could search a specific area of interest and narrow it down to say - terms that sold at least once, resulted in a CTR of x to y%, but yielding only 1 to 99 images. or any other combination. Also the number of search words could be an interesting paramete
  21. Hi all, i'm a newbie in Alamy but have some skills about the concept of CTR. We all know it's basically a "# of Zooms / # of Views" kind of thing, right? Higher CTRs mean usually more Sales (not a math relationship btw). As all math ratios, the more Views we have the worst CTR we're gonna expect from our pictures. Views are the result of a combination of multiple Keywords and math says the more Keywords the more combinations, so # of Views. for i.e. i had Views for the search term "Miami" alone of pictures i did of a Miami beach gay party which is NOT what i wanted since "Miami" keyword a
  22. How was your February 2016? Mine was average with 8 sales for $353. Lowest $5.59 (x2), highest $180. Had one refund, sold originally for $45, refunded then sold for the same licence for $43.34 - a saving of $1.66! Incidentally, rolling views for the month highest for 6 months, and rolling zooms highest ever!! John.
  23. Hi! I just signed up and I have one question: if a buyer uses my image, will it have a watermark or will my name still be attached to this photo? I know that somewhere this question will have been answered. Just some info on my question would be very much appreciated!
  24. I have some family photos from the Victorian era and slightly younger. say 1900 through to 1950s. Many of these were taken in studios, now long defunct, of my family members or their homes. Some are simply family "snapshots" Do I have any right to sell scanned versions of these on Alamy, or are they the Intellectual property of the original photographer?
