  14. I have been working with the new version of Lightroom (the Classic CC) for over a week now. Here are my first impressions. I would like to hear other users comments:
  15. Is anyone else frustrated with the lack of development in Lightroom when it comes to keywording? LR has been out for ten years and there has been next to no development in the area of keywording in that time. I have written an open letter to Adobe outlining just ten things that would make a huge difference to us as professional or stock photographers - you can read it here: https://www.ians-studio.co.uk/2017/10/an-open-letter-to-adobe-lightroom-keywording-ten-years-of-neglect/ I'd love to get this open letter in front of the powers that be at Adobe - if you agree why not tweet or share in social media tagging adobe and lightroom. Thanks Ian.
  16. I thought Adobe would improve this latest version of lightroom with a better keywording system, alas, no. So, I am going to start keywording in Bridge. Here's what I have so far Created several folders who what people where, etc within those folders a large amount of words If i click on an image and apply 4 or 5 keywords why do i get the folder names as well when I lightroom asks me to overwrite the data can show some images later if it helps
  17. Hello everyone I am new here (Passed QC about a week ago). I have prepared more images, but I'd like to make keywording as easy as possible. I have keyworded some of my images in Lightroom and would like to know if Alamy reads image metadata, that I see in LR (keywords, title, description) and will apply them after upload? Michael
  18. Is anyone still using Jim Keir's Alamy Lightroom plug-in? Does it still work? Does anyone know if it is still being supported? I have emailed Jim directly but am yet to get a reply and the last two tickets I raised on his support site (months ago) never got any reply. Also since Alamy changed from keywords (based on a number of characters) to tags/supertags (based on the number of tags) how does it the plugin handle that? Does it handle it? I haven't used the plug-in for some months, In that time there have been a number of changes at Alamy for managing and uploading images. I've just changed computer and I can't get the plug-in isn't installing correctly. I can possibly fix that problem myself but I'm reluctant to spend time on it if the product is now "dead in the water" Thanks Ian.
  19. Does anyone know what the compatible fields are for the new IM in LR, ie number of people, caption, place, etc?
  20. A Lightroom CC / Camera raw update is available details here: http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2016/12/lightroom-cc-2015-8-now-available.html
  21. Is there an automated way (e.g. preset) in LR to achieve a similar result to the auto-contrast function in PSE? I've tried the LR auto-tone and it messes with too many settings (highlights, shadows etc.) and I often don't like the result. I just want something that sets the black and white points automatically on a batch of images with varying exposure etc.
  22. I recently updated from LR4.4 to 6.5 and was disappointed to find it ran quite a bit more slowly. Especially when removing noise by adjusting sliders, there was a delay of 2-3 seconds before the 1:1 display updated. However, I've just updated from LR 6.5 to 6.6 and the speed has improved dramatically (now a fraction of a second to update 1:1 display when removing noise). I'm not sure if my previous install of 6.5 had a problem, but the latest is fine. There's a Youtube video about the speed improvement from CC 2015.5 to 2015.6 here. I've not found any issues with 6.6 yet.
  23. I am wondering what adjustments/functions would be considered digitally altering a photo by most people. It would include Alamy stock, Alamy news, or photo contests. Are there three different standards with three different requirements.. I have a friend that feels any manipulation of digital photos is taboo for photo contests and I believe almost anything I can do is acceptable. She and a lot of other people apparently believe that you can only do what used to be possible in a darkroom. So, what would be crossing the line for all the various purposes of a photo? I would like to get everyone’s opinions on what in particular would be changing the truth of a photo for whatever end use it is intentioned for. As software for digital manipulation becomes more sophisticated it is very hard to judge how much manipulation is too much.
