  1. Well, I guess it's about time to have my portfolio reviewed. It's been just over a year since I began uploading regularly. I wanted to feel my way into a bit and actually have something to be reviewed before posting here. I have experimented with photographing various things, and establishing my personal boundaries with regard to choice of subject matter. Decided I didn't want to shoot photos just to sell them, and would only take photos if I found something beautiful in them. See my "Does stock photography change your eye" thread regarding that. I have gone from being a prolific iphone camera hobbyist to investing in a mirrorless Sony a6000 and trying to up my game and perhaps sell a few photos professionally. I do think this practice has evolved my photography and I find it as thrilling as ever to produce and/or edit images on a near daily basis. I give credit to the very generous helpers here in this forum for any and all of my successes. I was sort of "shooting in the dark" there at the beginning. I do not yet have much control over the camera and have relied heavily on auto settings. I continue to ponder where to bring it all next, what to do with my photos, what to shoot and for whom. Let me know if you have any tips or insights, or ideas about how to move forward. Thanks a bunch! Kristin aka The Blinking Eye https://www.alamy.com/portfolio/kristincato
  2. Hello team, I'd appreciate any general feedback on my portfolio. I just set it up and tried to create some galleries based on subject matter. My content is all travel and animal based, which I understand isn't what is in demand. Thanks for your time and comments! https://www.alamy.com/portfolio/lexholder
  3. Hi, I am new to stock photography, basically because I like to learn a lot about photography, experiment, etc. and I thought why not start something that eventually throws out a few bucks. I am not sure if this is still possible from 2019 or if agencies took over and an individual amateur photographer has no chance at all to gain visibility. However, as a start I am asking myself the following question: Should I focus on quantity (shoot/upload as many good photos as possible) or on trend by shooting only specific required photos? Usually stock platforms even give hints on what kind of photos and motives are requested. What is your suggestion on that? Markus

It would be nice that when we share our portfolios to a Facebook page that it actually showed an image instead of a blank grey box! It just looks very poor
  5. Hello All, I am new here. I have passed QC in Alamy and now I have around 42 images on sale with good or optimized discoverability. Can anyone look at my portfolio and provide me advice on how to improve? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks In Advance, Prashanv
  6. Hello, I have been a member of Alamy for a long time, but I had not yet participated in the forum, I am a great fan of mountain photography, in particular of the Dolomites, living nearby! When I can I travel in Alps. In last two years I'veI reviewed and improved my portfolio images; for those who want to can see my gallery, and if you have tips, always welcome! Good photos! 😃 https://www.alamy.com/portfolio/650682.html
  7. Was wondering if anyone could possibly review my portfolio ? https://www.alamy.com/portfolio/bridgetcatterall I joined Alamy in 2016, but have only really been submitting frequently this year. I cover 'live News' when able, mostly in London as strangely its more difficult to find out what's going on locally. However there are so many excellent London photographers, I don't really expect sales unless they sell as stock later (I have had a few sales this way). My local newspapers do not employ photographers, (having made their last remaining tog redundant this year) and ask the public to send in photos for publication, so I can't see any way way they would pay for images ! But I am trying to build up a stock portfolio - sadly no gorgeous and bouncing children to photograph, but nonetheless I am looking to find subjects and topics of interest to document. I enjoy doing this primarily, but would also like to boost sales Thanks to anyone kind enough to take a look ! Bridget
  8. For weeks and weeks i can't seem to update the header image in my portfolio. It takes forever to load and nothing happen at all. How do i go about it?
  9. Morning. I'm Nora Mazzini, from Argentina. I've been at Alamy for a short time and my portfolio is small. But I think it's a good time to ask for a general review, so I don't keep uploading photos in the wrong direction. In fact, I haven't made a single sale in Alamy and I have made a sale in other image banks. Thank you in advance for your help! https://www.alamy.com/portfolio/noramazzini
  10. If you review and comment on my portfolio, I will be grateful. https://www.alamy.com/search/imageresults.aspx?pseudoid={706601A1-732D-4627-B4D6-26E09C02A386}&name=David+Talukdar&st=11&mode=0&comp=1

  12. I have tried repeatedly tried to set up a banner image for the new Alamy Portfolio page. After selecting the image from those available, all I get is 3 oscillating squares but no image. Is this a known problem?
  13. Can anyone suggest a way of cataloguing uploaded pics on Alamy. Is there any way of bringing photos of the same type or on the same topic i.e. travel, food, transport etc, together on the system. If there is an easy or obvious answer that i should be aware of and am not i apologise in advance.
  14. Hey guys! I'm pretty new to this, and have had a few sales in the last year. But I'm looking to majorly improve what I have up and boost my sales as much as possible. Is a lack of sales just a bulk problem? (which I'm working on, I only have around 250 photos at the moment) - or is it more to do with how I'm tagging and captioning images? If anyone could take a look I'd be really grateful! 15. Hello, I know that the number of images I have set up is still very small. Nevertheless, I wonder why I generate so few (currently only 1) sales at Alamy. The number of zooms (so far 4) is also low. If the experienced foographers could take a critical look at the pictures and tell me their constructive criticism, I would be happy. Thank you in advance.
  16. Dear Members, I am Fahd from Abu Dhabi, I am only expat not an Arab... I have seen lot of seniors critiquing new members (requested critique) on their portfolios and guide them accordingly. I am wondering if someone might critique mine and say some harsh words to direct me. I know it is too early to ask for critique as I only have couple of hundred pics and same number if views with only 3 zooms so far and no sale... By the way I just joined a month ago
  17. 18. Hi forum - looking for some advice improving image sales on Alamy. It's not something I've kept up with but wanting to get back into and hoping to make a few more sales. My portfolio last Summer was mostly events I attended with an interest in photojournalism, although now I'd prefer to look into architecture and conceptual stuff. Does anyone have advice on getting started, and where to improve on my current portfolio? 2 sales so far but my CTR is a little low for my liking. Thanks!
  19. I have been trying to decide whether to use the Adobe Portfolio that comes with the Photography subscription. I know it never hurts to have your images out there on as many platforms as possible, but wonder if it is worth the time an effort. I have a website at the moment (I use Piwigo) but am always considering upgrading to something like Zenfolio, etc. Anyone using the Adobe Portfolio, and if so, what do you think of it? Jill
  20. Looking at LR catalog, i noticed a backlog of about 200,000 pics since 2004 , a quarter suitable for Alamy. My workflow is to select a small portion of each folder and upload to Alamy. The idea behind that is to diversify uploading...as soon as i uploaded enough different subjects i come back to previously managed folders and find new files to upload. Making this process, my priority are those files i consider belonging to topics more sellable. How do you guys proceed? Did you end processing your backlog and upload newer shots or you have my same "issue" with many files?
  21. Hello everyone. I'm new at Alamy. Could you take look at my portfolio and give some valuable critics. Thank you. http://www.alamy.com/search/imageresults.aspx?&xstx=0&userid={CA48BF86-825B-409E-8E90-AE3D82059810}&name=Halit+Ölmez&st=12
  22. Hi I'm new to Alamy and haven't made any sales yet, I've only recently started uploading. I believe I understand what I would need to do to increase my chances of getting sales through here, but I wonder if you guys could have a look at my current portfolio to see if I'm going in the right direction in terms of tagging, captioning, etc? So far the part I struggle with the most when uploading is choosing the relevant categories, as they're very limited in numbers. Any thoughts? Thanks
  23. Hey everyone! I've been with Alamy for almost two months and have learnt a fair bit so far. Would like your feedback on my images so far and room for improvement. Cheers Hai
  24. Greetings all, Today my first set of photos has passed QC. I am getting used to working with the image manager and it all makes sense, slowly. However, I do have 3 questions (for now): 1) How can I view my my own portfolio on Alamy? 2) Although in the 'Image manager' it says that I have 3 images on sale, when I view my profile here on the forum, it says '0'. 3) Because I wanted to see how my images look if a potetial buyer is viewing it, I tried to search by contributor but apparently I don't exist (yet?). Is there a delay before ones' images are listed? Any pointers would be most helpful. Thank you, POTR
