  1. I restarted photography as a very old hobby of mine, entered the digital age and joined Alamy two years back. By now my portfolio on Alamy is around 400+ pics so still a long way to go. Last year I got one sale and in 2013 I had an increase in turnover by 200%, 2 sales. Obviously there is no market for my submitted pictures. Would much appreciate it to receive any advice how to get on track. I'm living in Belgium and full time employed.in IT so my shooting is mainly during weekends and holidays. Still 10 years to go before retirement so al the time to learn and getting better in this. Di
  2. I don't think the reporting of sales in Alamy Measures is working at all. I think the function has been on/off - and now off. (The old forum had information about this). Use "Sales information" instead. Many of my sales have not been zoomed. Perhaps they have been searched and enlarged by mouse hovering - but I also have a number of distributor sales - which may not count in the viewed images.
  3. Thank you Niels. I can see it now. I'm puzzled that only one of my sales over the years shows on the list though. Can this mean that all the others were somehow found and purchased without using the search function?

Easy to find the search terms for zoomed ones: Alamy Measures -> Your images -> click on the pseudonym of the zoom in the list to the left -> click on "Your Zooms" on the black top line -> find the search term in the list to the left You should to be able to click on "Your sales" in Alamy Measures and do the same - but you cannot unfortunately, it doesn't work.
  5. Thanks James for taking the time to answer my question about US business. If I heard it right, US contributes 60% total revenue. That is pretty amazing in short period of time. Maybe it's just me, but I feel US sales are generally higher priced, more prompt in payment. No chicken sh!t $7 newspaper scheme. It's the land of law afterall. . Keep them coming!
  6. I too was disapointed that there is no prospect of video submissions being opened up. I also think that there is probably a critical mass required in terms of the library size which will make buyers realise that Alamy is serious about video and worth visiting to see what is available. That critical mass is probably a library numbered in millions rather than a couple of hundred thousand, so success in video sales seems to me unlikely to happen here unless a significant change takes place in Alamy's approach.   9. from jan 1 to now i have had 6 sales and 0 zooms in fact my ctr is 0 - yes 0.00 that cant bode well for me i guess but hopefully the sales keep coming
  10. I don't have enough sales and zooms to be statistically relevant, but for the sake of completeness, most of my sales (about one image per month for the last 3 years) have nerver been zoomed !

  12. Don't do much number crunching due to lack of analytical understanding of the variables created by Alamy. Have currently noticed that many searches produce no zooms at all - but this is obviously in the phrases that produce views for me and my keywording is pretty tight. For what it is worth from January 1st I've had 137 sales from 366 zooms the previous six months produced 32 more sales from 10 more zooms. But as others say many zooms produce no sales and many sales result from no zooms - so I think I'll go and have a cup of tea.....

  14. The mystery of unzoomed sales turns up regularly in this forum, but it's not all that difficult to explain. Alamy tracks the views and zooms of only a subset of visitors to the site, presumably those who have demonstrated they're serious customers by actually licensing some images, so a sale may result from a customer who does not (yet) belong to this group. What's more, not all zooms, even by those in the elite subset, register as zooms: Someone in the old forum was able to establish that if a customer clicks on the "more" button to view more of your photos, subsequent zooms do not register (
  15. Personally, I've never found that zoom and CTR stats correlate very well with actual sales. However, my sales to zooms ratio for 2013 is not nearly as good as it was for the first six months of 2012.
  16. Have to agree that given the fact that non-zoomed images often sell and zoomed ones regularly don't, trying to work out the significance of zooms is a mysterious dark art which isn't going to solve itself anytime soon.
  17. That used to be my situation, Alex. In the past year I've been getting more zooms and they relate more to my sales. It is a puzzlement.

I do not put a lot of importance on zooms as over the last year or so I have had quite a few zooms where mine was the only zoom for the given subject, yet no sales arose Also have had numerous zooms from the actual image ID code and still no sales Then you get a sale from nowhere for an image that has never been zoomed, ever!!   21. None of my zooms have been translated into sales and none of my sales have been zoomed.
  22. Yes, that's an interesting point. Only 30 percent of my sales this year have associated zooms. The other 70 percent have not registered a zoomed view. Even worse, none of the zooms I can look up in the stats have been bought so far... But, I didn't have too much sales yet either...
