  1. I check my sales and zooms by going into - Your iImages and then drilling down to the actual image sold/zoomed which I then annotate. When I close that annotated image the screen now jumps to another Alamy open tab rather than the thumbnail of that image. For the last ten years my system has reverted back to the thumbnail. Anyone else having this problem when they have more than one tab open?
  2. $75 sale dropped in this afternoon to tick the sales counter from 999 to 1000. 6 years on Alamy - first submission passed QC on 13 January 2014, first sale on 27 June 2014 - so I'm pleased with the progress. Flowers appear to sell. I must photograph a few more. šŸ˜€
  3. Just a quick poll, since going exclusive my zooms and sales seem to have come to a standstill just wondered if this is being seen generally, can anyone out there report good sales or at least normal since going exclusive. Conversely if you opted for 40% have your sales increased.
  4. Why is it that most times that I get a 'big' sale it's via a distributor? Always a downer when you see a 'big' sale and then see in the sales report it's a distributor sale with big minuses as commisions. Most of my Alamy direct sales are for smaller amounts. šŸ˜• . Any ideas why this is? John
  5. I'm wondering what is happening with the "productivity" of my portfolio, and I'd like to know if any of you is experiencing a similar sudden drop of sales. Here are my numbers for the last two years: 2017: 41 sales for $1527 2018: 57 sales for $2003 Everything was going well in 2019: I had 31 sales for $1615 at the end of August . My last sale appeared in my account on August 23. Since then I had zero sale, and my CTR has been continually decreasing since May. It usually was around 60 and it is now hovering between 35 and 40. I kept uploading images regularly until the
  6. Hi I was pretty much dormant here on Alamy since 2007, with 75 images and 2 sales. End of 2017 I decided to try again, with a target plan for 2018 being 1000 images and one sale. I managed to go above and beyond on both, and have now several sales. However, I still don't understand one thing. None of the zooms I had since the end of 2017 resulted in a sale, and equally none of the sales were shown as a zoom (I think both these statements mean the same J ). Can anyone explain this to me? Thank you Pawel
  7. ...but sadly, only 1 from my portfolio. My CTR has been reasonable the last few months, but is in freefall this month (July), so when I noticed some nice person had 'zoomed' one of my images, I looked at my Pseudo info and saw that someone had searched for 'Russia historical portrait', and zoomed 3404 of the 4003 images they viewed. Occasionally, I have seen up to perhaps about 50 zooms for a single search phrase, but never anything remotely near the 3404 in this instance. Unless this was a bot stealing our images for display on some dodgy website (unlikely? given that
  8. hi guys...I know it takes time for zooms to convert to sales, but in your experience (I don't have my own data yet!) what have you seen as far as the ratio of zooms to sales? I have alot of zooms in the last few months and I am patiently (okay trying to be patient) waiting for some of them to turn into sales. Thanks for sharing. Mandy
  9. When I read threads about how few zooms turn into sales, Iā€™m confused. A big percent of my zooms turn into sales. Sometimes a certain month is less, but on the whole, zooms bode well for me. Of my last 12 sales, 10 were zoomed. Its harder to evaluate looking at the zooms showing on my page right now because many times the sales take awhile to show up. All I can do is look at my sales and notice the ones that were zoomed. For me, the statements I often read here about how few zooms translate into sales makes me scratch my head. Am I alone here? Betty
  10. Hi After a client had bought an image through Alamy, how soon will it appear in the contributors list of sales? Thanks if you know. Simon
  11. Is there any way that we (the photographers) can get any information on which company, organisation, newspaper, magazine, etc buys our images? It's easy enough to track some newspaper sales, but there are others that are not so easy, or near impossible to find, especially on the web. I currently use Copytrack, which does throw up some potential infringements, but not knowing who has bought an image at any given time, means that it is very difficult to tie usage to sales. Any ideas?
  12. Been patiently watching this site since joining last year. I got quite a few images past QC. But very limited zooms and sales. I certainly get more activity on other websites.......... Just lately i've having trouble getting past QC, I primary use an LX100.
  13. I am really posting this for the benefit of newbies or others with relatively few images on Alamy. I have only a relatively small number of Alamy images. Today it amused me the I have six zooms (which is as low as it has been for me for quite a while) and six sales in the last month; none of the zooms are the sales. Odd how things work sometimes. Perhaps some of this months zooms will be next months sales.
  14. Hi, new here. On my dashboard it shows sales to date as $42, but it says that the current cleared balance is $15. If I've made $42 why am I only cleared to get $15 of it? I see they won't pay until I've reached a balance of $50 which is fine, but I'm confused about the current cleared balance. What exactly does that mean? Thanks!
  15. Been looking through the forums, and it doesn't seem to be effecting anyone else, but heading into the last week of September, I may have my first month with no sales in over 2 years. The summer, as expected, has been a bit slow, but September is usually when things pick back up. Not really a question, just needed to vent a bit.
  16. Hi, i know I have had a portfolio review before but this is a different question. About 95% of my pictures are Live News and of those 90% are from Downing Street and Westminster. I have a reasonable level of news web sales (anything from 10 to 30) and monthly print sales. (Between 1 and 5) This give a reasonable income for the three to four days a week I put in. (I have childcare responsibilities) The Cabinet Minister/Prime Minister shots are best sellers. However, I am not getting the level of print sales of friends covering broadly the same subjects. I am aware that t
  17. I'm 90% sure that all my sales dashboard notifications from alamy show up around 8pm pacific time. Is that just a startling coincidence or does alamy only update the sale page once a day as opposed to other sites which update as they occur?
  18. I shoot in 3:2 aspect ratio for all of my images and if I crop it's also to 3:2 . Just wondering what other members do. 16:9 would work well for some shots but are they likely to be saleable?
  19. I've looked at the other topics discussing this issue, and none seemed to be exactly on point. I just got a bunch of photos passed of a tourist attraction here in the US. Not a vastly popular one, but in an area where surprisingly I've licensed a fair number on Alamy and some via my site on Photoshelter too - I think that these are two places where editors go for those hard to find images. I'm tempted to tick "exclusive to Alamy" because they are not the types of images I expect to sell often, hence I've uploaded them here, and I don't expect they'd be a big draw on either of the
  20. From your personal experience on Alamy can you say what is the relationship of sales to zooms. To date I have 1 sale but it was never zoomed and many zooms that never made a sale. What do zooms actually tell us. Thankx
  21. This is a little disturbing in my case ( I think). Prior to the big December shift (aka Alaxit) my ratio was c. 1-100 but now I'm seeing 1-250, i,e, CTR getting a battering (similar to the UK pound). It's wonderful to see ones images elevated, as has been my situation, but it's working against me. Or is it? How are you finding things post Alaxit?
  22. Since 1/7/2017 until now I have had 50 zooms and 20 sale but only one of my sales has originated (although I cannot be sure of this as it could be a coincidence) from a zoom. Does this mean that zooms are actually irrelevant? Does it also mean that Alamy is short changing us by including CTR as one of the criteria for ranking? Kevin
  23. Hi First post on here & I would be very grateful for any feedback you may have to offer. SALES DECLINE My sales up to the end of 2018 were increasing roughly in line with the number of photos online, achieving an average of just under a sale a week last year. However my sales for Jan-Mar 2019 have been almost nil and I am at a loss to explain this sudden drop. I would have expected them to remain constant even without the 1000+ images I have keyworded from late 2018 onwards. FYI I am still getting roughly the same zooms. Has anyone else experienced a drop in sales wit
  24. My zooms have been experiencing a rapid collapse since October for no clear reason. This morning they hit a multi year low of 28 for rolling month (yesterday 0 zooms from 568 views). 3 month numbers: October 2018: 97 November 2018: 53 December 2018: 31 This can't be down to just random chance. Is it just me or is everyone experiencing something similar? If you care to share what are you numbers?
