These aren’t strictly misspellings IMHO. They are variations. I wouldn’t put ‘desert’ for ‘dessert’ but I do include words that may or may not have spaces such as paddle boarding, kite surfing/boarding, coronavirus etc.  I also use Covid19 and Covid 19. I don’t bother with hyphens in my tags.

Ah, the culprit of my misfortune 😭😅😁

My sale history shows that this photo has been sold. If it is the buyer who has posted the picture on Wikipedia, will it then be a legal action? Here is a copy of the sale history for this picture:

However, why would a picture buyer trying to sell your image as a calendar post it up for free, full size at that, makes no sense at all.

  3. We are told not to use misspelt words in our keywording, captions. However, I was miffed to find a recent image search last month that appeared in the 'have you found' thread of 'Santa Paddleboarders' and none of mine were seen.

On further inspection it appears that the researcher had used the term 'Santa Paddle Boarders' which throws up 41 images (but none of mine)

This throws up the conversation of how many different variants of a word should be used :D

The question is the same for:

    Kitesurfer; kite-surfer; kite surfer

    Windsurfer; wind-surfer; wind surfer etc.

Although I think the dash isn't used in Alamy.

I have up to 134 different variants of 'Paddleboarders' if I include men, women, beach, lake, etc

Which brings me back to my point of being DISAPPOINTED that none of my Santa paddleboarder images got a look in 😘 (they will now)

Somebody has expressed confusion over my posts. Or maybe this somebody has expressed confusion over the situation, with which I agree.

    To clarify:

Three of my live news photos got published in The Sun on November 7.

    That's exciting.

They also got scraped by two other sites who will never pay.

I have not gotten paid by The Sun yet.

I am told to expect to get paid eventually, but not much.

    Not so exciting.

They should get reported at the end of this month, if they don't, you will have to self report 4 months after they first appeared, make sure you have screen shots if alamy request them. 'I am told to expect to get paid eventually, but not much' that will depend, prices go up and down every month with The Sun (I assume because of the amount of images purchased as a whole)

Here's a neat report that is not publicised on Alamy, but it creates a lovely spreadsheet which you can download as a .csv into Excel and play with tho your hearts content. Copy the string below, make sure you're logged in to your dashboard, open a new window, paste the strin into the URL/Search bar of the new window, change the dates as necessary and hit enter. Works a treat. I've yet yo investigate whether there are other options for the parameters.

    Output header:

    Page 1 of 3 < Previous | Next >

    Date Image ID   Total ($)
Cleared of invoice Paid Alamy Contributor Pseudonym License type Sale Deduction Due
    7/12/2014 23/10/2014 02/2016 E61FT2 Early Blackberries attract Native British Butterflies-3 Russell RM 23.75 -11.87 11.88

    Report string:

    //www.alamy.com/alamycontributorreports/Reports.aspx?Rep=2&sdate=01-Jan-2000&edate=22-Oct-2020&r2checked=False&drpval=2000&netType=2

I set up a tab like this every month as a shortcut, this is for the month of December https://www.alamy.com/alamycontributorreports/Reports.aspx?Rep=2&sdate=01-Dec-2020&edate=31-Dec-2020&r2checked=True&drpval=1&netType=2

Thanks to your suggestion Paul, I've started using Copytrack to locate my news images. I've hovered over the 'claim' button many a time attracted by the quoted potential fees, but managed to control the urge knowing that Alamy might actually report the sale at some time in the future.

I have a couple of claims in the 'processing' stage (€540) plus two others.

Don't bother with one man band websites without contact info, they won't bother with them.
