  2. I really like this thought Bill and it is encouraging in this time where many of us are in the same places over and over, trying to think of new ways of capturing familiar scenes. I like the examples you give too. In the examples of trees I like the way you have conveyed the emotion you felt at the time through post processing. I remember reading an article once by someone who does composites saying that post processing and creating composites allows her to recreate not just what she saw but what she felt at the time. Several years ago I went on a photographic trip with a professio

  5. Thanks Carol 🙂 You have just given me an excuse I can use buy chocolates 😂
  6. Hi Mark, Just to reiterate Paulette's advice above, it does seem that you may not be deselecting an image after adding a caption and tags. For example, Blue Heron in Pond, Cocoa Beach, FL - Image ID: 2E529T9 This image has tags that are not related to it and are clearly meant for other images you have uploaded of different subjects in different locations. It seems you may have done something to correct the duplication of captions, but not so with the tags. So when you go to add information to an image, make sure only that one image is selected in
  7. This doesn't really fit as it is not something I made at home during lockdown. It was actually a delightful surprise at a cafe I went to a few days ago when it was still possible to do so as we went into lockdown a couple of days later (Sunday evening). I just thought it was a fun and creative way to serve coffee and a cute monkey:

  9. This is a great image Thiago. I love the mix of colours and lights. Hope your sales take off as well!
  10. Dear Edo, so sorry to hear of the loss of your sister. I hope you can be comforted by good memories and the times you shared with her since childhood.

  12. No I don't. I will add it in. You have just taught me a new usage for this word that I just looked up: ORNITHOLOGY "a bright patch of plumage on the wings of certain birds, especially a strip of metallic sheen on the secondary flight feathers of many ducks" The duck in question is called a Pacific Black Duck, the most common one you see here in much of Australia. I now know their shiny, colourful side feathers have a name. Thank you! 😀
  13. I've just had 3 sales come in for this image at once, same presentation or newsletter use for the same low $$. I'm assuming the buyer is the same but has three separate usages for the same picture, or at least hoping that is the case and all three sales stick. They are RM so it could be three different but related usages. Happy for the sales anyway.
  14. Yes, I'll let you know how I go. Attempting my first stitched panorama is something I'm keen to try.
  15. Thanks for letting us know Harry. I was too slow off the mark when they had the previous special. I'm still on a budget and still have a subscription phobia, so I think I will be giving it a go.

  17. My funny thing today was probably a combination of both funny 'ha ha' and funny 'odd'. I read in the news about a duck who loves to surf. He basically body surfs catching waves while his owners are out surfing with their boards. Apparently when they put on sunscreen he gets super excited and runs around in circles because he knows it means they will be going to the beach for a surf. It is funny given that he can fly if he wants to but he prefers to catch waves. It's also funny given all the things humans do (including surfing) to get a feeling somewhat like flying. There is a video of the duck
  18. Wow, thanks Gen! I wasn't expecting so much detail, but thanks for going to that effort! That's very helpful. Lots of nature-based stuff in there which is what I like to photograph. It may be worth me giving distribution a go. I've wondered about whether buyers, if they really want a particular subject, will find it on Alamy anyway and thus the commission would not be split three ways. But I guess the whole point of distribution is that Alamy have feelers out into markets where there are buyers who may not otherwise access certain subjects via Alamy, and as several have said, any s
  19. Thanks Gen! Only go to as much trouble as you want and if it's interesting to find out. Happy travels wherever you are right now. I was really impressed by your long exposure image of the power plant at Biloela. I then realised I watched a program on Biloela not that long ago on the ABC show Back Roads. I don't know if you ever watch that but they go to various lesser known Australian towns and get to know the people and place (something you would be doing on a regular basis!). It can be seen on ABC iView, but I'm guessing you may know about it already.
  20. Hi Gen, I'm wondering how you go with Australian images and distribution sales, or at least how those images went before you opted out of PU and the distro sales dried up? My images are mostly from Western Australia, a tiny amount from Tasmania and South Australia, several from Bhutan and 4 bird images from NZ. Basically I have imagined distro sales of Australian images would largely be to overseas countries interested in travel/tourism, which is obviously an area with not much happening for the foreseeable future, but I could be wrong in thinking that this is what distro sales are

  22. I have several abstract backgrounds of things like light patterns on water, tree bark textures etc. None have licensed on Alamy (though have only been here since September 2019). Previously I was with a microstock agency and I had a number of sales of those kinds of images there. So I think it is definitely more likely to sell on microstock. I did sell one image on Alamy of lichen on tree bark, probably because someone was specifically looking for lichen, but no sales of just tree bark patterns on their own. In general it seems Alamy buyers are looking for a specific thing rather than an abstr

  25. I recently uploaded a photo of my Mum's 1972 Olympus Trip. I agree, they are pretty. I'm tempted to put some film in it and take it for a spin one day. The fact its light meter and exposure system are solar-powered adds to its charm. I also have two camera's of my Dad's from the 1950s in their original leather cases - an Agfa Ambi Silette and a Braun Nurnberg Gloria. I don't think I could part with these. He used the Agfa well into the 1980s until it started to fail.
