  1. Lots of great entries, lots of irony and sarcasm. You folks won't make my final choices easy. Good problem to have. 😆
  2. Hi Sally, Your gallery is amazing, wonderful bird, wildlife and flower photos, among others. All have great exposure and colors. How is your success so far? Any sales? Regards
  3. Wow awesome! Can you share the link of the image you sold, out of curiousity?
  4. Agree with Betty! CrowningHen, I am in a similar boat as you in terms of number of images on here and time on Alamy (for me since Apr 2019). I've made one sale of a photo of kids' bare and muddy feet T97HXT . I don't have much new to add than what has already been mentioned before me. Perhaps broadening the subject matter, and that's something I am working on as well. I need to maybe increase my upload rate and frequency, as my portfolio is growing very slowly. Good luck! We will journey together.
  5. Ironic and sad the enormous difference in social/economic state that exists throughout.
  6. Hello and happy new year, everyone! For this month's challenge, submit up to 3 images on the topic of IRONY. It could be any sort of scenario - a sign saying one thing while the scene around it contradicts it, an unusual animal gathering, an unlikely street protest or happening, etc. Use your imagination. It can be an abstract concept too. I find this a bit ironic... Assignment closes at the end of the last day of the month. I will try to post the poll for voting within the first couple of days of February. Have fun with this, or not (wink)!
  7. I really don't know where to look. Help. Where is the list of covered topics?
  8. If I pick a word/theme, can someone else setup and lead the challenge? I don't think I'd be good for this. As you see, I am not a daily forum visitor, don't have the time to stay on top of it.
  9. Thank you! I really had no idea I was nominated for the final voting.
  10. Woohoo! I had no idea. Don't know how these really work, haha. What do you mean by January challenge is in my hands now?
  11. I am very grateful, thank you! My boys are my blessing.
  12. Hey! Thank you for the award! I really just noticed. I did not get the notification earlier. I am very honored. I wish the photo would result in some sales though. =P
  13. I am stuck on 3 stars from early last year, and it doesn't seem that my clean slate since then has made any difference. Like others point out, perhaps they evaluate accounts early on and then maybe never after that. Shrug
  14. Haha, I was gonna write that! Yea, I've shot rain and hail from inside my car... works better than any weather proof clothing! 😃
  15. I do not own this camera, but I have heard similar positive opinions about it.
  16. People complaining when some didn't have a single sale in December. Just be grateful for all other good things in life. Cheers.
  17. Thanks Emu. I definitely should put more pictures up. But from what I see of people sharing about their sales, you are right that editorial in UK sells well. Not sure how it does in US.
  18. Chuck, Thanks for your input. I think you are right. And it bothers me in general when people post 5 or more variations of the same subject, and the variations are often very minimal. In some cases even close to 10 similar images. People are not aware of the market flooding it creates and the amount of server space and energy required for all that. No wonder stock sites take a huge cut. No one seems to think about these downsides to having huge portfolios. But what do I know, I am not a big seller apparently. I do try to post something of reasonable quality, but I am by no means professional in any sense when it comes to photography. Regards Alex
  19. Hi Jacquelin, I am slower than you with not even 250 images in a longer time frame. I have a single sale of $5. So you are saying nothing yet at +500 images. Not so surprising I guess here. I am (or perhaps I was) hoping that I could get 1 or 2 monthly sales of say $$, but that's not the case obviously. I know on other sites, ss, there have been about a dozen downloads for just over 60 images, but most are quarter of a dollar, and so I have not even reached $10 in total. I do not have the time and patience to upload tens of images a week and keyword/caption them all for that little return. At least on here at Alamy, they QC you first, and you don't have to waste time keywording and captioning beforehand if the image is rejected anyway. But I've found QC easier here than on others, ss.
  20. You can just use the catalog, and create different catalogs for different subjects/purposes. Sessions is a bit quicker but I find it messy with creating extra folders. I have Capture One for Sony and the cost is reasonable for me.
