  1. thanks, yeah France was another difficult one, but since i was on a pilgrimage, Stock wasn't really my focus. as for Montreal, i've had no problem with taking pictures, it was more the stock photo part with recognizability that i find more problematic (and the -25 C of last couple of days, why did i think a december visit was a good idea)
  2. Nothing with non relevant, this is about Relevant results, properly coded, and Keyworded not being found. Alamy creates these mirror sites, where we are not able to actually provide proper information, and with clear indications to NOT add words in other languages (other than Latin names)
  3. how much do you worry taking picture for editorial stock where people are identifiable, though not the subject, in environment where the laws are strongly against the photographers. I'm currently in Quebec visiting family where jurisprudence is that picture of people is invasion of privacy, and this is probably the first time i'm in such environment since focusing on taking pictures . Whereas i didn't even think twice about an image like this in the UK, do you worry elsewhere?
  4. a few images on a CultureTrip feature "Things To Do in London for Christmas" (found mine on a reverse search) looking forward to the low $. https://theculturetrip.com/europe/united-kingdom/england/london/articles/7-things-to-do-in-london-for-christmas/ Goddard New Era 2A9A402 Carnaby Street Christmas Lights 2019 Pictures Colour Library BXTG10 London, Cologne Christmas Market On South Bank, And London Eye (Cropped) jf pelletier 2A8YA5P Carnaby street, Project zero lights JOHN BRACEGIRDLE ED59Y8 LONDON FORTNUM AND MASON THE CENTRAL STAIRCAS
  5. generally for an image to be marked "On Sale" in your image manager, you need. Approved through QC A descriptive caption At least 5 Keywords it might take some time after to be in the database, up to 24 hours usually.
  6. continued.... (why do i do this to myself) Way of St. James returns 26,000+ entries on .fr Chemin de Compostelle returns about 15,000 (possibly images that also referred to Santiago de Compostela) however Chemin Compostelle only returns about 1000 images, and all related to compost (which is actually composte in French, nothing to do with Compostelle)
  7. i just did a test on translation on French access to Alamy, and not sure if there is insight somewhere on how to make things better for international customers... I had An image of St Paul church on the Ill river in Strasbourg (using info exactly as per Wikipedia english, as a foreigner this would be my main source) I was concerned about the river name "ill" interestingly enough in the title it is properly translated (ie its name), but in KW it is "translated" to "Sick" in French. However it does seem to still get found in searches even if not i
  8. so had my weekly QC queue yesterday. seems to be the strategy for regular uploading so far as a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  9. increase does not equal enhance. what do you mean no penalty, now YOU get a hit for someone looking for a " man lawyer politician" i get a hit for " woman standing on street" which no one would be looking for a marginal 5th ranked political candidate in a minor european country. There is nothing guessing about my KW. This is hours of analysing search results, AoA and optimization of impact. As for the city, it is included in the description. but you are free to handle your portfolio which you are hiding the way you want
  10. i wonder if that was a question of timing, as i am seeing many hits for Rijeka (next year's ECC) in last month or so....
  11. first sale this month. had been zoomed last month RF editorial $$ Usage: Single company - multiple use editorial only from a quick train stop over on the Joburg-Cape town ride.
  12. the Volcano is actually far off the coast. most news image of the action were from flights and boats. the rest on mainland of memorials, grieving and Jacinda would have been pretty safe.
  13. He was heading to Wellington, far from where the Volcano is located
  14. many images don't have 40-50 viable likely search words, so trying to get to that number the additional KW increases the chance of a irrelevant hits, so more views with no zoom. Here is an example. The lady is a candidate for the upcoming Croatian Presidential elections I have about 20 KW that might be reasonable for someone looking for this subject. To get to High discoverability I would need to add things in background like the tram. But no one who uses "Tram" in KW is good to zoom this image.
  15. Great post Betty, and pretty much what i was thinking when i was looking at Peter's portfolio. one caveat on the "picture of people without release " : Please check the local regulations.
  16. not sure i agree. For example, word searches seem to have great logic based on what is provided by contributor: Description>Super Tag> KW, that's much more advanced, and allows you the contributor to promote your best work. Images that have sold before, so likely more appealing, rank higher. So not random. i'm curious which site you feel have better logic?
  17. i just did Scotch, people age=[10-11 years].... you can guess the results
  18. ok, some tests. it's from drop down. it's and OR but no idea where it catches the info. it must make assumption (if you have certain KW) .
  19. if the search request specified it, it would have [RM] or [RF] (probably 3-5% of my hits have the specification)
  20. extremely hard to know, since if it excludes you, you will not see it in AoA. I cannot see any hit with a location in [ ] in my results. this however brings another finding. I have a search with [child] [teenager] in search. note, though the results were appropriate, I have no indication that my images included teenagers, In fact only word i have in there is "kids"....
  21. it will make a difference if it affects you appearing in searches. Looking through my last month of AoA, i have search that specify RF and some that specify RM.
  22. Tests so far, While you have a submission in QC, new submissions also go to "QC- holding pattern", once you get to All clear, straight through until your number comes up again for random QC
