  1. This was part of an article in www.photographers-resource.co.uk The National Trust is an example of this, they have their own commercial picture library and try to maintain a monopoly of supply of images of their properties. There have been occasions where photographers have taken images and they have been published and the National Trust has then sent them a bill for 50% of what they assume they received for the images, equivalent of their share had they sold one of the images on their library, taken by you, had you submitted it and had it accepted to be included. Many photographers will just pay this, but my understanding is that if you do not they will not test it by taking it to court as they are not convinced they would win. A lot would depend on if you were aware of restrictions and how you were told, particularly as they generally encourage people to go and photograph the outside of their properties.
  2. Bit of a clichรฉ image but I like horses

  7. No problem Ed Always willing to help if I can. Like you I have been all over the world and found that may be the best places to visit are not the best places to live. I hope you like Ireland, its a bit quirky sometimes but a great place to live, your stock shooting may have a more rural lean towards it. Andy
  8. Its all free advice Edo. ๐Ÿ˜Š Actualy I just like to know about stuff if its an entitlement does no harm to look into it. Plus my partner is born Irish and used to work for the Irish civil service before moving to UK. We looked into everything before moving back to Ireland to retire.
  9. Ed You could end up paying a lot less than 700 Euro a month here if you get on the HAP scheme. All landlords have to allow a tenant to be in it. Basically you get together with your local HAP officer and agree your weekly income (You have to provide proof bank statements etc. The you then get an agreed amount you can afford for rent, lets say 400 Euro month. The landlord is paid the 700 Euro every month by the HAP scheme, you pay the HAP scheme 400. The landlord has no idea what rent you are paying to the HAP scheme he just gets his 700 from them. Hope that all makes sense. Andy
  10. I would have thought taking images of any embassy from a public road would not be an issue. There security might not like it but tough, if they step outside the embassy gates they are on British Sovereign soil. The worse they can do is call the local police who will probhably tell them the same or send round a local policeman to ask what your doing, but he or she won't move you on either.
  11. No worries Ed One of the bits of paper you will need and cannot apply until your in country is PPS card and PPS number. That card and number will be asked for when ever you are interacting with any state agency. Its a bit of a bind of form filling etc but essential for you.
  12. Ed most matters are dealt with by the county major town or city, but if you go on the HSE web site to get an initial contact number for information. They will be very helpfull and steer you in the right direction as to who you need to talk to and relevant form filling. hse.ie. If you have worked in Ireland before you will already have a PPS number, plus the department of employment and social protection will need to be contacted. But start of with that initial phone call. Cheers Andy
  13. The income requirements are pretty good to qualify under 70 income less than 184 Euro a week or over 70 500 Euro a week gross . Look at the HAP scheme for rental assistance, its very generous also.
  14. On the plus side once your over 66 the bus service is free provided your pension is paid into here.๐Ÿ˜
  15. I was referring to County Galway as a whole, my error. The city does look to have good coverage. Same down here in West Cork, where I am is ok 7Km from Skibbereen but just a few Km further out its very patchy.
  16. I to would not change living in Ireland, friendly people if you make the effort but living in rural Ireland really demands a car and another thing you might need to look into Ed is the Broadband coverage. I just looked at Galway and large parts of it still do not have coverage and not expected to within a year, that's the same for most of rural Ireland. Just something to bear in mind. Cheers Andy. 19. You come across a wedding and ask the bride and groom if they would mind standing to one side so you can get a clear shot of the vintage car they are leaving in.
