  1. Ok sounds good, im based in Gordon but flexible for locations South or North. give me a call on 0418 11 8842
  2. Yes, quite understand but you or Regis do get in touch if you are down this way.
  3. Hi There, I have been thinking about suggesting this for some time but the California shoot has pushed me into action. Is anyone interested in joining in a photo walk or attending an event together to shoot it. My January is booked out but there is always something on in Sydney, markets, locations, events etc. Meeting up with a fellow Alamite would be great so let me know if you are keen. Stephen
  4. One possible option is to use non specific phrases in the key words like Homelessness. I would however steer clear of drunkenness.
  5. Im wondering if we can get some feedback from Alamy on this question. My output JPG's generally run between 8 and 15mb in size and if i could limit the bigger files and improve sharpness at the same time then it would definitely speed things up for me.
  6. I think this part of the Alamy blog sums things up best: "If you have annotated the images per the above, customers are notified with the following; “If you want to use the image commercially, you might also need permission from the model, artist, owner, estate, trademark or brand”. This puts the onus on them to ensure that should they wish to use an image commercially, they will need to seek releases themselves." I find that my images with releases sell far better but sometimes its impossible to get one so shoot and load up and let Alamy Sales team do the rest
  7. Just want to add my vote of thanks from the Southern end of the world, definitely looking forward to these improvements. regards Stephen
  8. I think it depends on the image and the amount of time you are prepared to put in. For some of my images 50 is not enough, for others 16 is a stretch. As long as you are covering the "key words" in your description and wording area you will be fine.
  9. You also want to think about following Alamy on Twitter, they are repetitive but do post helpful hints and photo needs of clients. And finally when you post shots of flora try to also include the botanical name as lots of clients only search with these names and may not know the local name like Stripper Gum! Stephen Agree with all above, a property release on a hospital is almost impossible to get so just tick the no release box. The only time i have blurred number plates is if i think the image might be a little controversial for instance i recently shot some waste that had been dumped on the footpath in Chatswood (Sydney) and blurred the plates on cars in the background.

  11. Colin, agree totally with you, i use a D750 with a 70-200f4 and a 16-35f4. Both are beautiful lenses that cover almost all of my needs. I dream about a 300mm or a big zoom for bird photography but cant justify it yet.
  12. Just one sale of gross $75 so a quiet month but suddenly in August my views have exploded. Normally on any single day i will get one or two pages of views but today i have 16 pages! my graph has exploded and I'm a little suspicious that Alamy has just solved one of those little software glitches and found a bunch of views. Has anyone else experienced similar?
  13. Ok, I am a Finance Manager (Accountant) by day and an amateur by night and weekend. I get a miserable income from doing this but love it all the same. It continually forces me to lift my game and learn about photography which i have loved since i was 12 with my Dad's AGFA rangefinder and Sekonic light meter. This is a numbers game and i need to keep working on getting my numbers up. My most important discovery in recent times has been the fabulous font of advice and info that comes from these Forum discussions so thank you one and all.
  14. For some reason i cant add any images?
  15. Thanks folks, you have confirmed my thoughts. Appreciate the help.
  16. Hi gentle folk I want to load these two images but am worried they will be rejected for "movement" in the image. They were shot at 1/50th and 1/40th of a second and were opportunistic shots late in the afternoon. Im keen for some feedback from your experienced eye's https://www.flickr.com/gp/131759323@N02/6B76m8
  17. Forster NSW, Australia, early morning Elephant Head, near Scotts Head in NSW, Australia
  18. I always add a location in tags as well as on the Google map. In recent times i have taken to using the "search and drop pin" method as some of my locations have been very small, take Way Way, NSW, Australia for instance. not a lot of people there. I understand that this map is not searchable but i cant see that i would take much for Alamy to switch this option on for buyers.
  19. Yes, i can just see the caption now " A colourful (colorful) zucchini (courgette) and its associate, a well known aubergine (eggplant) were found floating in Sydney harbour (harbor) today. A spokesperson (representative) (spin doctor) for the fruit and vegetable industry declined to comment"
  20. Thanks Paulette, thought this was the case but it was worth checking
