  1. There’s a “date taken” field which gets populated from metadata. That’s searchable so buyers have got control over the age of images they see.
  2. I read that the ski jumps are covered with solar panels. It’s right by MI6 so I imagined the ramps are for launching spies 😆.
  3. Interesting. Anyone know Alamy’s position on this? Correct grammar and spelling only or should we tag anticipating common errors like this? What about US versions of English words eg colour/color?
  4. Victorian red post box in Little Kineton, Warks UK
  5. Hi I’ve read an article by an Alamy contributor who includes in tagging words such as “copy space left”, “copy space top”, “DPS” (double page spread). The idea is that makes it easier for picture editors to find what they need. This is the first I’ve heard of this approach. I’m not sure I’d want to attempt it - how do I know how my picture will be used? I’m not a picture editor. I think i’ll just stick to tagging for the picture subject. What do you think?
  6. Just happened to me though may have been because I didnt recognise at least two pictures were “apartment buildings”. Tedious.
  7. Hi I’ve found some photos I took in London in 1988 (with my Olympus OM40 which was my first “proper” SLR camera ). Anyway, prints, obviously, and the city skyline is very different to how it looks now. There’s nothing notable between St Pauls and what used to be called the NatWest tower. It occurred to me I could photograph them and submit to Alamy as archive. Is that the kind of thing Alamy archive is for? Quality wouldn’t be great - the prints are a bit faded. Also I don’t know the exact date, only that it was 1988/89 because of the boyfriend who’s in some of them 😄.
  8. A few here today. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4913647/uk-weather-mild-before-arctic-weekend-snow/
  9. Same here, everything’s at zero. Bit of a shock - glad to see this thread and its not just me. Hope Alamy have a backup strategy.
  10. It’s the caption Alamy put up, I can’t change it otherwise I would have. Anyway, I’m taking RedSnapper’s advice and moving on. Thanks all for comments 😄.
  11. Hello Ian 😄. Love the Deben, have been at Martlesham Creek this afternoon. Never tire of the scenery.
  12. Yes I agree except you wouldn’t say “at Suffolk” you’d say “in Suffolk”.
  13. Hi I put two groups of photos up for live news yesterday carefully IPTC tagged with city (town), country etc. I did two groups because the location info and themes were different. Live news published them initually in the two groups then later merged them to one group. At the same time the tagging got altered so that the town names aren’t shown only the county. The single heading for the merged groups no longer makes sense because it says ‘xxx at Suffolk” rather than “xxx at Felixstowe, Suffolk”. Live news have emailed me in the past when I failed to include a town name, now they’ve removed the town name. Anyone understand what’s going on? Different Alamy people with different views about how live news photos should be presented?
  14. I’ve bought a camera body and a few lenses and filters from MPB recently and been very happy with the service including how they handled a return. The UK base is in Brighton so I’ll be going to see the shop next time I’m down there.
  15. Similiar - 4 shots of a seagull on a post but each framed differently - post on left right or centre of shot, gull looking in different directions. Failed for excessive similiars which didnt seem right. “Sticker” also said “noise” which I could maybe just about see. Interesting to see these other comments though. Someone new/over zealous in the QC team?
  16. Hi Mirco - how can I see if I’ve opted in to multiple agencies? Does that happen by default or do I need to do something to my account?
  17. I'm waiting for QC on images uploaded Saturday afternoon. They'd normally be through by now. I wondered if the team's just busy or short staffed.
  18. No they were all taken in a 2hr session and submitted within an hour or two of getting home,
  19. I had some news pics rejected last week because the captions needed work but the difference that time was I got an email explaining where I’d gone wrong. Those all passed QC the next day too. This time no email so I was left wondering. I’m new to this, I’ll learn. Thanks 😄
