  1. I'm using the Fuji X-T1 and have the Fuji 23mm 1.4 and Fuji 10-24 f4 zoom

Anyone using these lenses and the new Zeiss Touit lenses? Which do you like better and why? I almost prefer primes but the quality would have to be as good on the Zeiss as it is Fuji.

      Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 and    Zeiss Touit 32mm 1.8

From what I've read, the 12 Zeiss is good but a lot of people still prefer the 14mm for IQ. I sold a 12mm  Voigtlander in favour of the 14mm Fuji which is exceptional.

How do you find the quality of the 10-24 when compared to the 23mm? I was considering that zoom but it would have to be sharp from 12mm onwards to make it worth while.

I've had my X-T1 about 6 weeks, now.  It has been confusing for me, coming from Nikon.  But like anything else, the more you use it the more familiar you get with the functions.

I think I've finally found my groove with it, as far as shooting portraits and such.  I have yet to try tracking something moving.  I shot engagement pictures over the weekend and settled into a comfortable groove.  And best of all, I came away without my hand and wrist getting sore.  Better than that?  The pictures turned out great!

The dials on the top are wonderful. I never shot with the old film cameras, so I can't say the Fuji reminds me of those, but hey, I know I like those dials and buttons.

My main problem has been finding enough time to get familiar with it since I'm using the Nikon for my ongoing jewelry work. I've had mine longer than Linda and she has shot 3 X what I have.

One thing I do know.  I love the size, I think the lenses are sharp and stellar, and I think down the road Fuji will come out with improvements with the next camera down the line.  They have to, to keep the money flowing! :)

    My perfect Fuji?

Pretty much what I have but 20-24mp.

Buttons easier to find by feel and  easier to push.

    Better flash options

    Lens wants.

    90mm macro

the super zoom to ship NOW along with the just announced mid-range zoom.

You X-T1 users, add your wishes to mine.

Betty a great flash would be nice but I've been using the $80 Yongnuo 560 III at 1/4 for red carpet events and it recycles quicker that my $600 Canon 600RT flash that would stop after 12 shots from overheating. And that's not even a fast consecutive 12 shots. I usually carry 2 Yongnuo's with me because without flash at these events,it's not going to look good...too dark!

I'm with you there. Those 560iii are great flashes and well made. My only requirement would be for them to release that radio control that will allow you to set the power of those Yongnuo flashes from the radio transmitter on the camera.... that would be job done.

2nd all your wishes with the addition that the macro is 1:1.

I have the deeper eyecup on order, hopefully should be arriving soon and I have decided to go for the 18-135. Clifeton Cameras and going to do a trade in for me for the 18-55 which is marginally better than eBay (after you take into account costs from selling on eBay).

I think that lens will be a good addition for those times when I can't easily change from 18-55 to 55-200. Walking in the mountains, windy conditions, raining or subject about to change fast. I may even sell the 55-200 if this lens proves to be excellent IQ wise. The 120-400 would complete the long lens requirements.

    Improvements.

    1. Improve AF speed and tracking even more. It works well now but a continuos improvement / development is always desirable.

    2. 8000 shutter speed option. When using the 23 & 56mm lenses at 1.4 & 1.2, 4000 shutter speed is often not fast enough outdoors.

    3. Continue to improve noise performance and make sure the user has the ability to switch off all NR and sharpening in camera.

    4. Improved video controls and codecs.

    5. Change the way the Battery Grip hands over power from one battery to another. If you are using the Remote App on your phone, the camera closes it down when it swaps batteries.... a bit of a pain but not critical.

  4. Quote:  I also received that £250 discount voucher for the lens so If I sell the 18-55, which I only use when out walking, then I could save another £200. If it is as sharp as the 55-200, then that will end up going as well in preparation for the 120-400!  Unquote.

I like the 18-55 when walking about town etc and it is a good lens optically but think it is a bit short on length. (I was used to the Canon 24 - 105 for my walkabout lens when using Canon gear.) The 18 - 135 would be potentially better for me.

Duncan's idea sounds good to me, may take that on board. Here we go again, it seems like I'm back in the buying/selling market and just when I thought I had finished for a while.

    Allan

haha... I know the feeling. In essence, I could be replacing 2 lenses with one so that can't be bad! I was always set for the 120-400 and the 55-200 would be a large overlap. That said, I love the quality of the 55-200 so the 18-135 must match it. Mind, it is Fuji and I haven't really seen a duff lens from them.

When you think about it, two lenses to cover 18mm - 400mm (27-600mm FF equivalent) excellent for convenient shooting and for real fine detail/high quality, add a prime or two and you're sorted!

  5. Calumet (and probably others) in the UK are taking pre-orders for the Fuji XF18-135mm lens at £699. Hopefully with the £250 discount for X-T1 owners that will be £449.

Still not sure whether I will buy one with that slow 135mm f5.6 - my 55-200mm is faster (f4.8) at 200mm. I guess I have until end of August to decide if am going to get one with the discount. I guess I could buy, try and sell it if I am not convinced and will probably not lose money.

I was out yesterday walking/backing (camping on the summit of Blencathra) and I had the usual 14,23,56 primes in the bag for later and the 18-55 on camera with the 55-200 in the side pocket. Sods law always says I need the lens that is in the side pocket and not the one on the camera!!

Anyway, the 18-135 could potentially save a lot of mucking around swapping lenses. The new 5 stop IS could help with the difference in F/Stops provided you can work with the lower speeds.... i.e. don't need to stop action.

I also received that £250 discount voucher for the lens so If I sell the 18-55, which I only use when out walking, then I could save another £200. If it is as sharp as the 55-200, then that will end up going as well in preparation for the 120-400!

I am still confused about when Alamy updates the data in the dashboard. I had a sale posted in my summary of sales, early this morning, but it is not showing up in the dashboard data yet. And yes, I have refreshed the dashboard page several times. Just seems odd to me that they are not synced.

From what i can see sales still appear in net revenue first and are then updated into the dashboard the following day along with all the other stats.

    Regards

    Craig

Yep, I've found the same thing. Do they appear live in Net Revenue, i.e. can appear at various times of day as and when they go through?

  7. It looks as if I might have send out a real Mayday signal this month. Only one $34 sale so far in June. Hopefully things will improve during the next couple of weeks.

Early days yet.... however, an early Mayday might guarantee a response before the end of the month!

Can't complain here, 4 so far for decent money.... more would be nice though :-)

  8.

So tempting!  40mm  .085  is now available for the Fuji X mount

    Here are some samples!

I like the samples but that is a big old lens..... I've seen quite a few comments suggesting a 50mm f/1.2 plus speed booster will give similar results for less weight and money. It would convert to approx. 35mm f/0.8.

That said, it's nice to see these specialist lenses appearing, can only be a good thing!

Yes, it means other suppliers see the X series as having a future. Just need the likes of SIgma, Tamron, Tokina to put out full AF lenses and then we know it has arrived.

Very true. I would love to see a Sigma macro lens. I loved the 150mm f/2.8 I had for the Canon, terrific lens.

  10. And (4) back up again.

Like they say, if you haven't got your data in at least 2 places you haven't really got it.

Very true.... data protection needs to be tackled for different reasons.

    1. Drive failure = Raided NAS

    2. Device failure = 2nd Raided NAS (one backing up to the other at the end of each week. Gives time for errors to be spotted in 1st system that is used on a daily basis).

    3. Fire and Theft = backing up completed work on Blu-Ray / SSD and keeping 2 copies in two different locations. One at least in a firesafe safe.

When you make your living from something as delicate as data, you have to be very careful!

  11. Apart from the minor issues already reported, i.e.  Avg Alamy CTR probably meaning our average CTR and the issues of sales info differing etc, I think it's significant improvement. A few tweaks here and there should finish it off nicely.

Going forward, it would be great if they could add additional info around images viewed/zoomed etc so we can manage the less performing images into a different Pseudonym, or, if people wish, delete them. Personally I would just pop them into a new Pseud though.

As a dashboard (future development :-), it would also be really good if you could drag and drop the sections/stats you use most to the prominent area of the screen of your choice. For instance, if you could create a module for the Current month "Net Revenue - Date of Invoice" and "Your Images - Yesterdays stats". These modules could sit around the section "Additional Revenue Options" etc.

Effectively, each piece of information is contained within a named module and they can be moved freely around the screen, a bit like jigsaw pieces. The screen would be made up of blocks and you can size each module to any number of blocks, vertically or horizontally. You see this on a few websites as well as widgets on mobile phones.

Anyway.... keep up the good work!!

On the whole I Like it, however there does not seem to be a way of changing the measures dates.

Still working this one out as well.... haven't found a solution yet. I used this a lot to isolate the previous days activity, zooms and searches. Did they have a panel of Contributors that they spoke to to find out how it was used? I would have thought this would have been picked up. Of course, there could be some way of doing it, just not found it yet.

Click on the grey box (your images) at the bottom of Alamy measures and it takes you to the usual screen.

Cheers.... I think that maybe all the usual screens/stats ticked off now. Just got to remember them all!

  13. The Alamy average on the dashboard is the same as my own one i.e. it's either a glitch or worded badly. When you click through to the regular (old) page, it reads as 0.47 for last month.

Yes, I think you're right. A few teething problems.

Funny, as my CTR goes down it appears my $ / sales go up. My CTR was at it's highest in Nov 2013 and sales were on a steady decline right up until Feb 2014. My CTR started to decline from Nov 2013 but my Sales/$ have been increasing, especially after Feb this year?!!? Doesn't appear to make any sense

  14.

Top line of screen. Click "For Sellers" then click "Forum".

phew.... that' a quicker one! :D

Also, Noticed the average CTR for the whole of Alamy is way down compared to what it used to be, about .21 now. I recall it being aroun .44 - .5 not long ago, or am I imagining things?

So if this is correct, is CTR dead now that mouse over zoom and add to lightbox appear to be taking over? Where does that leave ranking now, or, has Alamy already made changes?!?

That's strange my "My Alamy" says the current average CTR for all of Alamy is 0.41. Where are you looking? I'm looking to the left of the graph in the Alamy measures section

I'm looking under Alamy Measures "Current Average Alamy CTR: 0.21"

This is under "Top performing pseudonym:"

I assumed the Average Alamy was exactly that, Alamy. Otherwise it would be worded "Average Pseudonym" CTR?!?

  15. On the whole I Like it, however there does not seem to be a way of changing the measures dates.

  17. But, I can't see the link to the Forum on the page?!?! I must be going blind, any pointers from anyone?

Looks good, apart from the confirmed collapse of CTR. Sales are coming in but CTR is on a continuos decline... is this the result of the larger mouse over zooms, who knows. If Alamy rank is heavily based on this I may as well pack up shop now and look for greener pastures!

Edit, only got here because of the "Back" key in Chrome.... still can't find the link!
