Pen, I had a quick look at the helmets, there's no spec for them, hard to tell what protection they would offer, wether they would protect you against a lobbed water bottle, rubble or a CRS baton. A while back I chose a Bern Watts helmet, the hard hat version. I gather these are used by skateboarders and by off road cyclists. It feels quite substantial, but I've never had anything smash into it to test it. Hope all goes well.

Thanks Steve, I have been looking at on line cycle shops. Just want something that can deflect, rather than take a full on blow from a batten. Those Bern Watts style look good for what I am looking for.

Also big thanks for the language tip.

  3. Resurrecting this topic, and taking it slightly off topic, but still relevant.  In the new year my intentions are to move out further from London and cover some events in Brussels and Paris. Of course it seems that there is an increased risk of personal injury here, so, what are the recommendations for a helmet? would a cycling helmet be fine, or something more specialized?

    These look reasonable ?

I used the search, and for what I entered and found it initially appears effective.

Searching for Photos (stock) I searched for my images shot last weekend, St Pauls Carnival.  All 48 showed up along with others from previous years. Appending the search with 2019 found this years carnival pictures.

By selecting search Live news, then Browse Live News Feed you can then browse all there.

I then searched Live News with 15th July 2019 entered, and what appeared to be the days uploads were found.

    Looks promising.

Not really thinking about stock images, when this makes sense, but for live news? Thanks for that, it helps. Long winded way to see what has been posted, unless you are looking for specific live news.  Must admit prefer the old lay out, but this is progress, right?

After some recent (and now sadly frequent) stabbings we've had dispersal orders in place around Southend's town centre. Whilst taking photographs to illustrate the story I was rough-handled by a typical Essex thug who thought I was taking shots of his 'bird' who apparently has plans to be a supermodel and I'd need to pay a large fee for the 'privilege'. Thankfully the police who were around to enforce the order came to my rescue and we agreed that it would be better for everyone if I walked away. There's a limit.

    Wow, glad you where ok
