  1. Lightrrom missing folders

Today, working on my website, noticed that several folders where missing in my Lightrrom library... the folders are still on my hard drives though (had a stressfull 15 minutes there...) Did I accidentaly deleted the folders from LR or is it a bug? Did it happen to anybody else? In my case it is about different folders by date (a folder per day) spanning several months? Win 10, latest version of LR Classic CC With so many recent updates of LR in the past months, I’m starting to wonder if my library wasn’t corrupted... as said might be my mistake...
  2. Lightrrom missing folders

Thx for your reply! Did exactly that, but the button show missing folders is greyed out...
  3. April up or down?

Down :-( 4 last months actually 50% less than average of 2017! Last 12 months around 30% less than past 12 months... ...
  4. $400k threshold...

  5. Which Shooting Format

If I should break down time working on pictures, removing spots is the most time consuming and captioning/keywording. I have just two presets for stock photos... and import with one of them and usually tweak exposure and crop/rotate if needed... So, in my case it would’t matter much, timewise... jpeg’s do have the advantage of taking less space on the HD... was in Paris a few weeks ago 1500 pictures x 20mb/file... independence day last week another 1500 shots!!! Was also thinking about switching to jpeg for at least more casual things in decent light...
  6. Infringments

Found the following infringmentS (with a big S!): http://comoserguapa.com/delicat-jardin-du-louvre-lens-modele/delicat-jardin-du-louvre-lens-concernant-louvre-lens-stock-photos-louvre-lens-stock-images-alamy-idees-images/ Plenty of Alamy images used here, including a few of mine... I already send a mail to contributors@alamy...
  7. Infringments

Yep, the mirroring is indeed to fool the search engines... Wanted to fill in the form, but because it is some kind of blog/personal page... Alamy will probably not do anything... really a shame as the whole site is one big infringment...
  8. Infringments

Thanks Wim, I'm aware. Was sharing this as others are also involved... Greetings, Michael
  9. Lightroom 7.3 new version (BIG, big changes!)

There was an interesting thread about keywording: https://discussion.alamy.com/topic/8477-keywording-in-lightroom-anyone-else-frustrated/ Besides keywording, I would also like to see some power functions in exif editing as well: appending to captions, titles... merging fields to create captions etc...
  10. Lightroom 7.3 new version (BIG, big changes!)

Very useful! Thanks Justin! Adobe has indeed been improving LR quit a bit the last few months! I hope they will also improve keywording, which is an essential part of developing photos for us...
  11. Last friday had do some shopping.... decided to bring my camera along.. Among the things I photographed is a beautiful building here in Tel Aviv, some kind of neo-colonial architecture... This week-end decided to process the photos and found some spots on the ground... they where 3 dollar bills...
  12. CTR & ZOOMS

I kept stats of my views and zooms for the past 2+ years and don’t see a link between sales and views/zooms... I do see a link between number of images available and sales though...
  13. Tate Modern Re-visited

It’s an extremly complicated subject and not being a lawyer... Precisely for the Tate I don’t know But from what I understand you have a few things to take into consideration: - the building was renovated/converted to a museum by Swiss architects Herzog & De Meuron - and they have intellectual rights on their design - artwork inside the building can also be intellectual property - the exhibition design can also... - even graphic design in and outside the museum is copyrighted... - photographing people can also be problematic At best imho you can sell the pictures as editorial? I got a mail a while from Alamy regarding photos I took from the grande arche de la defense in Paris. A company that owns the intellectual rights (the architect is deceased) asked to add to the caption the copyright of the architect. No problem with that, on the contrary! Since then I decided to add the designer/architect... where relevant.
  14. Do You Shoot Street Art and Murals?

Yes! Photographed in the past and some nice ones last friday! I have uploaded previous ones on Alamy and recently got a mail that Alamy will set as Editotorial. I’m ok with this. The artists that did this graffitis got an authorisation of the city and owners of the properties... They were made during events, in which artists where invited... here I can perfectly undertand the rights of the artists! For illegal graffitis - vandalisme - I don’t really understand how an individual can claim he has intellectual rights??? Obviously, it’s not always clear if it’s vandalisme or not... Anyway, if Alamy thinks its better to set them as editorial, no problem here!
  15. Post your positive results in 2018 here! :)

    - first sale on a week-end! + it’s a picture I shot recently, end of december - first book cover - credited but the sale didn’t appear yet on Alamy - not sure if it qualifies as positive result, but had a 100 CTR: 1 view/1 zoom ;-) - one sale, this month, that equals a typical month - even though it is through a distributor... crossing my fingers that I won’t get the typical refund thing... Gives a bit of hope after a lousy november and january!!!
  16. Have you found any Alamy images in March 2018?

http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20180312-antwerp-design-hub First image is mine Fifth image is by Mauritius images (thought at first is was also mine since I have a very similar image)
  17. Length of licence

Looking at licenses from my sales, I have the impression that Alamy licenses are mostly correct - difficult to check as I can’t find usage from all of them - but distributors very lose - both in time and usage?
  18. What do you do for storage?

My current plan is no good: - ligthroom catalogue + current projects on a 500gb SSD for speed - 3TB for archives - backup on HD’s at home for both drives My future plan: - lightroom catalogue + current projects on 2 SSD’s in RAID 1 - will lose some speed but if 1 drive fails I will still be able to continue working - 3TB for archives - maybe also doubled in RAID 1 - sync everything with Adobe cloud - with added value that I can edit my pictures on different computers... - add a 6-8 TB RAID 5 backup system at home, to have incremental backups I understand that good practice dictates having at least 2 backups on 2 different locations, preferably on 2 different mediums... But with over 3Gb’s of files it is a serious investement :-(
  19. The bigger the sensor the better IQ The lower ISO the better... the better camera the better quality/ISO The better the lens, the better IQ The higher image sensor, the higher controle over DOF... etc... and I hope that ultimatly the photographer makes the difference?
  20. What changed

I still don’t undestand the green/orange thing... in lightroom I fill the titles, caption and headline + location fields (usually automaticly since I use a GPS unit on my camera) + obviuously keywords. Mostly between 20 to 50... Regarding keywording I usually don’t need more then 20-30...
  21. Zooms?

I also had a nice share of zooms lately... sometimes of the same subject, sometimes single zooms of different subjects... I’m quitte happy since views and zooms have dropped last year compared to 2016, whereas I have added a lot of pictures in 2017... sales and income are in relationship with the number of images though... But now sales have been dissapointing for me the past months... surely hope the higher views/zooms will bring sales!?! I also don’t understand why I haven’t had any views (and sales) for some subjects that where very hot in the press the past months... for example I have sold dozens of US embassy pix and Israeli flags regarding president Trumps decission to move the US embassy - through another agency but no single view on Alamy? And this is only one example...
  22. ALAMY stats usage..How do you use them

I find the Alamy stats usefull, as you can see how many of your photos where in the search results... this gives an indication of how relevant photos where keyworded or not... and it also gives an indicication of how popular a photo is (on Alamy) - and this is a supposition as I don’t know how Alamy’s algorithm works in terms of results given... I suppose CTR, previous zooms, previous sales play a role here? What interests me more, as a photographer/contributor is how many times a photograph was seen - zoomed and utimatly sold! So I can concentrate on this type of images... and upload, keyword relevant images...
  23. SERIOUSLY???

Seriously? I have the same feeling and I haven’t read all the replies... but what do you expect? - more and more photographers get into Stock... - this is partly due to digital photography being more and more afordable... - partly due to many new stock agencies... - with the sheer number of photos being uploaded, many agencies don’t care anymore avout QC...Alamy is imho an exception! And I’m happy Alamy is working like this! - newspapers, news agencies also having huge concurence... - and tens of years photographers uploading photos that can be used for editorial and RF use... -etc... Be positive, photograph subjects in an unusual way, techinacly perfect, best suited for RF, editioral or whatever... just do your thing and enjoy..
  24. Advice Needed Please! Would You Add RAM to an Old iMac?

You should see an increase in performance for sure. Just check how many slots you have for RAM and check how many are filled. You should have four, filled with 2 x 4 GB. Best to buy the same type of memory, this is same capacity and speed. I have, my lightroom catalogue and latest pictures I have shot, on an SSD, then I archive them to a HD.
