  1. I've been incredibly lucky and had 4 editorial sales of the same RM image in the last 2 months or so, all between $100 and $830 - I'm not sure if they are all variances/extensions of the same usage or not as it is hard to tell from the license details and have been unable to find them using Google/Tineye. My jaw hit the floor every time one of them dropped in. And again when they cleared. So they seem to be around - But I'm fully aware I will likely never see sales like this again any time soon (if ever)!
  2. Sneaking in at the last minute, here's my three... Old NY cab America's Cup Roosevelt Island tramway
  3. Congrats on the win Wim! What a fascinating topic for the next one - Gets you really thinking... Its a dog's life... Only two things in life are certain; Death and taxes Setting yourself up for a fall...
  4. I must have missed the rule book when it comes to "normal" workflow then. Sometimes I will process a batch at a time, sometimes not. But when I do work on an image by image basis, usually when I'm processing random images from my backlog, I feel it allows me to mentally keep track of images and seems methodical to me. Maybe its not the easiest way, or how I'm supposed to, or how everyone else does it... But its horses for courses, right? I'm working in relatively small batches of 10-20 images anyway these days - I certainly don't expect it to stay open for "hours". Unfortunately I don't have multiple hours in a day to dedicate to photography/processing/uploading - I wish I did! I didn't have a problem with the old uploader timing out. Alamy have changed the system, and now I do. I do not think it is unreasonable to expect that a page which has a "Finish Upload" button, doesn't finish the upload until I click that button. I will give FTP a try, thanks Jill & LawrensonPhoto. Lizzy
  5. Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I have noticed a couple of times that the IM uploader (drap/drop method) will time out after a while and automatically submit, without me pressing anything. So I will end up with submissions of 2 or 3 images. I am finding this super annoying, as my workflow when I am in the Alamy zone will often be process image - check - export - check - upload to Alamy and on to the next. This means that there will often be 15 minutes + in between adding each image and I want them all in the same batch, not in several small ones! Yes, I could process and check all and then upload in one go, but my current method works for me! Well, it did, anyway. On a positive, I really like the addition of the drag/drop functionality. But please can you turn off this feature of timing out and automatically submitting? I don't see what purpose it serves... Many thanks, Lizzy
  6. Dreadful... One sale for $5, and a drought of zooms for the last half of Feb (thankfully followed by 3 yesterday ). Views seem down too. This month has left me feeling "meh" at worst, and at best thoroughly confused! (Not helped of course by the sporadic measures updates).
  7. Yep, slow here too - Just one sale for $5 so far... Still, have had a run of average to good months so I suppose I was due a rubbish one I'm not giving up hope yet though, another two weeks to go! PMA etc etc... Zooms are next to nil this month though, views slightly down but not significantly. I'm not sure whether to be concerned or not as my zooms rarely seem to turn into sales anyway, and most of my sales seemingly come from nowhere. But even so, I don't like to see the CTR slowly go down
  8. Hi Gennadii, Happy first year anniversary! Firstly I just want to congratulate on how much improved your English is from when you first joined. You should be so proud, and I am full of admiration for your determination in learning a new language! Your pictures are of a very high standard, and you have some really great shots in there! There are just a couple of bits I would mention though... Looking through the first few pages you seem to have a lot of similar images. For example the girl with the globe - There are 111 images which all basically illustrate the same thing. You could easily edit this down to 4 or 5 - as having so many will harm your CTR. I hope you don't mind me saying, but I also feel that you might do better with a more realistic and natural wardrobe/styling/poses for your models. The stockings and miniskirts etc combined with the poses almost seem like glamour shots. A teacher wouldn't wear a miniskirt and stockings in this way, so people looking for images of teachers are unlikely to pick these ones. I hope you understand what I mean and don't take offence, its just my personal opinion Might be worth having a look at what is already on Alamy for some styling inspiration? The lady in green with the book (HGJDPK - I really like this one!) is more natural in terms of wardrobe, make up and pose. And therefore much more appealing (I would imagine) to buyers Hope this helps Lizzy
  9. I had an unreported magazine use (think it was US though, not sure if it makes a difference), chased it around 4 months after the month of publication and it got added to the sales list more or less straight away. so I'd definitely report it Worst that can happen is they say its too soon!
  10. Quite simply the most amazing Urban GRAPHIC I have yet seen. So well conceived & executed. Lovely foregound, midground (lamp posts) and background elements. Actually a clear blue sky here would have been so discordant with the tonal harmony of this splendid image. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Kumar, India Thank you so much for the kind words Kumar!
  11. Thanks John and Graham, both super ideas! Will definitely be trying them
  12. I've had it for a few days now, my surnames W and only joined late 2015 so presumably not alphabetical or duration? No idea! Completely random? My first thoughts are that I like it. I haven't gone into anything complicated with it yet though, just keywording some new images and tweaking some recent ones and will be (eventually, and hopefully) working my way back through the whole lot . Apart from a few early uploads, I have always used commas and quotes for phrases, which has maybe made the switch a bit more straightforward as haven't noticed any hiccups (yet). Mind you I have only looked at about 5% of my images so time will tell I'm sure! My only complaint is (as I think others have already mentioned) that it should automatically de-select images upon saving changes IMO. Also the zoomed images could do with being a bit larger (or more zoomable) - Its a great feature and I'm glad its there, but the image is still not big enough to be able to check for or count teeny tiny people! Having to find and open an image locally to double check is a bit of a pain. Maybe its just me being lazy But I'm guessing its too late for suggestions now though...
  13. Great topic! Here's three from me... 1. Friends cooling off in Summer r 2. Selfie with friends, waiting for friends, and being bananas with friends (!) 3. Friends in top hats
  14. Congrats on the win Paulette - It was such a stunning image! Here's my three... 1.) New York behind fog 2.) Behind a boy sitting on a boat on the beach 3.) Behind a veil - Participants in the Pride 2016 parade remember the victims of the Orlando shootings.
  15. I thought maybe you might be a neighbor of mine, Lizzy. We seem to be the only two who've captured the swans mural. We're blessed with some really nice street art downtown here. "December 7th . . . a date which will live in infamy." FDR -- but it turns out it's a time for us to celebrate with Alessandra too. Edo I was indeed Edo! (Relatively speaking)...Sadly no longer though Was just there for a year, but oh my gosh what a wonderful, wonderful city. I would just spend hours walking around and geeking out over the architecture and street art...Those swans were my favourite, she is an incredible artist! Was disappointed to see that they were no longer there though the last time I walked past. (Although the new one in its place was very cool too!). The only downside to New York is that it makes my home town seem rather unexciting!
  16. Wim i'm doing the same, of course i've bad keyworded some of my images so i'm trying to fix this before Alamy re-rank me. Lizzy, your port show 570+ images... why 're you talking about 1500+ pics? Your sales with 570+ are quite impressive to me good for you... Thanks Kodakovic. If I recall correctly, the blue number below the forum avatars only updates with current numbers when you log out/ in of the forum. Since the forum never seems to log me out, it hasn't changed in many months I've given up figuring out the link between zooms and sales It seems like the majority of my sales were never zoomed, and many of my zooms are never sold! There's still a tiny glimmer of hope when I get a zoom, and I'm thankful that they bump my CTR back up a bit, but I don't expect a sale from them anymore. I do tend to go through Measures every day though to check nothing has been viewed that shouldn't be because of inappropriate keywording
  17. You're not alone- Quite a few of my most recent ones have vanished, and others have noticed similar problems too after todays rerank. See this thread http://discussion.alamy.com/index.php?/topic/6554-re-rank/page-5 Hopefully its just a bug and they will come back in a day or so Lizzy
  18. Great to see my fellow newbies doing well! (although maybe after a year we can't call ourselves noobs anymore ). My first anniversary here was a couple of weeks ago, and have had 23 sales (plus two as yet unreported, and one infringement pending) for a total of $998 gross with just over 1500 images now for sale. Have been super pleased with this, and has massively exceeded my expectations. However I was very lucky to have had plenty of time to be able to invest in Alamy during that year as I wasn't working... Now I'm back in the UK and working full time again, my Alamy and photography time is drastically reduced so I'm under no illusions that I will be able to maintain that level of growth (although I hope I do, and I will certainly try!). Good luck to everyone for another good 12 months! Lizzy
  19. Thanks Ann and Geoff for the info! I couldn't see anything to indicate it was a mock up, so I guess thats good. I will email Alamy to chase it up
  20. Stipe's German magazine question has prompted me to ask about magazine usages and how long roughly to expect the sale to show? I know people say up to 6 months for newspapers, but is it the same for magazines? I found one of my images in the September issue of InStyle magazine, but only on Issuu.com and didn't see it in physical print. Firstly, does anyone know if this site shows actual issues as went to press? (As opposed to draft copies?). As I wasn't familiar with this website before finding my picture there... Secondly, if it was a September issue, it would have been published in August (I think?) and presumably downloaded in June or July? (no idea how long it takes to make a magazine!) So should I chase in January? And would a screen dump of Issuu be enough proof for Alamy to chase? Thanks in advance Lizzy
  21. Congrats to everyone shortlisted! There were so many beautiful images it must have been so hard to narrow the selection down, but a fantastic final 8
  22. My best month ever with 3 sales for $220... It was kind of a funny month though, 2 sales for 30 each in the first couple of days then.......nothing.......until the last day when a $160 dropped in. So I spent most of the month feeling pretty disappointed Not any more though!
