  1. I keep filling in everything in the image in the Alamy editing and yet the orange line sying for sale. Why dont it turn green? am I doing something wrong?
  2. Pumping in lots of irrelevant keywords just to gain discoverabillity is not a good idea. Search placement on the contrary is everything. Having said that its very slow. I also believe its got to do with what kind of buyers an agency can attract. I joined another trad agency 6 months back, very specialized in my genre and they have sold more in these 6 months then Ive done here during 5 years!!. Fair enough I have a much bigger portfolo there but still its horses for courses, specialized agency or sort of run of the mill.
  3. Hahaha! yeah well at least we dont lick the floors of the imbecile EU politicians, haha! I say SWEXIT! and you Philippe will have to start campaigning for BEXIT!
  4. Martin! speak for yourself! Im not at all happy with the swedish way of selling beers and wine! if I want to buy a bottle in the evening I would like to be able to get it! hahahahihihihihi! oh well you know what I mean!
  5. Well to leave micro in favour of Alamy is fine. The thing is I think everybodys aim is to survive exclusivly on stock-photography and IMO that is completely impossible today being with just one agency. Sure there are a few but they are VERY few indeed. In the film days it was quite easy but nowadays its almost impossible!
  6. Got them both and the MIV. The MarkIII is better in every respect, the AF is far superior, video the lot!
  7. I am quite happy with the placement, cant complain but not happy with sales! with my placement I should at all accounts sell 3 times more! but not! and then my conclusion is simple: lack of buyers! lack of trafic.
  8. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous photographer is beset on all sides by theInequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil microstock. Blessed is he who, in The name of Alamy and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of Darkness and ridiculous low prices, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost Photographers. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious Anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my photography business . And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee ." Amen, Philippe Philippe, please let me know what you smoke because I'm becoming pretty jealous now! :-) I'm cleaning my house, so I'm in a terribly bad mood I HATE cleaning. What a waste of time ....... and the word "microstock" has the effect on me like a red rag to a bull .................. I need a coffee now....... I'll do the rest of the cleaning tomorrow ........ or next month. Anyway, I'm glad I could help Marb cutting the Gordian knot. Problem solved. Case closed! Let's move on ....... Cheers, Philippe MICRO-STOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahehehe! Still a mystery to me why you waste your time at Alamy. You only seem to respond here to tell everybody that traditional stock sucks and how well you do at microstock. From your talks and bragging (here and elsewhere), you must be a millionaire by now. But yet ........ you're here Cheers, Philippe Oh dear! it was meant to be a joke actually! didnt know you were so serious about it. Nope! microstock, GI, all of them are down and down. You want to try some of the smaller boutique agencies! heard they are doing terrific business.

  10. Haha! ironic! and funny!! but your Alamy is constantly over at the MSG forum and recruiting micro-stock photographers!!! didnt you know that? so of course they come here and why shouldnt they?... there is absolutely nothing in any RM/RF agency today that the major micros cant compete with. They can equal any concept and quality! no problem. The reason for lack of sales here is a completely different issue and have nothing at all to do with micro. This is an Alamy problem.
  11. Maybe here! but my God! its shot right up elewhere at some places!.... its very strange one can never tell. I have 4000 images at one place and the sales are reasonably good. I have 1200 at another and its just sky-rocketing. There just isnt any logic in stock-photography.
  12. Search goes back and forth, old, new search. Very professional this isnt it.
  13. Tags, keywords, this and that. I mean seriously! does anybody really think it matters as far as sales here? I dont! I think we are given the run around, getting us at it so to speak. Think about it not even the psychomatical egotistical big-G makes such a palava, paraphernailia about this BUT! by the look of it, keeps many people here on their toes.
  14. Philippe is right! its a complete lottery, gamble. For once I thought, great! new search-engine and surely they have got it right this time. Nope! not so, its even more weird then the old one. I give up!......hiring in Techs is not a cheap business, I happen to know that and you do have to hire outside tech-firms since they really are experts. No agency have got their so called "own" techs as such, all they have are a few with a little bit of knowledge thats all. Skimping or trying to save money on something like this and it will backfire badly. my 2c worth.
  15. what are you refering to when you say "creative"? When you upload your content, you decide weather its creative or editorial content. i have always uploaded creative/commercial BUT that dont sell here so from now on I will upload and under the editorial section, thats what sell!
  16. Haha! nah never heard or seen you Brian! but wait a minute...............! oh yeah!! No I dont know how to do it, although I will from now on upload all my content as RF-editorial, its pointless even thinking creative here.
  17. I am seriously thinking of switching creative content to editorial RF! I see no harm in this since in every search they are mixed anyway. Perhaps then I can avoid things like searching " oil industry" I see pictures of people using olive-oil! in cooking etc.
  18. I only upload creative images but since creative sales are so low compared with editorials I really see no point in too much processing or "special" processing. That will sell really well at many other of the trad agencies and even at the leading micros.
  19. The Canon MIV is in fact the only camera I regret buying during 2016. I did get it exclusivly for the 4K video which turned out NOT to be genuine 4K and in fact less practical then my Canon D80. The Canon D80 is by far the only canon most geared towards video. In 2015 I got the Canon 50Dsr and mainly for my commissioned work not stock ( overkill for stock) and this one completely slaughter the MIV. I would sum it up unless you need the crop factor, unless you absolutely need 4K ( which sell very little compared to 1080). the MIV is not very different from the MIII. The Canon MIII is still regarded as possibly the best Canon ever made.
  20. Pearl is right not very well behaved. Search is in fact a very simple algorithm nothing hokus pokus or supernatural at all about it. The art is HOW they want it and in what direction they want it skewed, tamperd with. Lets say you want fruit to sell and you wish 99% of sales to be apples and no oranges, this is very possible indeed. Funny but right now there is a thread at a forum going ( mostly amateurs ) complaining about the search etc. They are now ghost hunting, this and that. All of which was said and cried about 5 years back. Engineering, tampering with a search is very old news, nothing new.

  22. Doesn't make sense. What do you call huge portfolios? I have 43K images and I still have on average between 3 and 10 sales per day. Besides, since it takes approximately three months for sales to clear, you should see the effect on sales since the introduction of the new search engine starting from March. Not now. The only visible effect now are views and zooms, but not sales. Just my two cents. Cheers, Philippe Hi there! how goes? Well you might be in luck then Philippe! they have about the same size as your port, one of them even more! then again the size of the port is quite irrelevant. Its the content that counts. Considering the new search I would have thought High-commercial-images involving model-releases and all would actually sell better. Having said this if they still mix creative with editorial content? well then I can understand sales are scarse. all the best!
  23. As I said. The search engine seems to be working fine. However the lack of sales here is almost uncanny, gone! spoke to some other members, friends here and two of them with huge portfolios and zip! nothing since beginning of December. Could it possibly be that the search buyers see is different from the search that we see? There is another very large agency xxxx where these two searches are completely different so its possible. This drought is weird and even more so considering the vast amount of sales at other agencies.
  24. Actually I am rather pleased I think the search is delivering quite good results, relevant results in many categories. Far better then many competitors anyway. Just waiting for some sales now! haha!
  25. Alamy keep saying the keywording is so imoportant etc but Im beginning to think its only because they dont want spamming etc and thats good BUT I dont think it has the slightest impact on sales? myself and a few friends here and two of them have got more then 10K files in portfolios and frankly none have seen the slightest increase in sales. Of course keywording should be done properly anyway but I seriously doubt they have any effect on sales.
