  1. Alamy is certainly not dying in my experience, as far as number of sales are concerned.  Since January 1st I have sold 23 images (not included 2 refunded) so almost 4 a month with 2,300 images.  What has shrunk of course is the price - I have been on here long enough to remember when the price of a pic was something to get excited about.  It has been obvious for years that contributers to microstock agencies have been cutting all stock photographer's throats, not just their own, so my images are exclusive to Alamy and mostly RM.

  2. Is this as low as we can go - I have had some cheap sales but these take the biscuit - I have had 3 sales today all with the following details:

    Country: United Kingdom
    Usage: Editorial
Media: Magazine - print, digital and electronic
    Print run: up to 500,000
    Placement: Inside
    Image Size: 1 page
    Start: 01 December 2018
    End: 01 December 2023
Duration: 3 months. Any placement: Inside or cover.

Full page - not sure where - it says placement: inside then lower down it says 3 months inside or cover.  Magazine for five years, full page, so are these newspaper sales?

I did think only personal use could have such a low price (all 3 for same price just over $6 each gross).

  3. I have occasionally had a sale refunded and then replaced by the same image selling under a slightly different licence or price.  The only ones which have been refunded and not resold have been personal use and all images of drugs.  On April 1st a photo of Lansoprazole was sold for personal use and refunded on April 28th.  On 1st July I sold three pics of Tramadol for personal use and all were refunded on the 5th.  These are the only personal use pics I have ever sold!   I don't believe for a minute that these pics were for personal use.

  5. Hi,

I sold one of my images at the end of June to a newspaper, who used it on lots of different web pages. It has also appeared on a site which has no right to use it (presumably they have obtained it from the newspaper web site as it has no watermark).

I was going to send them an email re deleting my image from their site, but when I read further they say they do not "host or upload any pictures or images other than indexing them". They are therefore "not responsible for the accuracy, compliance, copyright, legality, decency, or any other aspect of the content from the scraped sites".

I am not very technical. Does this mean that they are saying my image is not on their site, they are just providing a portal so the image can be seen on the original site and therefore I can do nothing about it?

They are also inviting people to download and share with others on twitter, facebook, and other forms of social media.

It is only a small file but it still makes me mad - has anyone else had this problem?
