  1. I've been getting nothing but discounted distributor bulk image sales. Has Alamy gone MICRO?
  2. Anyone else in the US seeing an incredible rise in spam ( like from an average of 2/day to 15-18)...mostly from the UK? Makes me wonder.
  3. Out of 30 images clicked on last month, 28 were orange and considered "undiscoverable". I think Alamy needs to rethink this concept.
  4. IMHO, there is absolutely no consistency in licensing and pricing with Alamy. It's all over the place. IQ to me, euphamistically means the contributor gets the short end of the stick. How are we to make a living with micro pricing? I read of certain contributor's occasionally making 3 digit sales but the climate has certainly changed for the worse since joining Alamy 12 years ago. All I'm asking for is some consistency in licensing and especially pricing.
  5. My upload also keeps sticking at around 6% of first image. Must be something wrong with the servers.
  6. I feel your pain Linda. It's as if they took their toys away and ain't playin with you any more.
  7. Ironic how Vermont's neighboring state to the East, New Hampshire, state motto is " Live free or die".

  9. No Mark…you started it and BTW what the heck is this suppose to mean "This is a british forum."? I thought Alamy was an international corporation with a longterm business scheme. As an Alamy contributor, have I not the right to express my opinion on an open forum? It's no wonder most contributors avoid this forum like the plaque. "The reference was a reminder that Alamy is in law a British company" "This is a British forum" THERE YA GO!!!!!…This is a perfect example of the possible bias that I was discussing on Jeff Greenberg's thread regarding BHZ and the ranking of British photogs vs others. Another example that I thought of was that you never see any Alamy credits in the Chicago Tribune or the Chicago Sun Times. Mostly British newspapers aligned with the newspaper scheme…all local community based. I'm outta here…I have better things to do with my time…like maybe taking more images and improving my ranking.

  11. I'm not going to get sucked into a gun control discussion but currently the only people with guns in Chicago are the criminals and cops…. and the cops are rarely around when you need them. This is all about to change as Illinois has finally passed a concealed carry law (restricted but better than nothing). If the criminal punks think that a potential victim MIGHT be armed, they're probably less likely to want to carry out their criminal act. Here in America our constitution gives us the right to own and carry firearms for protection…and what better a time to exercise that right than now.
  12. With all the police protests occurring here in the US over the recent spat of shootings, I think it's quite possibly even more dangerous for photogs than before (especially NYC). The police aren't responding as aggressively to crime the way they used to and I don't blame them. I would think that if it was considered to be high priority ( photog's and news crews being robbed at gun point ), that the police would be setting up sting operations to catch these brazen punks. At the risk of sounding like an alarmist, it's almost coming to anarchy. Might be time to either purchase some insurance or photograph with an ally close by (a big guy with a concealed carry permit). I would also avoid white IPhones or the colorful 6C's. Why advertise that your holding an expensive camera phone? Black phones aren't as easily recognized at distances.
  13. From the Chicago Tribune…. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-tourist-robbed-at-gunpoint-near-buckingham-fountain-20141122-story.html You have to be careful no matter what large city you visit.
  14. My question pertains to Royalty Free. How are we to know if a RF sale is World-wide or sold in Britain when Alamy doesn't provide us that information. Would it benefit one to have Alamy make the claim based upon their knowledge of the RF sales?
