  1. Hi Mick! Good to hear from you - I will likely get L type RF lenses, or use my EF ones with the adapter, but for my usual images which are for stock will be well-served by the 24-240 which, from what I have been reading, produces exceptionally good images for it's type and price. Clearly I will want to look more into it, but if I was not going for this I would stay with the EF L 24-105, or maybe look at the RF 24-105 as I have the mark 1 version of the EF lens. Shall also have a look at the Z6 with 24-70 .... Cheers Kumar
  2. I am presently shooting with Canon full frame - 5D3/5D2 plus several EF L lenses. However I am finding that quite often I am just not taking the heavier lenses with me (specifically the 70-200 L f2.8 II) as its just too heavy for the odd occasion that I might use it. The 100-400 f4-5.6 just comes out for special occasions; so my usual lenses are the 24-105 f4L and the 16-35 f4L. I am seriously considering changing to the new R6 with a couple of RF lenses - specifically the 24-240 which would cover quite a range of focal lengths. Anyone else looking at this camera?
  3. First of all, thank you for doing this. It is, to quote Geogphotos, "A reminder of what is best about Alamy" Very much looking forward to hearing about your vision for Alamy in future years. My interests: 1. A clarification on "ranking" - how much is it weighted to the contributor, and how much to the image/s? 2. I agree personal/presentation use should be limited to low resolution images, or charged more if full sized images are wanted 3. Please update us on what is happening/how effective are the Alamy outlets in other countries -
  4. These days I think that would not affect your ranking in the way it might have done 4 years ago. And the fact that a purchaser has specifically searched all your images is a good thing - may result in future sales. Kumar
  5. Thanks for the competition title Wim, delighted to make the cut given the number of excellent entries! Kumar
  6. Fairly stable figures for monthly sales/income for Covid-ridden 2020. 56 licences for $1224 gross. Only 1 in the low $$$ bracket. If December continues in the same vein I am heading for approx. 2014 final sale numbers, and 2012 final income amounts Kumar
  7. Sold an Image on Saturday and one on Sunday - probably the first time that has happened Kumar
  8. Have been in newspaper scheme for a while, and at the end of this month there has been a drop in my views and zooms. Losdemas must have nicked them! 🙃 Kumar
  9. Ed - I also did B&W darkroom stuff for about 10-15 years prior to digital - had a (very) brief fling with colour darkroom work but was not worth the hassle Kumar
  10. I quite enjoy all aspects of the image production as they involve different skills, but the part that takes me longest is the Image captioning and tagging. I also have a lot more of this to do - several hundred images which have passed QC but not tagged yet.... Kumar
  11. Hi Patrick, I tend to agree with you - seems the only thing in the last couple of years that changes image positions is new images being added; and there perhaps may be changes in position when an image has been purchased, if the next search uses the same keywords again (ie an image purchased moves up in search position if the same search words/phrase is used again) Kumar
  12. Going back to Ian's question 631 sales so far in 2020 2 to the United States; an advertising sale in June for my highest fee ever, and a reasonable $$ sale for TV use in November. Thats that for the USA (and I do have about 2000+ images taken in the USA) Kumar
  13. Views, Zooms and sales all down by a similar proportion, to about 66% normal. CTR therefore approximating to normal; - but mainly a travel-biased portfolio. Kumar
  14. An image I tagged 2 days ago is now on for sale, if thats of any help Kumar
  15. Thank you Elisabeth, I think that would be much appreciated! BW Kumar
  16. NHS Hospital food, sold for very low $$, presentation use. Kumar
  17. Great image, Roy! Got yourself a recurrent seller there I am sure. Kumar
  18. Congrats Wim on your win! I guess photogs in the Netherlands had an advantage! 😉 Here are my three: 1. Photographers on the beach at sunset, Laig Bay, Isle of Eigg, Scotland 2. A buddhist monk taking a photo on his phone; U-Bein bridge, Mandalay, Myanmar 3. A family taking a selfie at a Father Christmas race, Wichester, UK Kumar
  19. Thanks Ricky but there are many that achieve better results than I do but don't necessarily post on the forum! I was just lucky to start early with Alamy, have a large number of images and a reasonable rank. Kumar
  20. I agree no measures update today, Monday 9th November but I had a sale drop in yesterday so I think sales are working OK kumar
  21. I also have tended to include the plural when keywording a single thing in an image because as said, searchers may well use the plural when wanting a single and visa versa. If an image has just one person in it, for example, cooking, I would still include the keywords person and people, but maybe also One and "1". It may sometimes reduce your ranking over a period of time, but I think this is a minor loss compared with the m=number of extra views and possible sales. Also, a searcher may think he just wants a picture of a cat, but may be persuaded by a picture with mor
