For anyone considering an iMac I would certainly suggest they look at an M1 Mac mini with SSD and a separate monitor. These days even average desktop monitors are excellent. And even Macbook fans might think about having an SSD Mini desktop plus a lower spec, smaller and lighter Macbook model for portability. You have 2 devices available if the unthinkable happens (and sadly it can). If you're managing a large image collection you may want to consider a NAS or similar network storage accessed by both devices.
