I am considering, still, buying the NEX 6 for stock work but noise in the sky at 200 ISO does not sound so good. This after shooting clear blue skies with Canon 5D II at 400 ISO and no, or very little, noise.

Is the noise from NEX 6, in this situation, particularly bad in your opinion?

    Allan,

Dont worry. I shoot for longer time with the NEX 6 now and i dont ever had failed QC. Also the ISO performance is amazing. It is far better than i ever had with my Canon 50d. ISO 1600 no problem for this camera.

  2. You will see how much more images you will create since you can easily take the camera with you. At least this counts for me. Before i had mirrorless camera i left camera because of size home and many times i missed some nice moments. Now i have the camera more often with me what means more spontanic images.

    Good luck!

  3. This is off-topic, but you (alaskadude) might want to check out some of the forum discussions about the problems associated with uploading too many similars. It can lower your CTR and thereby have a negative effect on sales. Self-editing can really pay off.

    Happy trails.

John ....  i think something went wrong during uploading from Alaskadude. I can not imagine this is in purpose...... i hope so.

Alaskadude i would really follow Johns advice. This will be bad for sales but also Alamy will not be happy to see that i guess ;).

  4. Belgium here ;)

Unfortunately, the answer is "Nope!" Very poor sales of Belgian landmarks and cityscapes. Luckily, I have lots of pictures of nature related subjects that can be sold all over Europe. In other words, which are not specific country related.

Don't focus only on Alamy because you'll be deeply disappointed about your specific-Poland-pictures' sales (number of sales as well as $$ ..... Polish clients pay poorly, all of my Polish sales in 2013 are under 50$, most are under 40$ ..... and that's gross).

Because Alamy doesn't require exclusivity, I would strongly advice to look for a Poland agency to distribute your strict Polish related pictures. I do the same in Belgium and it is very well worth the effort though I have to redo all the captions and keywords in French.

    Cheers,

    Philippe

     Thanks.

Philippe..... is it snowing in Belgium? According to your last image :).

  5. Just to come back to the un-edited submissions.

I have to say in on side it is great that Alamy offers this (Talking forphotographers that sends good images and not abuse the system). We can send images without getting strange refusals. For example i had on some agencies sometimes strange refusals on images that where doing very great on other agencies. This problem dont exist in Alamy. It is a big plus for us photographers.

Like i said before only pitty that some people used it the wrong way :(.

  6. Thanks Steve :). I wish you good luck!

    Thank you all! :).

Paul ... i think it is beacuse i just moved to Poland 8 months ago and am still in the excitement mode :). I still have to see more places so still some way to go. I see that you have also growing portfolio with good lifestyle images. We all can make Alamy bigger :).

I've added about 750 images to Alamy in the last 3-4 months. I've given my process a little re-think and feel that just snapping anything wasn't working for me. Not many of my images tell many stories, and I think this is where the key to alamy sales lies.

Paul you are also not so long on Alamy.

I experienced for expample (dont ask me why) that on some microstock sites my sales started to come after few months. I had there 1000 images online from the beginning. First month nothing, second nothing and suddenly the start to come and then i had some good addition from them. By the way i would nor recommend to start with microstock in my oppinion. The commision are starting to get very low. I had the last days 20 sales for each around 0,22 dollars. I am giving my time now to Alamy since i dont have time to send to multiple agencies. I will see what future tells me.

  7. Thank you all! :).
