  1. I really believe that we have to accept Alamy selling photos for much smaller prices. If everywhere else images have a low price range why clients would pay 5 times more. I would for sure not. It is hard for us all and we can be angry that Alamy revenues are often just 14 dollars or arround that but asking for more is very unrealistic. Especially after the Getty move. We can not set the price for same potatoes 5 times higher then others and think that it will sell. For sure not. I think if Alamy doesnt react it will loose. I see companies like Shutterstock making no loose with it since they are starting to build a large collection of editorial images. Clients can buy a licence there for just few dollars and avoid ads on their websites. For few dollars it is worth it. Lets wait for the next period. Mirco
  2. This is indeed the best thing to think about first. This is not only relevant to Alamy but i many sence also to other agencies.....even microstock. Similars really will hurt your reputation. When client sees 10 almost the same images and have to go throught all of them they will get irritatet. On Alamy you have the extra thing that it will affect your search position. Better have 2 images on top then 10 totally down. What i learned the best thing to do if you want more images is for every subject to have 1 landscape, 1 portrait and 1 different then the two for example taken from the right down corner. So 3 images but all three different shot. Then a client can choose from 3 different images. Sorry Rakesh to go little bit next to topic. Related your question i can say that 66% percent of my sales came from zooms. Mirco
  3. Good then i say 0 sales in March also . Even if i will have 2 sales or 3 i think i will be very close to my guess. The new monthly challenge...... guess your number of sales. I think i could be a very good player in this....
  4. Hello, This is the correct one and ignore the March topic. We can use it next month . Like i said zero sales in February. Mirco
  5. I see i made a mistake ... oeps.... How was your february it should be .... NO there is no month time difference in poland......
  6. I just start allready the thread since midnight is passed in Poland . I had zero sales in february. Mirco
  7. Great to see that you all remember . Yes i got him yesterday....fiance Karolina and baby boy Antonio both very healthy. Just Karolina has to stay still till tuesday at the hospital since she had a ceasarian section. So i have the next 3 days free time. I am happy father now. All baby stuff is prepared so i will use the next 3 days to shoot and hope to get close at number 3 from my previous email directed to John.
  8. John ...... i think the receipt is: 1. move to canada 2. Buy a Sony Nex 6 3. Be a good photographer as you I have allready number 2 :)
  9. So it means that days from the past will be still updated and shown sales of today are only direct sales? So it also means because i am since end august 2013 on Alamy that the most chance for reported sales will be now for me since i am now 6 months on Alamy. Is my thinking true? Mirco
  10. Hey Johnnie, This results like approx 55 sales per day. Minus Jeff Greenberg and Philippe and other top sellers and there will be not much left anymore .
  11. Thanks Jools, Hmmmm..... then there are +/- 50 sales per day. So it looks indeed hard to get a piece of the cake. I admire the photographer with several sales per day .
  12. Hello everyone, I am asking myself something. At Alamy measure you can see how many sales there where on a specific day. Are this all the sales or is there not 100 percent shown? I ask this because i am curious what happens if a "non Alamy measures" client buys a licence. Does it means that this sale will be not shown in that area and only in "summary of sales"? I hope i explained myself good. Thank you. Mirco
  13. He Johnnie, I am very curious how you found out that your image was placed on the poster and movie? Mirco
  14. Hi Maria, I was also very happy to see my first sale. It only pushed me to work more. Few weeks lather the next 3 appeared. Like others mentioned you have great images and deserved to have your first sale. Mirco
  15. Nice to see that you make such sales John. I remember that you had a good january too. You know what you are doing . Mirco
  16. It is like you said indeed. Many people can take their images themselfes to save 150 dollars. But downloading an image for 3 dollars is still worth of it price. The person dont need to go out to spend time and money. I would even download an image of a rose that i could find in my backyard for 3 dollars. I dont need to edit it. I know it sounds small. But there are like i said many people with this thinking and will download instead of going out or even putting on the camera. This is also creating high volume. I took now a very simple example of a very simple client. People like to have it convinient and cheap. About quality microstock is also to speak high off. Try to pick on agency and you will be suprised about the standards of this days. We only can wait.......
  17. My worries about it is just that editorial images will be massive uploaded on microstock that will make an impact on traditional stock sites. On this moment there are far more editorial on Alamy but what about in 1 year? Especially low budget publisher will see a great deal with it. I can also image situation that someone need an image of the shopping mall in his city and decide to take an image himself instead of paying 150 dollars. But microstock editorial for 3 dollars will make the same person decide to stay on his chair and dowload it. Like that will be many more clients. 40 people like that will make 120 dollars. I really think there are many "hidden" costumers with the same idea. This makes me just worried. Mirco
  18. Hi Mihai, Yes.... this makes me also thinking. The fact is that it is happening. You can upload RF editorial to the agency and it will be available worldwide for download. I know 6 microstock agencies that are selling editorial that why without restrictions. Mirco
  19. Hello everyone, As we know the industry is not sleeping. I see in the stock industry changes. It is not to overseen anymore. Having seen also the microstock business I don’t know if you noticed that more and more agencies are accepting “not news related” editorial images. The last one that made this change is Shutterstock. Photographers are now able to submit editorial images of people doing shopping or parents having a walk with their children at a park. As long the people are not possed it will be accepted as “Human interest editorial”. Photographers reporting already regular sales from this kind of RF photos. Because of the low prices also low budget magazines publisher will become new clients. What do you think? How far will this affect stock sites like Alamy and co? Should we be worried? Curious about your thinking. Mirco
  20. It was on the agency forum. The information came from the CEO himself. Does somebody know how many over 10k images Alamy sold? Wich where the famous sales . Mirco
  21. Hello everyone, I just get stunned to see on a other agency that an images was sold for roughly 11.000. It was a photo of a thunderstorm taken on a stative. So it means that it is still possible. Mirco
  22. Hello again, Thanks for the replies . I see indeed that the Stockimo topic is becoming hot here. I am using Android......... But anyway i prefer to go small with an mirrorless camera. I dont want to loose the photographer feeling . Mirco
  23. Hello everybody, Unfortunatly the baby is still in the belly...... it looks he is very comfortable. Even after due date . I just wanted to say that i managed to keep Alamy. At the end it is not a problem. Also i kept reading your posts all the time.... so it makes me think to let Alamy oline. Somehow i can not be without..... Am i a normal person ???? . Mirco
  24. Yes, i also say always completely white if you want to use white. Otherwise choose something that fits with the phone. Wooden background of a table. Like i said something that fits. Of course not phone on a stone tile. Better wooden background then "not white" white. Mirco
  25. I am really afraid that it will go (or is) like this: Traditional stock is going lower with prices to compete with microstock agencies. In the meantime quality of microstock is very high. Just take one site and see it yourself . Every day this agencies are getting more and more buyers. One has allready 7 million buyers. That is crazy. How much i love Alamy.... i am afraid that more and more buyers are jumping over..... images you can get for 3 dollars instead of 75. Photographers will see more potential in microstock since they have millons of buyers and one image can be sold hundreds of times. I wish we will have many more years in Alamy.
