  1. A favourite style of photo from me, I have far too many like this in my collection!
  2. The GoPro is on the unsuitable camera list: http://www.alamy.com/contributor/help/unsuitable-cameras.asp I have a GoPro Hero 3 and even if it was on the accepted list of cameras I'd never submit any of the photos I have taken, the quality really isn't up to the standars required- videos on the other hand are very good (although maybe because I've learnt to be more self-critical over my photography and I am a total novice with videos). Interestingly I find the fact that its images are unsuitable quite liberating - I can use it purely for the enjoyment of photography/videography without concerning myself with worrying about QC. Neville
  3. Not sure if it's bad form to report your own photos, but I had a photo in the Mail on Sunday on the 3rd November, cropped and perhaps unsurprisingly uncredited: Really rather pleased as it's my first Live News sale and the fact it was chosen over some Getty/AP images, who I believe almost have the monopoly on sports images.
  4. Jeff, I hope you took a shot of the billboard and submitted that, licensing a photo of one of your licensed photos would be a great story

  7. These inspirational women feeling the heat in the 2011 London Marathon. At this point they'd already run 23 miles in this costume Slightly tenuous but topical... 35 degree heat on the Champs Elysees last weekend and these guy still power on And perhaps an obvious and popular shot of a match being struck
  8. Many congratulations, my first sale was also of a meerkat and I remember how pleased I was seeing that little underlined number 1 in Alamy Measures To be honest, as an infrequently licensee I still get a little smile when I see a number in that column! I too had some meerkat photos sold yesterday. In fact I get little batches sold every few months - they end up in a small page-per-day desktop calendar so keep your eyes peeled. Neville
  9. I think every minute counts so the sooner the better, but an hour after the event is better than 2 hours or never... And yes I believe rider shots before tomorrow's stage would also be accepted into the news feed - I've successfully submitted these sorts of photos for a recent cycle event in London. I think there's a healthy market for "behind the scenes" shots, just look at the great work people like Sky's Scott Mitchell produce.
  10. Best of luck Jools, I'll look out for your shots. It's such an interesting sport to watch and photograph. I've been to Paris for the final stage the last couple of years - last year I uploaded some photos to the news feed and although nothing came of it initially, once the photos entered the stock archive they've generated a lot of zooms and so far one decent sale (CMD69G).
  11. Personally I'd say 3. The question about number of people serves two purposes. Firstly if you say anything other than zero people it prompts the question about model releases. For this purpose it makes no difference if you say 1 or 3 (if you do not have model releases). The second reason is to assist image buyers in their searches - for this reason I would put 3 in the field as there are distinctly 3 people there. All my own opinion of course, I wonder what MS would suggest?
  12. In my opinion Paulette I think you've got it spot on. I actually quite like the higher than average payment threshold (as highlighted by Jools) - for contributors who sell lots they most likely pass this threshold most months anyway so it becomes irrelevant, but for occasional sellers like myself it doesn't really matter if I get $50 every 6 months or $175 every 18 months - in fact I prefer the latter as it's a nicer reward which I don't just fritter away. But I do agree that the option should be available to withdraw funds if no new sales have occured in a particular timeframe, say 12 months, to avoid the situation the OP described. Neville
  13. Thanks Andrew and Phil, I've just uploaded some photos to the newsfeed and put my favourite at the top of the uplaod list - it does indeed use that. Can't believe I never thought of or realised that!
