  1. This is a nonsense! Nothing more than a titillation for the masses of rare contributors to Alamy. It is also IMO a device to cover up dwindling fees and say "look what we're doing for our contributors".
  2. I am happy that Alamy caters for all types of photographers and is not 'elitist' at all. However it takes 30 mins or so to go through images that sell or have sold on Alamy to get some idea of 'where it's at' here. So alexandersr have a look at the forum and educate yourself. It's easy. Alamy is UKcentric naturally as it is UK based but does sell internationally pretty good. Also you have a small portfolio of images here on Alamy. That in itself is a detriment to sales. Keep shooting more and different type of images and be aware of your caption information and 'tags'.
  3. Well it was $28,560 .. gross! Then I woke up, made a coffee, logged on to Alamy and found I had made a sale of $18 gross! But really my best ever was $480 gross for 'commercial brochure' back in 2012. The dream was good though - almost sexual in it's excitement/intensity value. In the dream I never identified what the image was of - just the amount on my Alamy sales on computer page. Ho hum.
  4. Fair point Avpics. But since advertising on the web is experiencing all-time high revenues we should expect an increasing revenue for our work? But we are seeing an downward trend in revenue per image license - well at least I am. I'm making more licenses but increasingly less money for each one. Don't get me wrong, I like Alamy, but the trend is not just a 'market thing'. It is a 'greedy grab' from most of the 'Picture Agencies' making out that the low prices are just part of the market trend. This is false. disingenuous.
  5. Are you high? Used for free? Why would you do that? It's your work for goodness sake. Do you think that it's acceptable to work for free? Yes we may all do 'charitable works' for no recompense, financial anyway, but many of us on Alamy are professional photographers trying to earn our living.
  6. Yeah, thanks Avpics, I couldn't get a post on. The whole thing seemed broken. I kept trying to send a post but nothing happened and then got a message saying "error" . However all seems well now and the posts have all gone through! Never meant to send more than once. Richard
  7. Well I couldn't get on to forum for a while. Tags? Yes because apparently they insist upon them ............... I worry about how Alamy closes topics which they decide are "unsuitable" often regarding genuine debatable points that may, at first, seem "anti-Alamy" but need to be discussed nonetheless. Anyone heard of freedom of speech ? We are all PART OF ALAMY! We have made ALAMY WHAT IT IS TODAY! And, I believe, that our contribution should not just be overlooked and buried just because a comment may be regarded as "bad for business". Whose business? OURS!
  8. Interesting when you consider the below and how Alamy have consistently taken away commission and rights from their contributors. Promises, promises It’s worth taking a look back at the bright new photographer centred business that Alamy so proudly offered us at its launch. This is what they said: “We place our contributors at the centre of our service” “This is just the start of the new way forward for the creative mind.” “Only alamy.com will sell the images you supply us with.” "On every sale alamy take 10% commission + about 3% credit card fee. YOU GET around 87% of the sale!!!! YES! 87% !!!" “It’s not like you are entering an arrangement that ties your images up for a lengthy amount of time.” “We have no interest in making changes to the contract to the detriment of photographers now or in the future.” "How can we be assured that alamy.com will not increase the commission in their favor in the future? It would not be in alamy.com's interest to change terms to the detriment of our contributors, since our success depends on attracting large numbers of contributors.” Every one of those promises has now been broken.
