  1. I totally agree - and don't get me started on the National Newspapers selling millions of copies. I reckon that these "greener pastures" are myth. Besides, many of us have spent several years and hundreds of hours building our portfolios on Alamy. So that, combined with all the extra time and work it would take IF we could find another library to post to leaves us with few, if any options. Alamy know this and are taking advantage. So here we are today. The "exclusive" gang are all smiles, but what about the rest of us? We haven't yet reached a happy solution! See
  2. Could be! However, just for the record and for new Alamy contributors, I should mention that when I joined Alamy back in 2006, the commission to me was 60% and then later on they took it down to 50% and promised not to reduce it any further. Now the commission set to go down to 40% with a rather uncertain mumbling of not reducing it further. If that doesn't annoy or worry you - maybe you should see if you still have a pulse...........
  3. I don't have the time (or the will) to read all the replies in this thread but now that the dust has settled a little, I see this 50% commission for images "exclusive" to Alamy as being one of the most devious diversions this decade. Just my opinion, but anyway... Many of you who were up in arms at the commission cut are being so DISTRACTED by this new "offer" (let's face it - you aren't being given anything), that in an effort to make your images "exclusive" are forgetting what our original gripe was about! Some of you are even thanking Almay - for what??? We also
  4. Yes I agree it seems to be a Buteo. Interestingly, your link to a juvenile goshawk shows a bird very much like one I snapped at the Raptor centre. The youngsters don't look anything like adult goshawks. I thought it might be a female if not a juvenile.
  5. Yes I looked there but they have far more birds than listed on their website. Thanks anyway.
  6. Thank you for the info Joseph, I think you may be right. There were other Swainson's Hawks at the falconry which have a slightly different appearance from this guy, but that could be why I didn't snap the ID plaque again when I saw this critter. Thanks also for pointing me to a useful bird website. That is also a great idea spacecadet. Thanks. Thanks everyone for your input - much appreciated. Hope I can return the favour some day.
  7. Thanks for trying guys. This is actually larger than a Peregrine falcon and I know it isn't a buzzard. I suspect it is some kind of hawk (but then again who knows). I usually snap the ID of the critter when photographing it but obviously lost the plot on this occasion.........
  8. Can any of you clever birdy people out there identify this critter for me please. If it helps, he/she resides at Cotswold Falconry Centre. Thanks, Krys
  9. Why would anyone what a picture of 4 medicinal capsules in blister pack wrapping for "Personal Use"??? Again, for 5 years. Only consolation was that the image was RF and I got a whopping $14.11
  10. As lovely as your photos are, 135 images isn't many in the big sea of pushing 100 million on Alamy now. Also you captions may be cute, but they are not at all descriptive in many cases. For travel photos, I always specify what the subject is and where it is. I think I had over 1000 photos posted with Alamy before I made my first sale. In my 14 years as a pro-snapper, I have also never done and never will do microstock so if I have that special image, the buyer has to come to Alamy or another similar site to get it. Keep posting images and good luck!
  11. Maybe Alamy thinks that we don't all have lives outside this website...........
  12. Thanks Broken Pixel, I eventually discovered (pardon the pun) how to do supertags. It still doesn't "green you up" without those additional ordinary keywords. Lets all get paranoid, what do you say???!!!
  13. OK, so I experimented. I selected 10 supertags on some old images but it was only when my total number of keywords reached 42 or more (I think) that the orange bar went to green! May seem daft, but won't some people be adding just any old keywords just to get the numbers up and pass the "Discoverability" test!
  14. I thought the top box was the image title or caption. A description, not a bunch of standalone supertags! I think we're getting wires crossed here...
  15. Ed, are those the keywords we used to put in the 3rd box down in the old forms? Can't be can it as we were allowed more than 10! I think I am totally confused...
  16. My DACS payment is up 27% from last year. I suppose it is all cumulative! I am a happy bunny.... er.... marmot....
  17. Yes, I've just received one from someone called "Miss Rosine"! Ignore, delete or forward on to Member Services for action!
