  1. "Please be assured that it’s business as usual at Alamy" I've never heard that one before
  2. Just got this email. Clicking on the link returns, "System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at ASP.myupload_metadatadownloadhandler_aspx.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)" It would actually be simpler if they showed up under Attributes or Discoverability rather than having to hit up the server. They are not AFAIK part of the new images that haven't passed QC yet. You currently have 30 images offline, images that could potentially be making you money! It's important to take the next step and get them on sale. They've passed quality control so all you need to do is write the captions and add tags. A spreadsheet highlighting offline images can be requested in Alamy Image Manager, simply click 'Send me my data'.
  3. Yes, looking forward to that last week. My other markets and outlets came back after the summer slump with a bang, so just a little disappointed. After a steady 12 year increase in revenue at Alamy, 2019 is disappointing as a whole. It's still a great outlet, so I'm hanging in. Patience. I've heard of that. Not much experience with it. Is it any good?
  4. Been looking through the forums, and it doesn't seem to be effecting anyone else, but heading into the last week of September, I may have my first month with no sales in over 2 years. The summer, as expected, has been a bit slow, but September is usually when things pick back up. Not really a question, just needed to vent a bit.
  5. I'm not sure how long this has been going on, but the uploader seems to be automatically marking the first 10 keywords as supertags. This would be great if I pre-ordered keywords, which I should and often do, but not always. Then, as difficult as it is to mark supertags, I have to do double work. Is this an option that can be turned on/off?
  6. Or the software actually combines with another tag
  7. I would spend the time to supertag all of my images if it wasn't like playing whack-a-mole to get the star to turn blue.
  8. Yes, very frustrating. I thought at one point, I had identified the sweet spot, but just spend a long time on a handful of images with the cursor flipping between the hand, the arrow and the four-sided arrow. Didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. I am using a 32" monitor.
  9. How had you sold live news photos in the past if you aren't in the live news program? Is it something new. I've been a contributor here for 10 years, but never paid attention to the live news part. Then 3 times in the last months, I've had a newsworthy image. Don't really care if it goes through live news, but I can't wait several days to go through the normal process.
  10. Just went through this process. Good news is that my latest editorial sale where I could grab a good tearsheet was sold from Alamy. Bad news, I had to jump through many hoops to create a < 1MB PDF file. Now I wait.
  11. I searched through a few of these but couldn't quite find my answer. On my dashboard, it says, 78 images not on sale. If I click on that, it brings up my Image Manager with a window showing 17 images. Under that is says, All 20 | Not on sale 15. So first, what is the discrepancy between 78, 20 and 15? Next, if I click on one, I have found in the past, they are usually missing a caption. These are not. In addition, if I click on any image, in the pane on the right it says, On Sale at the top. In every case, I clicked on the caption, which had anywhere from 15-25 characters, put the cursor at the end of the caption and entered a space. They immediately change to On Sale. Easy enough to do that to 15 (or 17 as the case may be) images, but what about the rest of the 60? TIA
  12. When you're at a beautiful travel destination and someone asks you why you're taking a picture of a telephone pole.
  13. Thanks, I sent an email to support. Wasn't sure of live news email address
  14. Not sure how to contact re this. I know there is a newsworthy upload process, but this one has been on the site for years. Just sold a cruise ship image on the site. Don't know if it's related, but the one below has been selling like crazy on another site due to the measles quarantine in the news today. Don't know of there is a way to push it to the top. I have modified the keywords, but other than that, didn't know how to handle. I never registered for the news side of the house. Freewinds Cruise Ship Docked in Aruba.jpg - HWG908

  16. I think I have found the secret to hitting the stars. Don't aim for them. Click just to the right of the star. Or if you move in from the right where the cursor is a four-headed arrow move cursor, click as soon as it changes to a regular pointer. I've gone through quite a few images with the page at normal zoom and it's pretty flawless.
  17. I just had one removed under this ban. It may or may not be okay. I don't know, because I don't know what image it was. They sent a reference number, but since it's removed, I can't find it. Is there someplace to find removed images?
  18. I wish they would make those little stars easier to click. I feel like I am playing a video game sometimes.
  19. I've had a Black Rapid for years, but just got a newer one. Not only is the shoulder strap more comfortable, if I'm doing a lot of walking, but it also has an extra strap that comes under your off arm. It doesn't stop the bouncing but keeps it from sliding around so much. I have gotten so used to keeping my right hand on the camera while I walk - ready to shoot mode, that I don't really notice it anymore.
  20. I don't know if common names will help, but here in the southern US, we have always called them Japanese Magnolias. This is to differentiate from the more common saucer magnolia, which we sometimes call southern magnolias. The variety you picture is always the first thing to bloom here in the early spring, and don't last very long. The saucer magnolias, bloom in the summer and last quite a while. Here is the local version of yours and a bud from the saucer magnolia. Hope this helps
  21. That was probably it. It was details on a building with a lot of shadows. Some of them may have looked like a black border to someone not paying attention. Fortunately, it was a one-off and I didn't get put in the sin bin.
  22. I try to be careful with submissions and never submit anything with known issues, but I have never heard of this, and looking at the image, I have no idea what the problem is, or what this error might mean. Thanks
  23. I've got some I won't be needing. Current Cleared Balance: $3We'll pay you once your balance is over $50
