  1. Hi everyone, Just a quick note to say we've updated the general rules to include a line about promoting or highlighting Alamy competitors. We let as much stuff go as possible, but at the end of the day this is an Alamy forum so we can't allow posts that promote / highlight / encourage others to use services that are in direct competition with us. We're not saying you can't mention our competitors during discussions, but it clearly would not make much sense for us to allow any form of promotion to our competition. Cheers Alamy
  2. Thanks John - try not to take a locked thread too negatively (appreciate it's easier said than done!) A locked thread doesn't always mean someone has done or asked something wrong, it just means that the thread has run it's course and has come to an end. Keeping things neat and tidy in one place helps keep things constructive. Cheers Alamy
  3. Sorry you feel like that Paulette, there is no need to! Much of the forum moderating goes unnoticed and behind the scenes. With so many posts and members, it can sometimes be a bit of a challenge getting the balance right but overall the Alamy forum is a nice place to be, much nicer than some other places anyway! If we lock or delete a thread, we'll usually send a private message to the topic starter to explain or we'll leave a closing statement before the lock. If we don't give an explanation it's usually because we feel that the latest comment in the thread made a great closing poin
  4. Here's an update and a summary of the contest. Cheers! http://www.alamy.com/Blog/contributor/archive/2014/03/14/5643.aspx
  5. If you email news@alamy.com they may be able to help with this. Alamy
  6. We’re adding a feature for news photos soon as part of the Stockimo app. We'll announce this properly when it's ready

We can't offer stockimo support on the forum. If you've got any questions, please email support@stockimo.com. Cheers Alamy
  8. Just to stifle any conspiracy theories... Nothing has changed in QC. If any changes were to happen, we'd absolutely let everyone know - it wouldn't make any sense to keep it a secret! QC pass rate is at an all time high and we're adding more images than ever.
  9. A couple of points here 1 - Please do not start threads that are all capital letters in the title - it comes across as very aggressive. We've edited the title of this post for that reason. 2 - Our previous comments on this still stand. - http://discussion.alamy.com/index.php?/topic/492-please-get-rid-of-the-red-ticket/?p=5199 Alamy
  10. Off topic paranoia = we're closing this one down folks, sorry. Regarding the original question, you technically can upload from an iPad as the app is compatible with it. Cheers Alamy
  11. Advanced Member = 500 posts. Standard forum "ranking" scheme. Maybe we should change the wording...hmmm. Alamy
  12. Hi, we've posted up a follow up blog about Stockimo http://www.alamy.com/Blog/contributor/archive/2014/02/21/5630.aspx Thanks for your comments on this thread but it looks like it's run its course so we are locking it down Thanks Alamy
  13. No deal whatsoever with Apple. It made sense to initially develop for one platform (lots of apps do/did this, eg, instagram) and our research told us that iPhone would be best suited to this project initially. Developing for different platforms is on the roadmap - it's all just dependent on how the project develops.
  14. True, but they weren't ever pushed to the first page as the phone images currently are. Nothing is pushed to the front page. Search results follow exactly the same rules as any other images. So why are so many people reporting finding them at the front of searches? Keyword relevancy, diversity algorithm etc etc.

  16. Just a quick point - any posts pointing to other photographer's images and subjectively questioning their quality will be removed. Repeatedly doing this will lead to your forum account being suspended.
  17. The spirit of Stockimo is to encapsulate mobile imagery and iPhoneography. Images are rated before being approved and if anything is spotted coming in that has not been taken on a mobile device, it'll be rejected.
  18. If I was a customer and was going to pay the same price for all imagery, I would want it to be made obvious, or given the opportunity to exclude, mobile phone images. It's a good idea but it should be a separate portfolio. They seem to be throwing ideas randomly into the arena and seeing which ones stick.... I really cannot believe they thought they could lump them all together without a way for the customer to exclude/include them in searches. All Stockimo images start with an S prefix and customers can specify file sizes in their searches to be over a certain size if smaller ima
  19. Apparently, no-one in QC reads captions... they just look at selected pix at 100%... We can confirm this is the case - what you write in the caption does not affect the QC decision.
  20. Hi John, It's worth bearing in mind that Alamy has the largest online collection in the world and adds more stock images daily than anyone else too... The current QC pass rate is around 96% - what you are proposing would: - Make QC times slower - Increase our costs which would possibly have an impact on the commission rate we can offer - Probably increase the failure rate All you need to do is produce images that meet a quite basic technical standard and they'll be accepted, simple as that Cheers Alamy
  21. This thread has run it's course. Our QC team reviewed this case and agreed it was borderline and the issue has been resolved. Our QC pass rate for last month was actually 96% so even though it can seem we are sometimes being harsh, the vast majority of submissions pass with flying colours. Have a great weekend. Alamy
  22. Duplicated words are still there, just not displayed - you don't need to change anything in the way you keyword images.
  23. Hi everyone - rest assured we wouldn't have partnered with these guys without being sure they were trustworthy. Mike Betts (co-founder of Photocrowd) has just published this blog post that will hopefully ease your concerns: http://photocrowd.tumblr.com/post/76418179757/terms-and-conditions Cheers Alamy
