  1. Past hour
  2. Hi, Looks like it might be a bug in the upload software - I've just tried changing the aspect ratio very slightly so they are not exactly 2:1 and they went through okay. Thanks.
  3. though many have mentioned another one that starts with "A" that did reduce commission last year, and many don't seem to understand is a different type of fish, which would worry me if it was to affect client experience at said agency. I hope QC will be aware of this. Checking only image Exif and image technical content may not be enough for a while (actually a 4-6 week turnaround may be a positive for a change)
  4. I am so relieved. I've been dreading turning into a settee. Paulette
  5. Thank you for the reply, that was helpful. Unfortunatly it seems that my camera was not up to the stardard so thats a shame. I will have to get an upgrade!

  7. So the theory is that Shutterstock is trying to get rid of lots of its less successful contributors and those contributors are planning to move over to Alamy in protest. Alamy as a kind of Shutterstock B team? Great 🙃
  8. the best source would be the contract you made with them. What did you agreed to?
  9. I have occasionally thought this was happening (with Safari) only to discover that I had been enlarging something as I worked and everything has gone out of whack. Scrolling down has revealed the right side and playing around with the size has fixed it. Paulette

  11. When I started off I was well above average on CTR, but now I'm on a 0.54 rolling monthly average (depressingly below Alamy's 0.59 average). I probably need to go back and look at some of my earlier captions and keywords at some point. It's probably very difficult to compare contributors because you can't look at the stats. It's all a function of how big your collection is, how often you submit new material, how often you sell, CTR, etc..... Steve
  12. I'm going nuts (again!). I know there was a sticky about the importance of accuracy when labelling files as exclusive, which I wanted to link to for someone - but I've lost it. I think I've checked each forum twice, and I'm sure it was at the top. Can someone please save my sanity and point me to it? Thanks.
  13. Lots of talk on here about CTR, my CTR hovers somewhere between 0.45 - 0.65. Average CTR on Alamy often seems to be about 0.59 ish. As a matter of interest what CTR do regular contributors experience? Obviously above average is good but what type of CTR makes a difference? Any ideas? BW, John

  15. Nice! I'm miles off on 18. Still, there's always next month... 🙄 (a common mantra!)
  16. Just a small milestone, but reached 100 sales for the year this morning.
  17. Will that reset on the 1st Jan every year...? 😉
  18. Today
  19. I contribute (off my own back) to a national and local paper which are produced from the same office in Cork, Ireland. The paper(s) has FOUR staffers, but it still uses many of my images, and other freelancers, on a weekly basis for very nice fees.
  20. If, as suspected by some, there hasn't been a rerank for about 3 years, I'd say it is now irrelevant. I deleted my BHZs a long time ago and stopped worrying about it. It never gave me any clues to sales anyway.
  21. Thanks for the info but is there a language barrier here, or are we at cross purposes? By "image quality" I mean technical quality- the term has nothing to do with content. I don't know anyone who would use the term "image quality" to refer to content. For the avoidance of doubt, OP, Alamy QC does not consider the content of an image at all.
  22. Lightroom settings clarity, vibrance and saturation. It's part of my import default.
  23. You need to refer to the terms on which you licensed the images. I don't know where you are, but in the UK, if there's no written agreement, the courts would say that the licence was very narrow. It certainly wouldn't extend to a monopoly over the design depicted. Even if your buyer bought the item he wouldn't have any rights in its design.
  24. Hi Doug, How long is a piece of string...? No, but seriously, the conventional wisdom with Alamy is that you make less sales here, but that the commission and fee is generally higher than with e.g. microstock agencies. It used to be reckoned that you would make on average 1 sale per month per 1000 images here. I'm not sure how much either of these suppositions holds true now as microstock prices seem to be dragging the whole industry down and Alamy has just recently passed 200 million images for sale. Bearing in mind the size of the catalogue, your 279 pictures is pretty small peanuts! Anyway, welcome and good luck. Steve
  25. BHZ? Blimey, kinda feels like talking about Kodachrome these days! Still relevant, do you think?
  26. On the back of some of this, we've made a few tweaks. Related to off-topic and arguing etc, we've now got a warning points system. https://discussion.alamy.com/topic/13008-forum-mini-update/ Hopefully we won't need to use it much and it will help keep things constructive. Cheers James A
