  2. Having a nightmare time lately chasing very very very suspicious PU licenses of beggars on street, etc Anyway, as much as I would like to opt out, Alamy has indicated that you may only opt out when licensing as RM which is pretty much no go for me since I’m duplicating most images everywhere. Frustrating.
  3. At the moment my BHZ image is on page 8 of 26 at 120 images per page. In a search of AOA for "river great ouse" my first image appears on page 4 out of 50. Is BHZ broken? As an aside my BHZ image is sat next to an image of dog poo. Do you think someone is trying to tell me something? Allan
  4. I'm sticking with personal use. It's not a lot of money per sale but they add up over the year. I just think of it as one of ALAMY's more creative versions of the RM licence and an example of not putting a barrier up between ALAMY and a sale.

  6. Yes, it is amusing to see them in those environs. We get the local coyotes too. I also thought fallow deer at first, but then saw their antlers when I looked them up and they’re quite different. Interestingly, there is a small herd of fallow deer on the grounds of Argonne National Laboratory southwest of here.
  7. Haha whitetail deer in all those posh Frank Lloyd Wright buildings. That doesn't make the animal in the image whitetail deer though. However it's not my department. At first sight I thought fallow deer, Dama dama, which are abundant near here and a pest on the local golf links. They are native to the Ukraine and anywhere in between here and there. The ones we eat are usually from Poland, which is a few miles from Lviv, the location given in the portfolio. They come from farms. The animal in the images (there are quite a few) doesn't look like it's in the wild. Nor do all these lions and tigers. However the antlers don't look like fallow deer either, but maybe that's not what makes the difference. So you may well have been right with the Indian species. Indian is in the keywords btw. wim
  8. All my images are marked as "Do not sell for personal use". The reason is I may wish to sell my own images for personal use by way of prints for reasonable prices. Not all of my images are suitable for that purpose but it was easier just to mark them all initially instead of trawling through them now. Allan
  9. Cannot match exactly but I am looking at fungi of Britain and Northern Europe book. The nearest is Fungal mycelium. Hope it helps your search. Allan

  12. Most of our images are available for personal use. Personal use tends not to be discounted so the fee is between $9.99 and $19.99. Editorial website use can be as low as $3....
  13. I've had plenty of lower value sales for general uses, so for now I've kept the boxes unchecked. In any case, a deliberate thief would just tick 'presentation use'.
  14. Due to the (usually) low fees for personal use images, has anybody else started ticking the ' Don't sell for personal use ' box or do you prefer to have a sale instead, despite the low value and potential misuse? I have started choosing this for all my new images, but not sure if will help in the long run
  15. Interesting. According to Wikipedia, the whitetail has been introduced to several countries in Europe. Ukraine isn’t mentioned, but that doesn’t mean they’re not there. So I had it flipped. They’re beautiful animals, but some in my area consider them big rats. Lately the Des Plaines River, which runs about 3km to the west of me has flooded several times. The local population has sought dryer ground and has been seen foraging within blocks of our house. They have a taste for many garden plants.
  16. I doubt it. The images in that portfolio that have a location in the caption are from the Ukraine. wim
  17. It's not even a consideration for you. None of the micros have any facility for live news.
  18. Send a note to contributors, and they'll contact the photographer concerned to get it changed.

  22. Alamy could make their policy CRA compliant, and probably have, but they choose to have a more generous one. Perhaps they consider it better not to have disgruntled customers dissing them all over the internet.
